  1. Hmm, the followers are snapped in ok, i made sure of that. Other thing i thought of is maybe my slide outran the mags, the recoil spring is 13lb ISMI and passes the vertical test, and the spring is not that old. Mitch i mic'd the feed lips and think i might see a problem. At the back they mic at .334, and then at the front they mic'd at .341. I'm not sure what the specs are supposed to be, and are they supposed to be same front to back?
  2. So, the last couple of matches shooting my 34 in Production, I had a couple of FTF's with a couple of my mags. The round was wanting to stick straight up in the mag, causing my slide to stay back. The mags in question are all about 2 1/2 yrs. old, and i've disassembled all of them once for a cleaning. The 12 I have are all 17rnd and i've never had a problem with them untill I took them apart, and I load and unload at matches and store them empty. I'm wondering if I did something wrong putting them back together, although it's a fairly straight foward process I thought. Only thing I can think of is when pushing the spring back into the mag with the floor plate, I sensed the spring was sliding backwards against the inside of mag, if that makes sense. Or in other words, the inside bottom of the floorplates are smooth allowing the spring to slip around on them slightly. Did I screw something up here or do they only go back together one way? You just push the spring in with the floorplate, then slide the baseplate back on, with the little floorplate nub snapping into place with the baseplate hole? The followers all look fine, and the other 10 seem to work just fine, but thought I would ask in case I did do something wrong. If I need to replace the springs with new ones, which ones are best, Glock OEM, ISMI, or Wolff? Thank you.
  3. One of the nicest most shootable triggers I have is the Vanek drop in kit with the stock striker spring. Smooth and consistant with a great reset.
  4. That is the exact experience that I have had. Going with a reduced power striker spring with a stock striker resulted in an occasional light strike on winchester small primers but was 100% reliable with federal primers. Switching to a Lighting Strike reduced weight steel striker resulted on pretty much 100% reliability with WSP. Same experience also with my SJC Open gun. Lighting Strike lightend steel striker and reduced power striker spring. So far not one light strike with WSP.
  5. I laughed my butt off when he was flipping the thing around at the end and almost dropped it, "piece of $%#". Oh man i about fell out of my chair.
  6. Alright you guys convinced me
  7. What a way cool setup that is to be able to train with dryfire PB. I've always admired your dedication to constantly train with dryfire to improve, it inspires me. Also once you get that case feeder hooked up, would love to see some video of it in action if possible, as i'm thinking about getting one for my 550. Thanks.
  8. Thousands of rounds through my Production 34 with a Vanek drop in as well, and other than a few high primers on my press when i first started reloading, it lights off small pistol winchester primers, including magnum, and white box all day.
  9. ISMI 13 lb is what i use with a 124 gr minor load. Most replace them at around the 10,000 rnd area. If you're using the stock striker spring you could try a 15 lb ISMI to ensure it stays in battery, or a Wolfe 14 lb.

    open glock

My SJC Major 9 G17 has ran flawess for the last 1000 rnds at 169 PF since it was new, and i've only had it since the end of Jan. I couldn't have asked for any better. It runs minor good as well, although I didn't run much of it, but SJC provides a 10lb recoil spring for that purpose. Major loads are softer and flatter than the minor, works the comp better.

    New Open Gun

3 weeks, wow. Congrats, nice blaster!
  12. Maybe. I think that it would be possible to get great comp action out of a 40 with a little load development. Go with a light bullet, and a bunch of 3N38 or N105. I shot a G35 open gun for a while, playing around with 180 gr bullets and 3N37. I was really soft and flat. SJC does a 40 cal Open gun, I think it's called the Stealth package. Nice thing about 40 open is that almost any factory ammo will run, and make major. Bad thing is that you can't stuff enough rounds in the mag! The 28+1 that I get in my G17's has got me spoiled----I've shot several club matches without having to do a reload. Bill Interesting i did not know that. WWJD you should give SJC a call and talk to them about it. They do great work, my Major 9mm Alum G17 from them runs great, and i've heard their 40 cal Stealth guns run good as well.
  13. 9mm will work the comp better than the .40.
  14. I have 2 RS triggers. I did not like the 6lb trigger spring they use just for those reasons, weak reset, and the trigger safety binding on the frame. Like was said above i had to put the stock 5lb trigger springs back in them. At the beep i couldn't feel the difference, and i liked the stronger reset.
  15. I just received a box of 9mm brass from Brian and it looks like good stuff. Just look in the Dealer Forum. +1. Received mine last week, brass looks great and was already cleaned! Thanks Brian, definately will get more of my business.

    Glock grip mods?

Welcome Bowtie. Thats a great looking shooter there.
  17. Wow, that is really good news, and i'm happy to hear it.
  18. I have one in my 17, and basicly as a starting point, adjusted the screw the same has Charlies pre set housing in his drop in production kit in my 34. It works good and i have no complaints. Less is better, you want the striker to have full travel, which is basicly the opposite of what you get if you turn the screw in to far. After you dry fire it, shake the gun forward and backwards and you should hear the striker thumping both directions. That said are they really worth it? I don't know, didn't seem to change my scores any, and your not out much money for one.
  19. +1. Let's make this happen...and FAST. PM me if you need a hand. +1. Count me in for something. +2. I'll do what i can. I caught the other thread, but like others was in shock and didn't know what to say. Prayers to the Nagel family to keep their strength, and have their home rebuilt. Please keep us updated.

    G22 problem

The fact that you were able to refire the rounds screams high primers, not the gun, although you should double check the things that SA Friday said. I had a rash of high primers last summer on my press, my fault, but i was able to refire them.
  21. Also, slide lock can happen if the if the slide stop is put back in the gun wrong, causing it to move up slightly. The locking block pin has to go in first, then install slide stop.
  22. I really like the looks of that thumbrest, is that something SJC does?
