  1. I'd shoot first in anticipation of a few misses and then reload a number that seems to make sense (assuming I'm even capable of doing any kind of math after the start signal ).
  2. Using a paperclip (the same one for 5+ years, an unexplainable attachment), doing it directly when coming home from the range and tossing all that feel like they have a thinner spot in the case walls.

  4. +1 too. I love to not have to drag my Oehler to the range and bother others while setting it up. It often makes the difference to me whether to bring a chrono or not (especially if it's just for simple things like 5 rounds to check temperature influence). Also like the .csv format so it's easy to transfer the info to Excel on the computer (rather than a drawer with printed slips).
  5. I personally believe the whole metering thing is overrated after I got single digit SD's throwing IMR4064 through my Dillon powder measure loading 308. That said I'm sold on 8208 since I've tried it (and for who cares it meters better than 4064).
  6. I cut the sleeve of mine partially to keep it functioning as intended. I was a bit afraid it would spin around and block the projectiles, but that hasn't happened so far.
  7. This is why I drink a lot of coffee: I poor most of my ammo in Folgers cans.
  8. I have a STI Apeiro in 45 and the only bullet that doesn't feed well is the 185 XTreme FP. Hornady 230 RN and 185/230 HAP, Nosler 185 JHP, XTreme 200 HP, XTreme 230 HP & RN and MG 185 JHP & 200 JFP & 230 HP feed flawless. As mentioned by others I prefer the bulkier grips for large hands. The extra mags I bought needed the followers to be filed into shape, they looked nothing like the one that came with the gun and didn't lock the slide back when empty. But hey, what can you expect for only 70 bucks? I just have to use caution to only load the 140mm mags with 10 rounds, I've got one base plate in a different color to load with 11 when starting with a round in the chamber.
  9. Update: I think I got it this time. When holding a shell in place where it would stop behind the tab on the LH carrier latch, it appeared that the tab on the RH carrier latch was catching at the rim before even being activated by the action bar to the point where it would cause enough delay to grab the shell behind the rim and hold it tight - or something to that extend. I took a polishing stone to the inside of the RH tab (arrow in picture, it only took a few passes) and now it cycles all shells I have, including cheap Winchester Super Target and Remington Gun Club Target.
  10. Hi Keith, I've done that, mine was .571 and I brought it back to .563 (the guy on Youtube went from .580 to .562), but I do not believe the lifter is (and was) the issue. When I load a round and rack the fore-end back: The lifter drops quickly The tab on the LH carrier latch releases a shell The tab on the RH carrier latch grabs the shell directly behind the rim and holds it in a death grip This remains all the way to the back and when moving the fore-end to the front: The lifter flips up The RH carrier latch releases (about halfway) and the shell shoots out of the loading port. Assuming that the tab on the RH carrier latch is there for a reason, it does seem like the timing of engaging that grip is off. I can see where the RH action bar engages the notch on the RH carrier latch and it seems the engagement of that grip could be delayed by filing the contact point on the action bar accordingly. Would that make sense?
  11. Right, the follower was exchanged to the correct Supernova type. I just sat down and played with it again. Seems my above assumption was incorrect. The shell does get released beyond the release tab, but then the notch right above the tab I marked in my picture gets activated and it locks the shell by friction. So when I move the pump all the way back, I can see the shell was released for about 1/8 of an inch or less but I am not able to manipulate the shell at all at that point. When moving the pump forward, it quickly releases the friction and the lifter slings the shell out the loading port.
  12. I haven't touched the gun since, but I'm attempting heavy limited again. So I took it out and I'm still having this malfunction. I've read about problems with sticking lifters, but from what I observed, it's working correctly. It seems however, the new round is sometimes not released from the tube or sometimes gets hung up long enough to be released when moving the fore-end forward and the shell gets (violently) ejected though the loading port. What I can see, is that the case sometimes gets stuck behind the left tab instead of resting against the release tab on the right. I tried to take some pictures. I hope they tell the story. Shells with a brass rim do better than the cheaper Winchester white boxes or Remington Gun Club stuff. I'm thinking to round/polish the tab a bit, hoping that will keep shells from hanging up. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance!
  13. I've read quite a few stories about wrecked dies and chambers/barrels as a result of nickel particles/flakes. What's the verdict: Fact or fable?
  14. Anything but Hanes; they don't feel right in Crocs.
  15. Thanks, that is exactly what popped up several times during my search. As for the experiment itself, the verdict is in: I swapped back from the light RM to heavy after 5 rounds. Way more pleasant to shoot - less violent.
  16. From what I've read is that light is for 9 and heavy is for 40 and 45 and that recoil masters are not PF specific. Still, I've loaded some .45 185 HP's @ 720fps for my Apeiro and I'm wondering if there is anything that would make an experiment with a light recoil master a bad idea. Thanks!
  17. Corbin makes a stand that seems to work for their 50bmg press: http://www.corbins.com/pr-csp-s.htm
  18. We just watched all seasons in about 2 weeks. I can't handle 1 episode a week anymore, so we're just saving the new season up and watch 'm back to back.
  19. Quote: My setup is in the laundry room, but I would prefer it in the office or family room. Done that for a while. Didn't like the humidity caused by laundry activities. Told her the washer had to move to the attic.
  20. I don't know the difference in noise levels between the 1200 and 1500, but I do believe the noise of my 1200 is insignificant compared to the Shopvac hooked up to it.
  21. I have the "old" Mr Bulletfeeder and use a cable tensioner between the bracket and the wall. Works wonders.
  22. Chutist, you had me puzzled for a bit until I paid attention to the smiley.
  23. Co-exprs, thank you for the 8208 tip! I just finished an AR 308 with JP18" barrel and my 45.0 grain 4064 load gets me barely 2600 fps in 30F temp and on top of it primers are flat beyond comfort level (start to back out). Tried some 8208 with the following results: LC brass, CCI200, SMK135, OAL 2.760, 30F temp. 43.0 - 2650 fps 43.5 - 2676 fps 44.0 - 2760 fps 44.5 - 2800 fps 45.0 - 2833 fps Noting that 43.0 and 43.5 have high ES (doesn't affect accuracy @ 100y much though). Getting ~0.75 moa @ 100y from 44.0 and up, No pressure signs. Showing off my (first AR) homegrown toy.
  24. (Un)availability of Schuemann barrels is what the STI rep told me. It kind of sounded like they would use Schuemann again if they were available.
