I just ordered my first 2011 in 40, however, I live in one of those sad states where I have to shoot L10. I'm just trying to figure out what all of my mag options actually are before I go forward. MBX makes an 140mm L10 mag with basepad out the door which is what I'm probably going to do. Does STI make a 10 round gen2 mag? If they are 126s, I suppose I could do a +0 basepad, but by then they would be the same price as the MBX mag. Just trying to explore all my options first. Thanks guys. I don't think the reliability of 9mm 1911's has much to do with the gun itself, but rather the combination of the magazines and your bullet choice. You just need to figure out what works best. I had some nose dive issues with my Tripp mags and the flat point 147s I was using, switched to round nose 125s and never had any problem after that. As a side note, it says these hold 2 single stack mags per pouch, but this isn't really true. It's a very tight fit and if you have extended basepads it really won't fit. That being said, I just use it one mag for pouch, but am still very happy with these. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk

You can definitely reload in a small apartment. It's not optimal, but you can do it. My 550 is bolted to a 2x10 and when I want to reload, I clamp it to a table. I've loaded thousands and thousands of rounds this way and it works just fine. It's annoying to set everything up and tear it down but I just make it a point to do large batches at a time. They are in the Miscellaneous section of this forum, but I think there is a forum post restriction before you are able to see all of that. I've been researching this quite a bit myself over the last few months as I'm in the market for a limited gun and here are the conclusions I came to not counting the RIAs since I'm not considering those. Remaining stock of Edges: 2000 Bul Armory: 2100 with plastic grip CK Limited Solution: 2100-2800 depending on picked options with plastic grip, 3300ish with metal grip PT Honcho: 3000 base level gun with aluminum grip I think these are all the major options before you start getting into 4k+ territory. 2011 and cheap aren't usually found in the same sentence. The Rock Island / Para option is cheap and certainly there, but if you are on a budget you can get a much better gun if you are willing to go used. The classified section always has lots of previously loved 2011s that are perfectly good guns. Dawson still has STI Edges in both 40 and 9 the last time I looked, I think that's just about the cheapest you are going to get without going the para route. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk

I was always under the impression that when dealing with lead or cast bullets that generally these are oversized to seal against the barrel properly since it's a softer material. Pretty much any other manufacturer of coated bullets uses .356 and .401 for 9mm and 40 respectively. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk

I'm going to be starting to load 40 for the first time and plan on using Blue 180's as I've loaded tons of Blues for 9mm and love them. With 9mm, they offer a special .356 profile which I have had to use as they are far more accurate in my barrel. Enough people have preferred the .356 obviously for them to offer that alternative profile. With 40, they only have one profile in .400 which is undersized like all of their default bullets. That being said, I haven't seen any complaints on the 40 forum about this at all in comparison with the 9mm forum. Is this just not really an issue with 40? Sorry if this is dumb, I really don't know anything about this caliber yet and all the other cast bullet manufacturers typically size to .401 Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk

I really like the idea of the Staccato XL. It looks good on paper and I'll give STI the benefit of the doubt and say that it's probably reasonably well built. I just can't get by the price. This isn't a custom gun, and when it comes down to it, they are turning out lots of these in production fashion. At 3k+ you are right in the range for some very nice semi-customs where production numbers are vastly lower and more care is taken during the build. Even 2500 would have been a better price point for this gun, but hey, if all the Timmys scoop these up at 3300, more power to them. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk

I love my 1911 and CRUSH the SS division at my local match. There are two other people in it, but make no mistake, I always get at least 3rd I remember this one match last year where we had 5 people. That was a tense moment. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk

I can't comment on the CR speeds, but I have the Racers with the single stack inserts. I couldn't be happier with them. Even though they are double stack mag carriers, the SS insert works perfectly and doesnt seem to be a compromise at all. The only relation is that the S in SVI used to be the S in STI, but that was back in the 90s. I dont think there is any comparable anything between the two. I think this comes with the vision change of the company. Outside of competition circles, nobody knew who STI was. After their re-focus on the more tactical end of the spectrum and the crazy amount of press they generated by getting a spot in the John Wick movie, they are appealing to a much bigger and wider audience now. That being said, because they don't seem to be very competition focused anymore, I'm not overly interested in their products given the price points. That doesnt make me an STI hater or anything, I have a Trojan that I wouldn't trade for anything. This is why I ended up switching away from the ICE magwell. I loved the magwell, but even with the dawson competition basepads, only the back corner of the basepad would stick out below the funnel so I found myself under inserting mags quite a bit. I probably would have tried the ipsc version if I knew that worked at the time, but just switched back to S&A and haven't missed the ICE too much. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
