Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I am so glad this has been started here. I came from Sniershide and was told it was here...I e-mailed the USPSA to see if they could put something in their letter or site..This really needs to get out because Stu was one of the nicest guys you could ever be with,,NO BS saying this because he died..He would want to tech you anything you wanted to know. He was dedicated to being proficient in any form of shooting but he loved IPSIC and 3 gun.. We met a Quantico for a rifle class and were in contact. We were suppose to get together in about a month and I have been in shock and depressed for 3 days now. I feel like I lost a brother... His wife sent me where the memorial is going to be... I would be deeply honored if you attend on June 30 at 1pm. Joslyn Lewis 1209 Claridge Road (cross streets, Cheltenhem Avenue and Widener Road --) Widener Roads BECOMES Claridge Road) Wyndmoor, PA 19038 215-836-7414 A landmark is the LaSalle College High School -- huge high school across from Widener Road. Stewart is survived by his mother Patricia, sister Allyson and brother Mark. They, too, would be honored. I am on Long Island and going anyone intrested from the area let me know by e-mail or IM... I am also edpmedic at Snipershide.net Please never forget how short life is and how blessed we are...... Edited..I know I am not here very much and have been shooting mostlly F-class, but my thoughts are always with getting back to it when my back heals...I keep my membership in the USPSA and my RO status also...
  2. I try and keep my eye and mind on the target while I reload. With the help of everybody it is getting better and my reloads might be slow, but they are starting to flow much easier. I am going to get a extended mag button and see if that also makes it easier. Thanks.
  3. Thank You all...This is really helping. I never thought I had small hands and fingers but I guess this is true. Yes I see myself doing that now that you brought it to my attention. I am going to get extended mag release button's. I was trying not to since I do use them for carry. I guess it will not cause to much of a problem for normal use.
  4. Well I was DQ-ed from a match a couple of months ago and it has been on my mind. The problem is I am messing up and am having a hard time fixing the problem. I find myself breaking the 180 on mag changes. On my G19 or 1911's I go to release the mag and for some reason turn the gun with the muzzle towards the left side. Part of the problem is having to change hand position to reach the mag release. The other part is a VERY BAD HABIT and I know it. Since my DQ I have not had a chance to shoot in a match. So when I practice or just shoot at the range. I find myself having to DQ myself. I try to either keep pointing down range, and if I keep my attention and say it to myself I am ok. When I go into operating mode and think of the target or just doing a mag change, I see myself starting to turn the pistol. I feel like a fool doing this now that I have been made aware of it. Besides putting extended mag release on my guns is it just practice to break this habit.
  5. Thats funny I was going to say wait till you try a AR in 3 gun or a HK
  6. For me, cheek pad, step ladder, something. The only use I have for a scope on a carry handle is load development on a bench. The way my eyes are these days, the scope helps to keep a more consistent POA than the iron sights. Lee Cheek Weld is different for everyone. So it is hard to say what works for me will work for you. You have to see what size scope your going to use. Is it for QCB or Long Range? Do you want ot for prone or sitting at a bench? The larger the scope the higher the rings need to be. On average most AR's with scopes start with Medium rings and most large scopes will only work wit High rings. For a A2 type you will need a Delta cheek piece and you will be set. Most answers could be found at www.ar15.com You might want to check this out also http://www.bizplaces.com/magpul/storefront.asp?pgID=3
  7. I carry a Glock 19C and can only tell you from my experience using it in competition. I ran into the problem they are talking about. Shooting against some really tricked out guns with a production G19 compensated. I also ran into the fact I was shooting in minor power category also. Now on a Glock I was able to buy a regular barrel and use it with my Compensated slide. So that took care of that problem. I am not sure how the compensated barrel works on a XD, but know it is a great gun to own. I have shot the XD's and really like them. I think you need to decide what power category you want to shoot in also. Sometimes depending on how my neck and back are, I shoot a Kimber CDP. The other thing you need to look at is accuracy. For me a 5" is more accurate then a 3 or 4". Since it is going to be a carry gun, also you might give up some accuracy. I like to shoot IDPA with what I am going to use in the real world. That includes shooting a Glock 33 in 357sig and sometimes put a 40-conversion barrel into it. I will say with a 3.5" barrel it does make things interesting and shows me what needs to be corrected for real life problems. Since I carry either a G19C, G33, Kimber CDP tactical or a Browning FN High Power. I like to shoot all of them in the IDPA meets. I am setting up a full length 1911 for the IPSC shooting or maybe a Glock or XD since I do like the feel of them also. Again it all depends what you’re going to do. Carry only, carry and compete or compete
  8. My first post here and wanted to say hello. I am in the NY area and shoot in Area 8 in USPSA and IDPA. I became a NRO level one and really just started getting involved. Was told this is the site to be part of and learn the in and out from. I go by edpmedic at AR15.com, Snipershide, Glock Talk, 1911 Forum, HKPro and so on. So I take my user name serious and the world of shooting. Hope to be a contributing member of the site. Right now I am not very good and really need to practice and learn.
