  1. My 1050 has 2k from new also, and all of them with the F&FB shellplate. Maybe I should get the F&FB index pawl to match! Make sure your bench is sturdy before loading with the 1050. VERY STURDY!
  2. How many rounds should I expect from my Dillon index pawl with F&FB shellplate before it breaks? I operate the machine manually.
  3. The Mr. Bulletfeeder powder funnel and both Lyman's and Redding's expanders make a two-step expansion which is way better than anything else. Have you tried it? You'll never go back! And if you use a bulletfeeder, it is mandatory.
  4. Certainly, you don't NEED it... but the Lyman provides better expansion that the Dillon expander. I'd use Dillon's expander together with the Mr. Bulletfeeder powder funnel, I forgot that Dillon's expander doubles as the swage hold down rod until JJ pointed it out.
  5. The F&FB shellplate helps in the smoothness of the operation, IMHO. I use Hornady Custom Grade New Dimension dies, and the sizer die goes very low on the case. In order to go so low, the "funnel" of the die is very small, so if the case isn't perfectly aligned, its mouth will jam against the bottom end of the die. It happened to me on the 650 pretty often and less often in the 1050 with the stock shellplate. The F&FB shellplate is so precisely machined that it makes the machine a breeze to run! I wouldn't buy Dillon's expander either, I'd get either Lyman's M-Expander or Redding's expander. And regarding the powder funnel, I'd get DAA's one, the one supplied with the Mr. Bulletfeeder. Those upgrades may be expensive but they are worth every penny! And I'd probably look into F&FB's swage rod but I can't give you any advice on that one because I don't have it. Regarding the individual conversion parts that you need, I can't help you with that either but I'm sure that a Dillon sales rep would sort that out in the blink of an eye! I'd buy the COMPLETE Small Priming System instead of the individual conversion parts, too. The clear plastic tab is great. I also got every Level 10 Innovations upgrade available except for the primer catch kit and I regret that because the primer cup supplied with the 1050 sucks! And finally... the ergo handle. I had the one made by InLine Fabrication in my 650 and I loved it. BUT I don't know how big of an upgrade it would be over the standard 1050 handle which is already a roller one. I'm second guessing on that one as well.
  6. If I were you, I'd get a F&F Brass Shellplate for 9mm and buy the rest of the conversion parts individually. That shellplate ROCKS! It is one of the best upgrades I got for my 1050, and believe me... I got a lot of those.
  7. Thanks everyone for the input! German Romitelli, one of Argentina's top IPSC shooters (9th at the last IPSC WS, 5th at the last IPSC EEO and winner of the Production Super Six), shoots with just one eye opened. That, too, clearly shows that it can be done... but I feel limited and sometimes my face hurts from closing one eye. So I will start training it slowly after the Nationals next month.
  8. ...should I force myself to change? I am pretty accurate but I sometimes feel that I am loosing speed especially in the draw and in transitions. What do you guys think?
  9. We had this happen at a local IPSC Level III match this year... the popper thing I mean. Remember it was IPSC and not USPSA, so the rules may be different, but this is what happened: 1) Shooter hit the popper in the calibration zone and it didn't fall. 2) RM shoots the popper with the match gun & ammo and it falls. 3) Shooter asks what factor the ammo was, RM said it was 125.000 but the shooter requested for it to be chronoed. 4) RM chronoes the ammo = 132.000 power factor, so the shooter got a reshoot because in Appendix C1 of the IPSC rulebook, it states that poppers should be calibrated using ammo with a power factor between 120.000 and 125.000.
  10. Just order from Dillon... with Standard Shipping you should have it delivered in 4/5 business days from the moment you place your order.
  11. Muchas gracias Mario! Lo mismo para vos si volvés por Buenos Aires! All shooters are welcome down here! If anyone is coming and would like to shoot a match, just PM me!
  12. Expanding a bit on my previous post... today I had my longest reloading session ever: 750 rounds of 9mm. My previous one was 600 with the 650 and that took me 1 hour of press time and about 2 hours in total because of the breaks I had to take. Today it took me 45 minutes from the moment I took the cover off my 1050 until I put it back on. It is really THAT much better on my shoulder. 200 straight pulls of the handle without catching a break, I still can't believe it!
  13. Thanks for the pictures! Regarding the round counter, I use the PressCounter II built by Alan from SA Developments. I think he is a member here, too. He quit producing this units because they weren't profitable to him but I think he still has some laying around. IIRC, the plain counter was $50 and the statistics version was $60.
  14. I use the Hornady one and I've done so for the last 20.000 reloads. Not a single problem... and I use crappy range brass with cast bullets.
  15. What did you do to it? Could you show a picture of it, please?
  16. Resume shooting? We never stop here, haha! Summer, winter, 100+ degrees, 30- degrees... rain... we have matches almost every saturday and sometimes even on sundays too! Thanks everyone for the warm welcome!
  17. I use Hornady locking rings on my 1050 and I used to use them on my 650 too. I love them but I'd never recommend them to someone who plans on removing the dies often, which is not my case as I only reload 9mm.
  18. Short version: don't think about it anymore, go for the 1050. Long version: I broke just about everything you can break in my right shoulder 9 years ago playing rugby. 8 years ago I had surgery and it went great but my shoulder will never be at its 100% again. I started shooting IPSC last year and got an XL650 because that is what everyone recommended me, and everything was perfect... casefeeder, bulletfeeder, and probably every accessory available out there for the 650. That was until I put my hands on a 1050. Man, I saw the light! So gentle on my shoulder you wouldn't believe it! So, being the compulsive buyer that I am, I bought a Super 1050 less then a month ago. I used to be able to load no more than 50 rounds without catching a small break with the 650, and yesterday I went through 300 rounds like a breeze with the 1050! The difference is HUGE! The only thing I regret is not getting a 1050 in the first place! You could probably get an RL1050 on the used market for not a lot more than a new XL650 with a casefeeder, and that would probably even be better than the Super 1050 because the stroke is shorter in the old press AFAIK. The 650 is the best press in the whole world... but the 1050 is from another planet!
  19. Hi everyone! I'm Nico from Argentina. I shoot IPSC Production with a Tanfoglio Stock III and I reload with a Dillon Super 1050. I do have other guns and presses but those two get 99% of my time and attention!
