  1. I don't agree. I shot both and I'd pick a Stock III any day of the week! The only things I envy from the Shadow 2 is the finish, the lack of firing pin safety and the DA, but you guys can use the BOLO in USPSA so I wouldn't worry about the DA. The Stock III's recoil is way softer than the Shadow 2's, it is virtually non-existant. Much cheaper, too...
  2. IMHO: - Under 90% is bad - 90-95% is fine - 95% is perfect - Over 95% is slow I'm usually between 90 and 95%.
  3. I've seen a CZ Shadow with no chamber. No reaming AT ALL! So unfortunately it must be quite common.
  4. Well, I've had both but I only have one powder measure so the difference in price is not outrageous. That being said... it is night and day! The cheap eBay one is just a way of adjusting the powder measure in an easier way, while the DAA one is click-adjustable (good for repeatability) and will not move.
  5. I've had Uniquetek's micrometer and I never got to install it because I didn't like it. I now have DAA's click wheel and I like it a lot. I also have Prairie Dog's powder baffle.
  6. I used to. Tight fit but possible! It is now a tight fit on my 1050 w/bulletfeeder and 1050 cover, too.
  7. I agree... there's something to the Hornady dies: they are the best ones by far!
  8. Thanks for the heads up, I just got a Stock III Special (nickel plated) last week and I use Birchwood Casey's Gun Scrubber. I'm going to dig on the subject before cleaning it for the first time!
  9. Nice machining! I have the Everglades Ammo one but it is still in its bag. I'm hesitant of installing it because I think that the hole was meant to be clear in case of an accidental primer ignition.
  10. How many rounds is pretty quick? I've had my F&FB shellplate since I got my S1050 new and put 10.000 rounds through it. I just got my Mark 7 but couldn't change the index pawl, not even after breaking my punch! That thing is almost welded... I'm thinking about getting a whole new rocker arm and pin.
  11. I don't get that coke-bottle effect using Hornady Custom Grade New Dimension dies... not even with .356 plated bullets! And they chamber flawlessly:
  12. I've had an XL650 and now I have a Super 1050. I can't imagine how automating a 650 would be a good idea unless it is for brass processing only...
  13. Nice work! I have the Hornady rings which, IMHO, are the best ones BY FAR. BUT... there is too little clearance between dies in the 1050's toolhead and it is very hard to adjust the dies.
  14. I'd have a manual 1050 over an autodriven 650 every day!
  15. I'd use a 1 inch deep socket with a ratchet.
  16. I don't think that you should choose a reloading machine based on the amount of rounds you reload a year. I think that it is a decision you have to base on what features you want on a press, how much work you are willing to do and how much money you are willing to spend. I enjoy reloading, I love machines, I shot 16k rounds last year, and I will try to shoot 30k this year. I have a 1050 with bulletfeeder now, and a Mark 7 PRO on the way.
  17. Unfortunately I can't help you because I don't use the swage function.
  18. It is easy to take the screw out. First remove the "Carrier Cap" (Part #11010) and the screw should be visible. Then use a small flat screwdriver to turn it, you may need to use a hammer but it should be quite loose. After a couple of turns, the tip of the screw should come out and you should be able to take it out with pliers.
  19. Hmm-hhmmmmm rule, LOL. I have the tool but I didn't know how much torque to use. What do you suggest?
