  1. Thanks for the input - I shoot open minor and do not reload. At larger matches I shoot 9mm major. Since I only have 9mm mags I have been leaning toward the 3 9mm barrel options. Did you upgrade to the Stainless Grip or did you stay with aluminum?
  2. I started out in Carry Optics with a TPSFX, moved to a Shadow with a DPP. Purchased a Tactical Sport Orange added a CZ Optics Mount and moved into open minor with the TSO - built and shoot my own 2011’s today. I would not go back to shooting a slide mounted dot. I Started building my own 2011s. My first one was built from EBay parts, I did a horrible job building it and did things that would make builds laugh at me. In the end the gun runs factory 9mm ammo and it runs. There are many ways to go. In my option the lowest cost would be to change the Shadow2 to single action only drill and tap the frame for an optic mount and thumb rest, install an optic and shoot fast. Next step would be to purchase a threaded barrel and install a comp. You will have a hard time finding a good open gun comp since the 1/2x28 thread size is not used on open guns.
  3. Been thinking about purchasing a Honcho. Seems they have sales events with free extra barrels. Just curious....Since purchasing your Honcho do you switch the barrels out often or do you find yourself just using the same barrel over and over?
  4. This will not be popular but I shoot my open guns in open minor. I run federal brass and aluminum through my gun. I do not reload so purchasing major ammo is expensive and I only use major at large matches and I only shoot 1-2 large matches a year. All of the other matches I shoot are local smaller matches. I have built 2 open guns for open minor. I like to make them short and heavy. I run a comp on them and they shoot extremely flat. I let carry optics shooters try my gun and they say it is like shooting a .22, and yes they call it a cheater gun.
  5. Thanks - just joined the FB page, looks like it will be a good source for used equipment.
  6. Thanks - I will check them out.
  7. At my local match I just changed our Thursday night USPSA match to Thursday Night Action Shooting. With only 5 divisions Center Fire Iron, Center Fire Optic, Rimfire Iron, Rimfire Optic, and PCC. A bunch of us purchased Rimfire conversions for our guns and shoot them in a USPSA match since we cannot get 9mm. It has been a lot of fun to use an open gun in .22lr
  8. We have started Thursday Night matches to educate first time shooters. It has been hard for us to grow our match base, we are a private club with 200 members and can only get 6-10 members to shoot our matches. We only charge $5.00 to shoot a Thursday night match and youth under 18 shoot free.
  9. What devices do you use at matches to run PractiScore? Looking for long battery life and easy to view screen in sunlight.
  10. What places do people use to buy and sell equipment related to USPSA guns and equipment? I purchase and trade equipment often and am looking for websites that people use.
  11. I will have to search for the tuning guide.
  12. Round nose Minute Man 145gr, I do not reload and purchase these from them. They seem to get stuck in the tube, sometimes.
  13. Struggled with this as well now it just comes naturally. Dry fire practice, practice, practice.
  14. Shoot a lot of small local matches and have been running Open Minor.
  15. This is my 2nd attempt at building an open gun.
  16. I have recently started to Hold USPSA style matches with Rimfire Pistol options. Does anyone else do this? Is there a name for those types of matches?
  17. I would use it to buy something I could sell.
  18. We had done built for our local range, we wear these when we travel. On the back we have Columbus Rifle Club, we golf matches too. Trying to get people to come tour our local matches, it has worked.
  19. I have recently found myself listening to older country. Mountain Music, Elvira, etc.
  20. I prefer to watch a few people before I go. I travel to matches with a buddy and our main goal is to beat each other. I find it easier to follow him so that I know what I have to do and what mistakes I need to avoid.
  21. I started down this road and ended up in open. CZ’s make great competition guns. Make sure to get out and shoot.
  22. I recently struggled with this same issue. I have 1 open gun with a large gap and 1 with a small gap. As stated by others a gap is needed, size is preference.
