  1. I believe the grip tape is ok...I know guys that use Agrip in production. Don't believe the extended mag release and slide release are legal though.
  2. Mine was a Springfield Armory 1911 and they did make it good for me :-) but then I turned around and replaced it with a CZ75 :-)
  3. I started with a Glock 19, moved to the Glock 34 and within the last year switched to a CZ75 and SP01. I have to say that each move has been a step up. While I will always be a glock fan, in my opinion the CZ's win hands down for ease of handling/shooting in a competition.
  4. Oh Sig I love it! Where can I buy one? Heck with diamonds!
  5. Sure! I had just switched from a 9mm to a 45 and was adjusting my 550 Dillon reloader to get the grain count on the powder where I wanted it to be. I would adjust the powder level then run about 5 rounds through and weigh it to see if it was where I wanted it to be. The 550 doesn't auto index so you have to index it yourself. If you don't....guess what...double charge. So obviously as I was playing with it I was paying more attention to getting one off to weigh it and forgot to index the next round and double charged one. Since then I have been extremely cautious about what I do and how when I am adjusting my press. Checking EVERY station when you are going thru powder adjustments on a reloader that doesn't auto index is critical My bad luck was in that I didn't check the brass on every round before I loaded my mags and this one had a split or crack around the bottom. Good lesson.....when I reload I do just that and nothing else! And I case guage and check EVERY round before I shoot. That lovely purple and green around my eye did nothing for my normally green eyes!
  6. I hate it when that happens! I double charged a 45 round and had a piece of bad brass at the same time....when the bottom blows off the piece of brass a funny thing happens and the next rounds in the mag blows....I got lucky with some brass fragments in my cheek and a lovely black eye for about a week where my glasses got pushed into my face....consider yourself lucky! A business suit and a black eye are just NOT the latest in womens accessories I did learn my lesson about indexing a 550 reloader!!! Go buy yourself a new toy...it will make you feel better!
  7. HI guys, as a single mom I thought I would throw my 2 cents in here. In reading all the responses I think one thing that everyone has forgotten that as a parent we are all different and have differing opinions of what is important for our kids to learn. Meaning, what is important for me and what I consider respectful may be totally different for another parent. I alway say we beat (just kidding!) the things out of our kids that drive us nuts. This is why it is so difficult for blended families because you have two different parenting styles trying to merge. In my house, yea a hot fudge sundae has shown up as dinner with the rest of the meal sometime later in the evening. Some would call me a horrible mom for that but hey....this is my house not yours! I appreciate that Chills asked for advice but he needs to remember that we are all different on how we raise our kids. That being said....my 17 yr old son has blue hair he is also a straight 'A' high school student taking 6 college credits and working 35 hours a week so that he can pay for his own car insurance....so I guess I am doing ok! Can I get him to pick up his shoes in the living room....sigh..pick your battles! Bottom line, talk to your kids....they don't read minds anymore than you do!
  8. Phishing, pharming and phreaking....the terms all came from the original days of phone hacking. Bottom line is they will never ask you to confirm anything thru email. Never give out any personal info over the internet...couple other things to check for when you are doing credit card transactions is to check and make sure there is the little gold lock at the bottom right hand side of the page and also that the address line changes from http to https signifying a secure server...Sorry to get on my soapbox but identity theft is one of the classes I teach.
  9. Thanks for the support guys! As much as I 'hate' the jerks the range is full of a bunch of really nice people as well. Closed
  10. Christmas day, I wore shorts and a tshirt (80 degrees) and my step dad looked at me and seriously said that next year we need to have Christmas at his place in Canada NORTH of Toronto. I gave him a really sweet smile and told him it was nice knowing him! This desert lizard does NOT do that white stuff.....brrrrrrrrr I may get teased a LOT at the range by the guys that know I will have pocket warmers in my jacket at the range when it drops below 65 BUT they alway want to steal them later. I HATE SNOW!
  11. I voted for the beach and rum but did treat myself to a new CZ SPO1 that is just a blast to shoot thanks to Angus Hobdell. Hmmm wonder if I can still find that beach?
  12. Wisconsin....they would have that white stuff there right? BRRRRR You are talking to a true blue desert lizard! 100+ is good for riding and shooting No the comments usually aren't on the range, they come from the guys whose wives get upset when they find out I am out there shooting on the same squad or same match. What burns me will be the guys that are my friends but the minute their significant other comes around I suddenly become a total stranger!
  13. And for some reason the fact that I ride a Harley seems to make it worse....Funny but most of the assumptions are made by OTHER WOMEN...which really drives me nuts Just haven't quite figured out that logic that since I ride a motorcycle I am going to want their husbands
  14. Ok guys, now is my time to vent but as a single woman on the range I either get the comments from the wives/girlfriends of the guys I shoot with or the automatic assumptions that I must be sleeping with the guys I shoot with..... I don't party with them....just shoot.
  15. MBA/TM Univ of Phoenix if you want one that is more technically oriented than just business....but seriously you are asking if any Academic entity is gun friendly? I work at the company that owns UOP....can you say Democrat?
  16. Rika, surprisingly enough the smaller bikes are more difficult for someone our size to ride than the heavier ones. It is a matter of a lower center of gravity on the bigger bikes. Also a matter of being seen on the roads. If you are planning on riding on the freeways in AZ don't go less than an 800 in anything because here speed can save your life if you need to get out of the way. My first bike was an 883 and I took it up the mountain to Payson and immediately upgraded to a 1200 because it just couldn't make the climb. As you know my current one is a Low Rider which is about 1400cc......the whole point about not being able to lift it up yourself is to NOT lay it down. I haven't dropped my bike since the first month I had one so don't drop it! If you don't have your license yet I would recommend going to a Team Arizona training class. It is a great training/refresher course and they will test you for your AZ license.
  17. I am in the North Central Phoenix area and between the 51, 202 and 101 now getting to Ben Avery, Rio or South Mountain is a snap for any range. Welcome to AZ....the town you can shoot at least 4 times a week at a match!! Gotta love it
  18. Don't be put off by the reloading. When I walked into Dillon to get my reloader they had to ask me if I even owned a wrench :-) Talk to people that load and they will be happy to share different loads with you. Ask the experts! I shoot a CZ so I emailed Angus Hobdell and asked him for his load and he was happy to give it to me. The main thing is to pay attention. Yea during the first year I had several squibs and I will admit that I blew up a 1911 by double charging a 45 round....lesson learned PAY ATTENTION. I was playing with the load using a Dillon 550 that you have to index yourself and forgot to turn it as I was weighing the powder about every 3rd round as I adjusted it.... I won't ever make that mistake again. The bottom line is that even the most mechanically challenged can do it! And don't be afraid to call Dillon and ask for advice. The guys there are wonderful!
  19. When you are dryfiring, try pulling your gun slightly toward your body and you should be able to look into your magwell so you can see the mag going in. If you do that you will never turn your gun far enough to be Dq'd. This was a trick that Julie Goloski taught me and it really has helped by keeping my eye on the magwell.
  20. To all the guys that don't understand ......why women go to the bathroom in packs or why we wanted our own forum I have been shooting for 3 years but never got up the nerve to post here on Brians site. It always seemed to be for the guys....or much more expert shooters. It wasn't until the ladies site came up and I started seeing all the women shooters that are out there that I have gained the confidence to go into the other BE sites and jump in. If it doesn't make sense to you guys, just consider the hen house as the fancy front door the girls want to go thru to get to the bar where you all hang out! As for why we go to the bathroom in packs.......well we'd have to shoot you if we told you that Thanks for welcoming us guys!
