Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Welcome to The Forum. Brians Forum is one of , if not the best reloading resource's on the internet. Go slow, be meticulous, be safe, and enjoy your new hobby!
  2. What about the magazine springs? What are they?...Glock Stock, Extra Power, Another Mfg.? or more importantly... How old are they? They may be too weak! I had a similar problem (although not as bad as yours.) In the end it turned out my mag springs needed replacing. As a precaution I change the followers as well.
  3. Wecome to the Forum.
  4. Hopefully you have plenty of components. I was in a situation like you (Glock 34), because of the increase in demand for ammo and reloading components. I was lucky and got my hands on plated Frontier RN 147gr. I started with minimum amounts of powder (Win 231) and a OAL 1.132 because my old reloading records tell me I had feeding problems with an OAL's around 1.145 to 1.150 Minimums in powder are always a safe place to start. I'm fiddling with the OAL now. I reduced my OAL to 1.125 to 1.130. It varies because of used mixed brass. I can't experiment as much as I want, but my gut feeling is the OAL was more accurate when I had it about 1.132. I like the bullet, and I will try to keep shooting 147 gr from now on. Good luck!
  5. Remember; Your gun is the one that has to function! Your load accuracy is the one that counts. A Chrono is a must but, If you don't have a Chrono....I would pick a load, make 30 rounds, and fuction test, off hand, and from a bench rest. See where your casings are going (you want them to clear the gun without any problem, not flopping out). From a bench, and at a comfortable range; what size group are you shooting? For close up practical shooting I would be happy with 2-3 inch group. Just my opinion ;-)
  6. In my opionion: Win 231 is one of the best powders for 147 gr. If I had nothing to do, and more money I would experiment with others. It would be fun. However, I dont! So the next best thing is to play with the amount W231. You can fine tune it by dropping the amount of powder 1/10th gr at a time.
  7. I was sorry to hear about Marty! Very nice guy. He did me a favor or two (as he did for anyone he came in contact with.) What a shame to go so young! May he Rest in Peace and God Bless! LP P.S. I hear the family can use some financial help. Please send what you can spare to the above.
  8. Welcome aboard! I prefer the term "Super Senior"! Although, there is nothing "super" about not being able to squat, or bend down to pick up brass.
  9. Not fine with above...I had FTF's every 100 or so rounds. I had to to bump up the amount of win 231 to 3.40 gr.
  10. Not true. You can't buy them anymore. Posession is not illegal. Welcome to Brian's Forum...This is the place for Practical Shooters. Interesting comment about hi-caps. I always switch to 10 round mags when I travel to CA! I must check that out! Good luck in your shooting.
  11. Welcome to Brian's Forum. I look forward to saying "Hi" to you at TNS. All the people that make TNS happen are great! They work very hard to put up the best Match week after week so we can have a great Match. Don't forget to say "thank you". Larry P
  12. Sounds good, but how does it feel? And,as long as your not having problems with your natural point of aim, trigger pull, or minipulation of the gun.
  13. I recommend them, Glockmeister Tungsten guide rod with #13 spring. I have had them for years, and they hold up well. Check the washer up front once in a while.
  14. Final: 3.23 Win 231 OAL, 1.132, Win Small Pistol Primer. Glock 34 with Lone Wolff Barrel. Very smooth, & accurate. Chronograph at 793. PF 116.
