  1. +1. A lot of precision rifles are getting shorter...16-18" barrels. It depends on the cartridge how short you can go without losing too much fps. Barrel length doesn't have that much to do with the actual accuracy.
  2. CZ seems to be one of the only major gun companies left that doesn't offer an optics ready pistol from the factory. I'm guessing once they release the full size P10, an OR model will be on the way shortly. What about an OR Shadow or P09? Will it happen? Do you guys think we'll be seeing an optics ready pistol from them soon?
  3. I have a Mark III without the replaceable grips panels. One complaint of mine is the very narrow grips. On the newer models with replaceable grips, are thicker grips available? Which thick ones do you guys like?
  4. I shot my first match last month, so I looked at their target stands. They have probably 5" long 2x4" rectangle tubing with eye bolts drilled and welded in. The cut off about half of the eye to make it a hook. Then they had 1" tubing for the stand frame with another piece of 2x4" tubing for the upright 2x4 wood upright to fit in.
  5. I think actually practicing the stages, or at least shooting them some, would really help my times. It seems to be a strategy/muscle memory type thing. I found myself having to think about order or I'd mess up the order on a couple runs.
  6. Ok. I didn't see anything about activity fees, so I'm guessing it will happen Weds. Thanks
  7. We had 5 stages, all of which were the official stages. Will this be enough to be classified or do I have to shoot all the stages or shoot so many matches?

What's it take to put a dot other than the Romeo on it? Adapter plate? How much higher does an adapter raise the dot?

How many rounds in the CZC?
  10. What the problem with poly? I have an SP-01 from '09 that's seen a lot of holster time and it still looks pretty good...Some wear on the rail and slide corners.
  11. Idk what they were saying for the original release date, but they announced the pistol Jan 2016.
  12. The Shadow 2 took almost a year from announcement to "in hand", so...
  13. CZcustom posted on FB that all preorders are filled. They said they have extras available for shipping. They must have received a boat load of them or not had that many preordered.
  14. Don't most gunsmiths carry insurance for stuff like this? I'd be pissed if I had a ruined gun and not reimbursed.
  15. When I bore sighted I was inside, so I mainly adjusted it for windage and just got it close for elevation, since I could only get to about 10-15yds inside. I shot it at 25 yds to sight in. Windage was spot on, elevation-wise it was shooting low about 4 or 5 inches. I adjusted, shot again, and it needed a little more. I adjusted more and ran out of adjustment. I shot it and its pretty close, maybe an inch low. I just stuck the bore sighted in it again and the dots are about stacked at inside distance.
  16. Just got done shooting. I really like the dot. On the timer, I am a little slower, but not as much as I figured... Especially having very little dry fire with it. I did max out the elevation on the dot. I guess having it high on the mount made it necessary to bring the dot way down. It's still shooting a hair low at 25, but close enough. Anyone else have this happen?
  17. Who has made their own Steel Challenge target stands and hanger caps? I think I'm going to make the bases like I do my USPSA target stands, with 1.5" angle steel, but have one upright tube in the center for a 2x4. I have a couple ideas for caps to hang the plates, but wanted to see how others did it. Pics would be great.
  18. Got it on and bore sighted. I'll let the loctite cure tonight and shoot it tomorrow. So far it's not that hard to find the dot. I can see how milling the slide would drop it considerably. I'll definitely consider it if I like the dot.
  19. Thanks guys. I got it. I went to Home Depot and bought a Bernzomatic micro butane torch. It gave me a small pencil flame so I could localize the heat where I wanted it. It still didn't come out super easy, but not bad. I thought I screwed up by using red Loctite for a bit ?
  20. I got the mount today, but ran in to a problem. I tried to remove my Dawson rear, and then remembered I used red Loctite 262, as suggested by Dawson. Loctite says 500 degree heat will break it loose. I tried using a torch to heat a nail and hold it in the set screw, but it didn't work. Any ideas how to get this set screw out? EDIT:. I got it. A butane micro torch heated it up and got it out pretty easily. Now to mount the plate/dot.
  21. I installed a Dawson rear sight on my CZ and used red Loctite 262, as suggested by Dawson. Now I'd like to remove the sight. It won't budge with just an Allen wrench. The Loctite website says 500deg heat will break it loose. I was going to buy a soldering iron, but most only go to 450. I tried heating a nail with a torch and then holding it to the set screw...No dice. I've read a heat gun works, but a little worried about the finish. How can I get this set screw removed?
