  1. How many here have forgot something vital ill go first when j was new i dryfired like now but left my gun in dryfire area was so excited to go to a new club drove two hours had everything i needed went to go get my gun whoops luckily had a great older buddy let me shoot his open gun i didnt shoot as well due to it bein so foreign but after driving 2.5hrs i was very greatful to him letting me use his guns and ammo
  2. I wish every match had a practice bay bc I totally would the issue with the safe area is some clubs have a small one and only one and everyone is trying to gun up a few draws and even then the line is massive
  3. This depends shooting with a guy thats better but you can come close to makes it worse for me however shooting with someone above that is a huge help you can see what they are doing differently than you if you always shoot with alike guys you will never push yourself always pushing speed is a good thing you push enough get enough bad hits and penalties your eyes will catch up you are going to suck for a while but one day it will just click to do better you have to do a very hard thing one work hard stay focused the very hard thing is the second putting your ego aside for the betterment of your overall goal
  4. When i first started i hated them too a guy told me shoot them like every other stage thats what i do just for match points when i was trying to make M the second i stopped trying it happened same in open and pcc i even got close to gm in limited shooting them for match points you will be pleasantly surprised when you just approach like any other stage dont shoot hard or go hard just normal amount ive done testing in practice between going as hard as i can and shooting a bit hard and match pace i found in match pace and pushing a tad hard results in not only better hits but close to same time the difference isnt staggering sometimes its even slower good tip is make sure your shoulders are not tense just practice great reloads with a goal of 1 sec shot to shot and 1 sec consistent draw you will blow right out of B the other thing is B has the biggest spread its a tough spot to leave for a lot of guys dont let it get you down put in 15 min of meaningful dryfire a day with a regiment like stoeger and check with live fire set up some classifiers live just to see with no pressure where you are you will be surprised tick tock and el prez are very easy to set up
  5. You will always find that one guy in a group in areas its either jealousy or not happy at home so they want ppl around them miserable what i mean you come in shoot and in a few mo beating them type thing ive encountered this i just dont squad with that person and i started finding empty squads so whoever squads with me didnt get quote stuck with me for the most part 99% of guys are cool with the same values doesnt matter the sport or hobby you will always have that guy we arent meant to get along with everyone being 10x worse will indeed mess with you if you have good morals bc even though it was well deserved you will feel guilty i find confronting them if you cant get away from them calmly and just asking hey what is ur deal with me 99% of the time they will stammer all over and stop hope this helps and sorry to hear this is going on i know it sucks being a tattle tale but that is unsportsmanlike conduct and a dq its cool to have a squad of 12 buddies ragging on eachother but if its plain mean and hurtful no space for that here
  6. I love to jam heavy music before shooting during live fire i blast my truck while getting ready i even considered blue tooth ear pro to do music while shooting i think it would get distracting but does get me pumped and in a great mood
  7. I know scott brown posted a 1 sec bill drill i can personally do it in 1.28 but 1 is tough thats consistent .10 splits with a ridiculous fast draw like .5 draw fastest draw i ever pulled of was a .6 I suppose if you set aside 100 rounds each live session and dryfired it a bunch you would get there in several months
  8. You can google these but stoeger and go fast dont suck have great scaled dryfire packages and if you are on a budget just buy them as budget allows i found the white printable ones not favorable due to them being white depending on what school of thought you come from ie stoeger says scaled is great while anderson says only use full size
  9. Get the stoeger new book has different levels and tons of drills breaks it down into groups with par times for most of it even breaks down the level of your particular goal and what days to do which set of skills the older dryfire and the new one for live/dry is an abundance of wealth
  10. The guys you see at the top next to local guys difference is at one time the local gm hammered practice it either was all he did cost to much or family problems when your job is to shoot you are going to be better we for the most part are weekend warriors these top guys dryfire hours a day constant livefire they dont have to worry about loading ammo gun maintenance getting time this week to go to the range or having enough ammo loaded their match fees and travel are covered huge difference there is some local guys that do it but they get picked up after time even guys working other jobs not in the industry once you have free guns and multiple of them ammo loaded etc etc id save hours without brass processing loading picking brass up loading gear for range trip 1hr to range 1hr back 20 min set up time for two hour training you are in it 4 hours then get off at 5 get home dryfire hr or two you are at 8pm dinner time then when do you load gota make time its like anything lets say like me you are a contractor but on weekends and free time u build things im always going to be a bit faster a bit cleaner and have better equipment due to its my job and i do it 50hrs a week and you are maybe 1-2hrs a day if you are hard into it and maybe a Saturday half a day does that make any sense?

I have never taken any training classes i have shot with lots of guys who have and i was going to do a ben class but caught a podcast with him saying everything i teach is in my books his books and videos has got me where im at also watching every top shooter i can shoot classifiers are basically a fast draw a super fast reload most u can do 20 splits on as long as u have a sec draw and sec reload take el prez as example in irons if u do 1.2 turn and draw 1 sec load you have 2.2 to shoot 10 shots i know it sounds ridiculous and like a lot of time but thats what load and good draw saves you 4.4 sec all alpha 13.6 hf 2.2 divided by 10 is .22 splits
  13. I love the ben stoeger stuff steve anderson is great too the best advice is find one you click with and use only it for the basic stuff every trainer has different approaches to things ben and steves are proven over and over the amount of heat you see these days is due to that material
  14. By far my draw if i really hammer reloads i can get it under a second but to me it isnt that important to be under a second reload other than classifiers i can do a consistent.75 draw out to 15 1 to 25 and about 1.2 30 with irons with dot bout a sec on distance .75 closer my average load is 1.1 ive gotten it down to .9 but its not that important to me to hammer it standing moving reload is much more important no one wins a match on draw or reload i watch tons of top guys and none are drawing like lightning most the time unless its steel challenge you look at the majority of stages most involve some movement to begin shooting after draw most stage have ample moving room for a load unless you are locap use your time to get something down we do a ton of which is transitions if u get a guy shooting lets say 14 shots but 30 transitions then another 20s on everything the gun blasting fast looks impressive and like he burns it down but the 20 consistently on everything will win everytime you can get all of those things by doing a draw at all different hand positions 3 targers a yard apart 2 shots each reload two shots each work the par down at 0-25 yards live and dry
  15. What i see a lot of new shooters do is admire their work first off two shots then stare at it dont do that shot call move however i know when i was a new shooter i was scared of running with a gun and even when i got more confident with it i felt out of control at times what i found is if u dont feel that uneasy feeling u arent moving hard enough run 100% push 100% go in your back yard or range unloaded gun set up two targets dry at the beep in one box shoot two dryfire run as hard as possible to next two more find a par time work to reduce that par time knowing how to enter and exit saves lots of time as well look up drills on that a real good one is track the a zone on your walk thru u see all the targets wall may be blocking view of several you know they are there have your gun up ready tracking that target till it’s visible gun always up dont run then mount then shoot 80% of the run 100% hard last 20 slowing bringing the gun up in your video slowed down u should still be moving when your first shot fires
  16. When im on it and wanting to do well i dryfire every night for a few hours would love 2 days of live fire but i take Friday for training i love shooting 1000 rounds but it really is not productive i find after 2-300 i start to get silly i use to think dryfire was ok good for reloads and few other things but I decided one day to try something entirely different and make stages or parts i struggled with lots of fun and not boring
  17. I use one of those grip weight things charlie perez has a great segment on grip all versions very detailed and interesting he suggests getting a grip weight pull from amazon and checking your grip that your grip pressure with strong hand should be 100lbs may sound funny but maybe try a string instrument something not just pulling a handle to get strength but something that the more you get the more improvement you see
  18. I saw a sweet travis tomosie video where he puts a target right next to him, the other key is target focused ok so target down range target next to him beep two well placed shots he then put pasters on the fresh target next to him and compared hits to where he called them
  19. This is a multi faceted question what do you intend to do with the sport just for fun hang with buddies make gm or whatever your goal may be if you are wanting to be serious, and as a previous comment, most gm can shoot anything well but they use the same firearm each and every time switching optic and sight heights magwells mags different dots and sights grip angle trigger tough to get better like that imho
  20. Me personally when i started the ro would tell me its not a race to unload and show clear. So i wait a second grab my mag get the bullet out of the chamber visually check myself then open the slide and show the ro but up high if you have ever seen max michel on hot shots i stole his unload and show clear pretty much
  21. I have a funny story about this exact topic i have always racked with the dot when i used a slide mounted dot a buddy recently got a sweet infinity and was showing me his front slide serrations and i just said why not use the optic you could tell it didnt even occur to him that to be an option these particular firearms are our tools stuff is going to break my two cents
  22. Been doing exactly this it is working thanks
  23. I got the rl1050 several years back to process rifle brass recentLy i switched to 9 major only and thought it would be smoother on that press after going back and forth for a few years on spending the money for the head and change kit. so here is my issue i have done everything disassembled and cleaned lubed everything twice no matter what the primer system will skip primers then you have a mess which makes it worse fortunately i have a mark 7 rig coming i ordered this stuff before i found a deal on a rig im hoping it doesnt do the same it is very frustrating and some help would be awesome i have two other presses i have never had any issues with once setup other than stuff wearing out
  24. Mreed911 thats awesome to hear
