  1. You are right, it is not too bad, but belching up carpet fuzz through your nose can make the tequila taste funny.
  2. Not all of us. Hurley This has been beat to death...BUT, while the RDS and even LPV don't provide an (or much) advantage on closer targets , or even longer ones that can be seen, they both provide a decided advantage shooting from awkward positions IMO.
  3. I'll participate. It doesn't even have to be at "The Rock".
  4. Yes, because that's as far as I know my hold! Bofus. That's the reason I asked.
  5. Will the distances on the side-gun shots be over a hundred yards?
  6. I thought the swinging bridge was a great prop. It was challenging, but not to the point of nightmares. The boats were more challenging I think, in both cases.
  7. If the target had already been hit, I would not call a hit again.
  8. The number of shooters was IMO pretty much maxed out this year. I don't see how one could realistically expect to process more through the current facility in two days. Adding another day is not going to help with the parking situation either. If a day is added to the format, let it be to stretch out some of the stages and up the ante on shooting challenges. (longer more complex challenges along with longer reset times) The prize table and distribution do not need any changes IMO and if someone wants a better shot at a better prize then let them compete in pro and earn it.
  9. One benefit of the cooler weather was less ticks. I didn't find a single one and usually have to kill to or three. Maybe they'll be back for the Blue Ridge competitors.
  10. Amen! Why are match fees so expensive? Because it's worth it! Supply and demand. At a point where there are more matches than shooters, the price will come down. But, when a 3 day match w/ 225 shooters fills in a couple weeks (or much less for some events) with a match fee of $250, why should they cost less? This. Judging from the new faces, level of enthusiasm, and skill at this year's ProAm, don't look for things to change in this regard.
  11. Hog hides, al-kee-hawl, and darts.
  12. Not bashing, nor complaining, just offering a suggestion/alternative to IDPA "crap" scoring. It probably does take marginally longer to score targets where the hits are scored rather than witnessed, but then it is a shooting contest after all. No worries, either way I'll still make the effort to register in a few minutes regardless of what scoring method is used.
  13. I sure hope not. My preference would be for NRA action scoring, AKA "walking bullseye".
  14. What about knee high boots? But I'm not sayin' what for Kurt...you know. Knee high??? You're going to need them taller than that to keep from getting any on you. Its doubtfull you'd be safe with hip waders.
  15. What is wrong with the way things are run now? From what I've seen most of the major match directors have their own cadre or at least a core of experienced ROs that know how that particular MD wants things to run. Trying to tweak the way an independant match staffs and runs their match seems a lot like meddling. Especially since ALL of the major matches (except maybe uspsa) sell out and have a waiting list. It seems to me that if officiating were a problem then this would not be the case. Personally, I like the differences that the major match MDs bring to their events and would not be in favor of ANY type of umbrella or sanctioning, or unified rulesets, etc. The way it is now with the aforementioned match core RO team it allows the mentoring of ROS while keeping the flavor of that particular event from being diluted, a good thing IMO.
  16. How about an Aimpoint and a 3x magnifier. You'd be hard put to find something more durable.
  17. There is no good reason to not put the safety on when you break cheek weld with a rifle. I try to do it everytime.
  18. Any info out there??I didn't find much on the Rockcastle site.
  19. Yes, and David has been running the carbine championship match for several years now too. Now Rockcastle is going to have the Bud's two gun match in September. I think its all out there someplace or another.
  20. I don't know you so please don't take this personally. To paraphrase something I read awhile back, it went something like if you run into someone with a bad attitude ocasionally, then you were just unfortunate enough to have run into someone with a bad attitude, but if you are continually running into people with bad attitudes then its probably you. While I have seen the occasional RO let stress get the best of them, it is the exception rather than the rule. I can't recall having ever seen a RO yell or scream at a competitor. Most of the time on some of the longer more complex stages adherence to the walk through time limits and requiring shooters to be ready when they are up is neccessary, and unfortunately it is usually also neccessary to continually remind them. Matches not running on time is more often stage design or MD related than due to ROs. YMMV.
  21. I didn't/don't. It was a joke. That stuff has an interesting reputation, regardless of where it is served.
