Looks for Match

Looks for Match (2/11)

  1. This year at Ft Benning only 2 heavy metal shooters... I was disappointed to say the least to have come in Second! But had a great time!
  2. Shannon, Mucho fun, and kudos to you and the staff for a well run match! We ran on time, avoided the rain, had online real time updates with email pings for stage results, online results updated what seemed like every hour, well organized prize table ( one of the best run btw) and great RO staff! Stages were set with a nice mix of technical and run and gun... Looking forward to next year! Maybe a few more at USA between now and then?!!?! David Aka flg8r
  3. Some sage medical advice... "If wet is the problem, keep it dry... And if dry is the issue, keep it wet!" Use at your own risk...
  4. http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=149220&view=findpost&p=1691453&hl=%2Balamo+%2Bshooter
  5. Sounds very dangerous. Search a thread by Alamo Shooter... Learn from his experience...I'm glad Jamie made it out without being too badly injured! Not worth the risk in my opinion, scarce powder or not.
  6. Thanks for the reply. I have a few options iron sights on the BB gun, scoped ruger 10-22 and a cmore on another 22. I stress the safety and basic marksmanship. I realize its about fun for them, but want them to develop good habits... I honestly believe pistol will be easier and less awkward, but they're still a little young for them just yet...
  7. So I am an excited father of an 8 and 6 year old boys. Their interest and maturity have grown in my sport and shooting so we have started safety and appropriate discussions regarding firearms. I have noticed that although both right hand dominant, when looking down a scope they have a tendency to view with the left eye. I have encouraged both eyes open when handling pistols, and that I think they get. I have also encouraged both eyes open on red dots on rifles and scoped rifles, but because of their size and beginner level, think they might have a hard time with scopes and irons... Do I encourage left handed rifle shooting and right handed pistol? Same for archery? What they feel natural with? Would appreciate the ideas of others.... Thanks Flg8r
  8. Heard H335 might work. Anyone with some experience?
  9. Found the 110 vmax bullets I like, but no TAC to put behind them. Any other suggestions? Thanks Flg8r
  10. My brother was shooting a match this weekend, rifle/pistol. Called to let me know that between moving from shooting positions with rifle the RO kept telling him to put his rifle's safety on. Now I haven't shot a match since Kentucky's Blue Ridge 3G, two years ago, but don't remember ever having to do that, pistol or multigun event. Is this a new trend in rules? Or just an RO or specific range request?
  11. The steel HK mags I believe allow for a longer OAL.
  12. From the video posted, the first stage, "medic bag", it is unclear if the bolt is locked back, as the camera turns away from the shooter during his movement to the second shooting position. What is clear however is that the magazine for the rifle is still in the rifle. Question, according to the posted rules, is this ok? Not trying to stir the pot, just trying to understand the rule set as it pertains to this discipline.
  13. When transitioning from rifle to pistol the shooter must perform the following actions in the order prescribed below*. Failure to comply will result in a match disqualification, as the rifle must be clear before the handgun is employed. 1) Drop the magazine loaded into the rifle 2) Cycle the action emptying the chamber 3) Engage the safety 4) Sling the rifle (When a rifle is empty it can be slung behind the shooter as long as it stays below a 90degree and points towards the ground) From the posted rule book... Wold this also apply to sling transitions? So that mag should be dropped and chamber cleared before transition to pistol.
