  1. Sounds cool. Are the Friday competitor slots a one day shoot? Do you have to be present to collect prizes?
  2. All the mods in the world are no substitute for skill. The best shooter will still win out.
  3. Start with someone's coated bullet load. The extremes will be slower so you can work your way up from there.
  4. Great answer! I do try to exit when I am not reaching around a wall/barricade or through a port though.
  5. Sig MAX is a heck of a buy! It comes with dawson ice magwell, Koenig ignition, and great sights. I use the Wilson 47 mags with extended pads to help seat them easier.
  6. I never even thought that a bushing would dry rot either. Freak accident, but we wanted to share because it only takes a few seconds to check for somethinb like that. Thanks
  7. Happened last Sunday! He had surgeon open it up today to flush, clean, stitch, & staple. They only had to open the entry & exit wounds so he was lucky. Tough kid, never cried and really didnt realize it happened until we pulled his pants down to look. First thing i did was check the safety and hammer tensions. Couldnt make the hammer fall so i got his belt rig holstered the gun and felt a sluggish snap into place and held the empty holster up to the light and saw that damn bushing wedged between the kydex out of place. I bet neither he nor I will put our rig on again without checking again! I even special ordered him a RHT double kydex this time. We are scheduled to shoot Alabama Sectional on March 9th and he says he wants to try to make it. Could have a lot worse for sure.
  8. One thing people may neglect is to inspect your holsters for maintenance and/or safety issues. My 12 year old had a kydex holster that had an upper rubber bushing dry rot and place itself high enough to engage the trigger when holstering his 1911. He had bumped his safety off pre maturely and got shot in the thigh. Bullet entered just below muzzle and exited just above the back of his knee. No bone or blood vessel damage and is healing great. We always check the cleanliness of our guns and function test the safeties at every cleaning(we clean after every outing, and complete disassembly every 2 months). But I never check our holsters or mag pouches unless they feel loose, by which time I usually have to hunt replacement screws. The holster was about a year old and I just would never had thought about this happening. Well it did and we will be inspecting our gear before each outing from now on. God was looking out for my son and I don't want to see it happen to anyone else. REMEMBER GEAR INSPECTIONS!
  9. They make level 5 back pack inserts for around $189. You can buy them in various sizes and their weight it about the same as a 3 ring binder with paper.
  10. How does it compare to E3? Cleaner, or softer shooting? I am looking to place a powder order soon and try to get 24 lbs per order. I can't stand having little jugs lying around partially used.
  11. And to think, I have spent a ton driving to the range when I could be using those old encyclopedias finally! ?
  12. Dido Springfield Armory has a customer service that is hard to beat. I put 70,000+ through an xd tactical and told them nothing in the gun was factory except the extractor and ejector and they still warrantied my gun in less than a week. All I paid was shipping!
  13. I set it at 2lbs. It comes with the Koenig ignition. It also came at 5lbs. Not favorable to me. I like a good crisp 2 lbs. Everything else was great. I recommend using the Wilson 47 mags with extended pads to help seat. The Dawson magwell is also a great factory item that comes with
  14. We are booked up until September with matches to attend, but I would love for my son and I to attend one either late this fall or early next year. If you could keep me in mind it would be much appreciated. I am trying to host a mini junior camp first of next year. Wonder if he would work with juniors that have level 2 match experience?
  15. Been running a Sig max for couple years. Did trigger work myself, but the Koenig ignition is very nice for a factory gun. Best 1911 we have owned so far.
  16. Thanks for the info. I guess a dust cover would help in the heat, and maybe a hot hand inside the dust cover in the cold?
  17. How do the metal grips affect people at extreme cold or hot temps?
  18. Where did you take JJ's class? How did you find out about it? I really enjoy his instructional videos on you tube.
  19. Rule changes don't bother me per say...it will help RO make calls without having to read someone's email that got " special" permission for their after market parts. But from a competitor stand point: It will not change the match results. I learned real quick after making a comment along the lines " if that guy swapped guns with me, we would trade spots" so we did and yeah he still beat the neck out of me...only difference was he done it this time with a gun he had never shot before! Talk about humble pie! For those who think the most expensive toy wins, save your coin for more practice. It will benefit you far more.
  20. Shooting limited. In a match had a stage with 3 no shoots covering most of target at 7yds. .68 center A zone. Most stages I am .8ish. I am not real fast so I make up for speed by getting the most out of my draws and reloads. Every tenth counts in this game. If you can get .5 of a jump on the draw over the next guy, then you are taking 2-3 shots from him and that is huge!
  21. XDM for sure! Springfield will even do the trigger work and put it under their warranty. The 5.25 competition is an awesome gun!
  22. I hand prime my rifle brass and had one go off. It's loud and does flash. It was a crimped primer pocket and I had been priming for a couple hours and just squeezed it in...got a little surprised when it went bang. Rang my ears pretty good.
