  1. There are great targets online that will compensate by keep in mind it is generally close, and not exact... The ammo manufactures can also provide you the ballistic tables for your ammo. The issue I see a lot is people will buy cheap ammo to train with. They will zero to that, and then try to use match ammo at comps. This will play hell with accuracy.
  2. As one who has played with that crap extensively, throw that out. That crap is useless. Even in its intended use it sucks. If you like your guns, throw it out. You don't want clean that crap out of your guns. As for the brass sell it and buy real brass.
  3. The easiest answer is try them all... Have fun with it. Each has its own challenge. Limited gives you the most play with. Master Limited major, then minor. You can better your reloads with limited 10... which helps you in all divisions. I won't lie, I am confused by production and limited 10. I understand that it is the gun, but that is the only difference.
  4. .40 is the place to start. You want to start in limited major. It gives the best chance to learn. You get a good scoring scale, and more ammo. Don't let the limited title fool you.
  5. It is in the end physics... Lighter bullet is moving faster, flatter trajectory, but recoil is sharper. heavier bullet moves slightly slower, recoil is slightly less. Newton's laws of motion. In the pistol world trajectory is going to be minimal.
  6. confused a bit by not shooting through a door. In the tactical world you would still "pie" the door as to clear as much of the room as I can. Badges are not bulletproof. Especially if I am by myself or I have the time. USPSA and IDPA in this case just show me my limits. It's nice knowing the targets don't shoot back.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. If it is good for him, its good enough for me!
  8. I am amused by the term gamer! IDPA is a game, an technically we are all "gamers". Even in the real world we all looking for an edge. Each stage is a puzzle we as shooters are trying to unravel. Identify-Assess-React. Works in the real world too. The guys that love the term "gamer" are the the guys who are getting beat repeatedly, but instead of raising there level of play, the gamers obviously cheated. Unless IDPA starts running blind stages, everybody is gaming. Some better then others. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. That has a very simple elegance... Nice gun
  10. There are two Benny Hill "Hell Holes" in the barrel which I believe are 3/16", the barrel is 4.9" so it's sort of a mid length bull barrel gun. I bought the comp used with the slot already cut in the top; from all the pictures I've seen of these comps, some have holes in the comp, some have slots, but they all seem to incorporate at least some barrel ports. This one looks like it has seven holes in the barrel plus the slot in the comp: I like the Akai guns
  11. If it doesn't, thank you for sharing anyway
  12. I like the bronze one... That is a good looking pistol
  13. Very nice gun, built by a guy that know a little about guns too. I want to ask if the slide racker is the ball/detent and swichable from left to right? Doug did that per your request, correct? Great idea. Nice gun
  14. Not completely. There may have been some thinking going on, as in planning what I was going to do. And also visualizing what I needed to see. But it was all done with detachment. No care about whether I did what I planned to do, or not. It's a difficult state to reach. Always. (When the doing happening.) Thank you
  15. This a deep subject... The military sights you used were fixed standard sights, so you are taught how to compensate for them. Today you can buy every height and width of sight you want. That being said what do you want your sights to do? They ultimately dictate what hold you will need for that gun. If not go to the Dawson Precision site, they can guide you in the buying process, to get the sights to get the most out your gun.
  16. sports that require footwork, agility, and hand/eye coordination. Ping Pong
  17. Any sport that puts you on an Island, racing yourself and a clock. I am not sure how golf counts.
  18. That doesn't mean that is the right answer. We have lost focus on the purpose and honestly of the sidearm. Any soldier being asked to clear rooms should have a sidearm as back up. POPs is getting soldiers killed. As for the original post, You need to brief as a benefit to DC for the tactical benefits of increasing weapon proficiency, showing the combat applications of competitive shooting. Also describing the cost saving of such a venture. When was the last time AMU came to you, or you sent someone to AMU. Get with 5th grp SFAUC committee, use them as a model. The issue will be travel expenses, weapon maintenance, ammo allocation, and always manning. Ultimately it is a tough sell. Getting units to allow soldiers to support the 10miler teams are hard enough. I agree with Sarge, buy a shirt start winning things representing the Division, and get lots of pictures then maybe the DC will care.
  19. The rules already cover that, in states with restricted capacity Limited is restricted to the state limit. Of course that doesn't cover the fact that in theory those folks can't compete at the national level due to a presumed lack of equipment. Of course, revolver is eliminating itself if we are honest. Agreed
