  1. Key word. Unless you decide you won't run the gun dry to bolt hold open anyway and adjust the gas to short stroke. Than its slightly more than barely. Still need spacer though of course. Be careful?
  2. Also, if you launch a dowel rod through your skull doing this, my real name is Oprah Winfrey and I live in Chicago. You can just contact my lawyers directly.
  3. I'm running an A5 receiver extension, but rifle would work too. I tried a bunch of different springs I had already and ended up liking the Taccom rifle spring best, which I believe is 10% reduced. They were all pretty close though. Yes the carbine buffer is completely empty. With a adj block the buffer is already barely touching the back of the receiver extension, so the difference this setup makes is fairly minor honestly. But also cheap. It only works with the ammo you set it for. If you set it for weak PMC bronze and then stick proper M193 in the buffer will bottom out. So ammo specific. it also moves fast, which some might feel as not soft. I prioritize flat shooting and reducing dot movement. it's cheap and easy to try is the main thing, you probably have everything you need already. The SCS is sweet too, As is the armaspec. To find the number of quarters, put some in, stick in the spring and buffer, use a towel rod to push down buffer till it bottoms out without hitting the lower reciever. Add one to be sure. the space between the buffer bottoming out and the bolt catch still working is pretty small.
  4. Before buying the SCS you might try running it first with an empty buffer and a rifle spring. If you use a carbine buffer in a non carbine receiver extension make sure to use a spacer (like quarters) to keep the gas key from hitting the receiver when it operates. By using just enough quarters for minimum key clearance and only enough gas to lock bolt open on last round you can keep the buffer from ever reaching the end of the tube. That's what I found to give the flattest impulse anyhow. SCS is good too. I assume this is a game gun of course.
  5. CZ just discontinued the base TS. They will still make the TSO. https://cz-usa.com/product/cz-75-tactical-sport-9mm-dual-tone-20-rd-mags/
  6. I have 2 rifles with the Superlative Arms block. Both have been superlative. You can set it to vent gas from block or to operate like a conventional adjustable gas block.
  7. I don't need a TS, but I couldn't pass up $1000 for all that...especially considering there won't be any more of them.
  8. Thats a wise and realistic way to evaluate your work rate. Its easy to focus on how many rounds you can crank out in an hour booking it, but factor in all the ancillary tasks associated and the real picture is quite different. Likewise when figuring cost per round. Its easy to add the money spent on primers, powder, bullets, and cases and feel pretty good about the result, but add in all the other costs and you get a very different and more realistic picture. Especially since there is always something else you need! Got a nice press, time for a chrono! Now you know how fast your rounds are going, better get a shock bottle! And so on forever. Whatever the metrics, its the enjoyment of the work and the process and the result that are most important to us, I believe.
  9. Sport Pistol is about as clean and soft as N320 at much lower cost. Shot ~150 rounds (140 PF w/16" bbl) in my PCC at a USPSA match this weekend and it is very clean still.
  10. I use a Square Deal B that I bought 20 years ago in high school when I worked at a gun store. When components became affordable again and I dusted it off to get back cranking, I assumed I'd want to upgrade after a little while, but since it was basically free I'd use it for a bit. As it turns out, with my daughter sticking cases in while I pop on bullets, we can do about 500 rnds/hour. My son is younger and slower, but we are working on improving his transitions and time to first case. Anyhow, I reckon I'm like my Dad, who bought a log splitter and riding mower when I moved out.
  11. Here is the best deal out there on cob and it's the size you need, pretty fine. Get two 40lb bags and it's free shipping. https://www.zoro.com/zoro-select-blast-media-corn-cob-20-to-40-grit-crn3-40/i/G2165387/ I have been using it awhile, and 80 lbs will last me a long while yet. It works great and is moderate on dust.
  12. You could build out an SP-01 to work great for both.
  13. Yes, you'd see much improvement. Personally, I find the CZ design very easy and intuitive to detail strip. There are really not that many parts. But I am mechanically inclined to begin with to be honest. If you are worried about it even after watching a video or two, you might be able to find someone locally to show you in person. Also, if you are replacing the trigger you'd be well served by ditching the stock trigger pin for the CZC or CGW improved one.
  14. Use whatever handgun you already have and head to whatever match you can. You can figure out exactly what and how you want to shoot as you gain some experience and comfort. Getting started is the most important thing. If you already have an AR and a shotgun and think you would like 3 gun, just go. You'll find the people helpful. Load from a bag on your belt, whatever. If you don't have something you need for a specific stage you can sit it out, if no one offers to let you borrow, which they probably will. Its easy to get caught up focusing on the gear, but just the act of going to a match puts you way ahead of most gun owners and even enthusiasts.
  15. I got the Armalite brake yesterday and this afternoon I tuned it for Wolf Gold, which is my choice for inside 200 yards. Took a 1/8" hole up top and a 5/32" on the right. Double taps at 40 yards now land around 3" apart, exactly what I was after. This is on a 18" barrel 10lb gross weight rifle. Blast and noise (for shooter at least) is not bad at all, less than a Titan for sure. I am very pleased with the brake and look forward to running it in the next match that isn't rained out, after which I will try to post an update here.
  16. For my PCC I am using the Meprolight RDS, which was designed for Israeli Tavors. I got it for $280 when they first came out, now they are over $400. Its very clear with generous view, crisp dot, good controls.
  17. There's a lot of factors, so make sure your frame of reference reflect your gear and game. That is, from what start position? What kind of holster? For example, I'd say 100% a zone hits at 10 yards using the sights in 1.5 seconds from surrender position out of a non race holster is pretty good.
  18. Oops, I also ran the 3.4 grains load through my PCC with 16" New Frontier barrel. It averaged 1113 fps and 138 pf.
  19. There wasn't much info out there on light loads (i.e. for 3-gun, steel challenge) with Alliant SP for my bullet weight so I figured I'd stick some data up for future generations. Caution: note the fairly short OAL. ProChrono Digital, 10 ft distance 55 degrees - overcast 124 grain Everglades Plated RN 1.10" OAL CCI Small Pistol Mixed Brass CZ TSO 5.23" barrel with 11# recoil spring 3.2 gr AVG VEL= 906 fps AVG PF=112 ES=47 SD=11 Extremely soft (like .22), Dirty Cases, 3 ft. ejection distance 3.3 gr AVG VEL=942 fps AVG PF=116 ES=33 SD=9 Soft, Slightly Cleaner Cases, 3-4 ft ejection distance 3.4 gr AVG VEL=973 AVG PF=120 ES=20 SD=5 Soft but clearly 9mm, clean cases, 4-5 ft ejection distance 3.6gr AVG VEL=1013 AVG PF=125 ES=21 SD=7 Softish, clean cases, 5-6 ft ejection distance 3.8 AVG VEL=1037 AVG PF=128 ES=23 SD=8 Standard 9mm recoil (needs heavier spring), dirtier cases?, 7ft ejection distance I think 3.4 gr is clearly the minimum charge at 1.10" OAL, though the 3.2 could work for steel challenge if you don't mind foregoing the clean burning aspect of SP. I went back and did the 3.3 gr string due to the big 67 fps jump between 3.2 and 3.4 to see if the TSO chamber was getting a decent seal there. Hope this helps somebody at some point!
  20. Thanks TDH for that. I don't mind weight generally, but don't want to change the balance too much hanging a lot extra on the end. 4.9 is fine, honestly it looks oinkier than that, which is why I asked.
  21. Anyone here know what the m-15 tuneable brake weighs in at? Mr. Google doesn't seem to know. Also, any experiences or impressions? Say as opposed to the Titan.
  22. Where are you seeing these For sale?
  23. This is all very helpful stuff, I will put these suggestions into action. I think I have a subconscience tendency to short or skip weak hand practice, so maybe I will write a plan out so I have something concrete to adhere to. Thanks all.
  24. I am a decent shooter. For example, I took 2nd in limited and 2nd in PCC in the last match I shot, which happened to be Steel Challenge, though I shoot a wide variety of disciplines. Anytime I have to switch to weak hand pistol its not pretty. I have a plate range at home and can practice this as much as I can afford, but with weak hand practice I feel like I am just wasting ammo and not seeing the fast improvement like with most stuff I practice. Or really any improvement. I have no problem quad loading with my weak hand and I also play the fiddle which requires a lot from both hands, so it's not just that my left hand is stupid. Anyone got any advice or tips or what worked for you anecdotes that might help me with this issue?
