  1. I don't disagree that it's a little silly, but I think it's the price point that makes it interesting. If it's cheap, has a low footprint, and it actually works, why not? Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  2. I really like the coating on the blue bullets. Most other coated brands use Hitek, which I've shot a ton of and they always performed great, but at least from my experience, the blue bullets coating produces less smoke overall. This is unimportant if you shoot outdoors most of the time, but I shoot indoors quite a bit. The only thing with blues is that they are undersized at .400, so depending on your barrel, they could be less accurate than other cast bullets which will be .401 They make a special order profile for 9mm for .356, but unfortunately it doesnt look like they do that for 40. 3. Even the budget 1911s will shoot better than you will for the accuracy needed for action shooting. The RO is a great gun and I would personally spend the money on some other things that would benefit you a lot more. 4. The problem is that I do a lot of indoor matches in the winter and I haven't really found a set of plugs that reduce the noise enough and still let me hear the range commands clearly. This is why it's been hard to make the switch from my electronic muffs.
  5. Has anyone had an accuracy problems at all with the blues being sized at .400? You can order the all of the blue 9mm bullets with a special order profile of .356, but it seems that they don't do that (.401) for their 40 cal bullets. I'm new to 40 and was wondering about that. 6. Bummer. Really liked those bullets. Thanks for the confirmation. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  7. Another vote for the plastic bag method. I just generously spray in inside of a gallon plastic bag with One Shot, dump a bunch of cases in, and then work the lube on the cases by squeezing the bag. The lube doesn't get inside the cases this way, so the powder won't stick to the sides of the cases when measuring charges. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  8. Raising this topic back from the dead. Does anyone know if H&S went out of business? I went to order some more bullets and the website is gone, Facebook page as well.
  9. Yup, did the same thing on my second match. I was about to bend over to grab my mag with gun still in hand, but the RO sensed what I was about to do and gave me a sharp warning before I did it. He probably could have DQ'd me, but I guess he was feeling generous Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  10. Sweet. Just ordered an 8. Threw some primers in there for good measure. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  11. I really would like to get a pair of these, but the only thing that's stopping me is that they don't look like they will fit under a pair of muffs without messing up the seal. Can anyone chime in on this? Edit: I see the post further up saying that they don't really work with muffs. That's too bad. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  12. I don't wet tumble anymore, but when I did I used these pins. https://stainlesstumblingmedia.com/shop/stainless-tumbling-media.html I never had any problems with any of them getting stuck in the flash holes or cases. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  13. Unique used to be under the Hercules brand before it got bought out by Alliant. My father gave me a pound of unopened Hercules Unique from the early 80s. It smelled fine when I opened it and loaded a bunch of 9mm with it. As long as it was stored correctly, its likely fine. I used current Unique load data and it shot just fine, although I started with the minimum charges just to be sure. The original Hercules version is as dirty as a coal mine, but it works. Newer Unique is significantly cleaner. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  14. I'm not knocking the Dillon case feeder by any means but a 300 case feeder on a 400 press doesn't make sense. If this is really going to be 120 bucks and it works as well, this will be a great addition for a 550. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  15. Around June this year. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  16. For 100-120 bucks, I might just have to try this when it comes out. I know folks have mixed feelings about putting case feeders on the 550, but this looks like it just bolts to the primer tube and is very simple/lightweight. The question would be what is the capacity, and what if any time is saved when you have to refill the case tubes (kind of like the mini bullet feeder). Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  17. I've seen a few "gun safe" threads in this forum, I thought this might be a cool discussion. I always assumed that I would end up buying one of those multi-thousand dollar gun safes when my gun collection grew to that point, but have entertained the idea of converting an empty closet to serve that purpose. Has anyone done something like this? I realize that this would be a lot more than simply throwing a reinforced door and frame on a closet, i.e. reasonable fireproofing, a thief could just smash through the drywall next to the door, etc. I feel like this would be a cool project and would end up with more room on the inside, and not have a huge hulking safe somewhere in the house. I've read various things about a lot of those big expensive safes being a joke for thieves to get into anyway. Anyone do this? Pics of your setup? Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  18. I'm probably going to go from the 550 to the 650 at some point when I get more space. I "want" the 1050, but any way I look at it, it doesn't make sense for my production needs. If I can do 500-800rph with a case feeder and MBF, that's good for me. Even if I doubled my current shooting output, it would only be a few hours a month. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  19. I don't think it matters if they sell a single pistol. This is about the publicity of being featured in a huge movie series that most gun people like for the entertainment value. Personally, I think it's a great move even if the gun is ridiculous (which it is) lol. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  20. According to info on their website between 15-18. https://www.thebluebullets.com/aboutus.asp Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  21. Is it pretty obvious when you have a squib? I've never had one and always worry a little that I wouldn't notice if I was blazing through a stage. I'm pretty careful when I reload, but you never know I guess. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  22. I know I'm late to the party here, but in my opinion it just isn't worth buying a traditional Office license anymore, and it's Microsoft's ultimate goal to eliminate is purchasing model anyway. For under $100 bucks a year you can just purchase an Office365 Personal Subscription. Any new versions of Office are covered by the subscription, you can install it on as many personal computers as you want, and you get 1TB of OneDrive cloud storage with that as well. 23. Overall I don't really care, I just shoot my division and that's what I concentrate on. However, the only thing that slightly irks me is that it seems to water down the classification system. I know at least 2 D class pistol shooters who just rolled in with a PCC and magically became B class USPSA shooters. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  24. Its not there anymore. I think what everyone is trying to figure out is if this page https://stiguns.com/product-lineup/edge/ Was there before and they removed the link because the gun is dead, or if it's a new page and they are relaunching the gun. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  25. It's obvious that STI is trying to reinvent themselves to appeal to the more high end tacticool mainstream market. I'm sure you'll be able to buy cargo pants with that cute 2011 logo soon. I guess I can't really blame them for that business wise. Outside of competition, I've never met anybody who even knew what an STI was. If the Edge is gone, that's a real bummer. It was a great price point to get people into a good shooting 2011. What's the next option for a 2011 in the 2000-2500 range now? Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
