  1. When I working for Guy, custom was what the customer wanted, parts, finish, snake belly, checkering, cuts... We would suggest specific parts or changes, however it was the customers choice.
  2. I would be really impressed if a UPS delivery came to my house on a bicycle or trike. That would be a long ride...
  3. I'd like to hear what Dillon thinks but knowing how sharp they are, I believe that if it was something that would work (without damaging the press) they would already offer it. JMHO. Bill Dillon in another thread said they would not warranty if this is used. (Cannot locate the thread now although this thread aludes to it - http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=184900&hl=+650 +swager&page=1 (post #9)
  4. XM193 and 55 grain 223 can put a slight dimple in AR500 plate even at 100 yards, (no marking other than the paint from 308 at 100 yds). Plasma cut AR500 (not water table), softens the edge and makes it more susceptible at the edges. Water table plasma cut is better, although it still shows some degradation towards the edges. Have not tried Laser cut. I have some water-jet cut targets coming in and will post the results when I get a chance to test them. If the results are good (which I expect they will be) all of my rifle rated targets will be water-jet cut in the future. Pistol rated metal targets will probably still be water table plasma cut (as water-jet cutting is more expensive).
  5. We call them Lockwire pliers... We lockwire many things to keep them from backing out due to vibration, especially inside the bearing housings.
  6. Congratulations, kids are fun. Share the love.
  7. The extractor could need fitting (beveling, polishing), not just tension. See this article: http://www.brazoscustom.com/Home.htm - (Select 'Tips & Tricks', then 'Ejection perfection') Edited to add selections.
  8. RO (run the clock) for really good shooters at a level 2 or 3 match and you will see what Flex and Cha-Lee describe. You will see some shooters take a make-up shot on targets with a normal split time and when you score the targets you will see that it was needed.
  9. Either is fine with me, no vested interest. Saying loaded without saying unloaded just makes no sense.
  10. Either that or be re-worded as in post 25.
  11. Would you prefer this wording? 10.5.6 While facing downrange, allowing the muzzle of a handgun loaded or unloaded to point uprange beyond a radius of 3 feet from a competitor’s feet while drawing or re-holstering.
  12. Gremlins. Nah, it's Murphy, see my signature line... (when do you need it to work?)
  13. Chevy Vs Ford... The only real difference is the processing handle, Dillons up down, RCBS side to side.
  14. And some of us get called all hours of any day... Even when you let management know you are not available... Power Plant Maintenance...
  15. There was an article a couple of years ago in front sight about coating targets to make them water resistant, a clear spray coating to the targets and letting them dry. Not sure about cost effectiveness. The corrugated plastic poster board might work, again how cost effective?
  16. I would try running a brush through it first before installing the gas block. Should knock most of it out and you can check the gas hole clear after the brush is run. (Mainly as the barrel is not installed and you should have a brush handy.) Shooting it should be fine also.
  17. I have seen pistols fall out of this style of holster also when the shooter does not ensure the pistol is fully seated in the holster. One of the DQ's at the Area 2 was for the pistol falling out of this style holster during the course of fire.
  18. Is your buddy confusing Barney Fife and the purple Barney?
  19. As was stated earlier from the USPSA rule book: 10.5.6 While facing downrange, allowing the muzzle of a loaded handgun to point uprange beyond a radius of 3 feet from a competitor’s feet while drawing or re-holstering. No issue unless it obviously passes that point. It is very difficult on many carry holsters to draw or re-holster without crossing the 90 degree line (or old 180 rule). (Edited to correct text sizing.)
  20. Filter replacement normal use - odor filter 3 months, prefilter 1 year, HEPA 3 years (these are the typical replacement intervals*). The HEPA filter cost varies with the system I have seen ones from ~ $100 to $200 (I am sure some are higher). (Odor and prefilter are significantly less, about 1/4 the cost or less of the HEPA cost.) (*Lower dirt enviornment extends the life of the filters.)
  21. It should not be an issue, the only part that may be interpeted as prohibiting the skate tape by the slide release that I see is highlighted below. If you want an interpetation of this (to ensure no one gives you problems email John Amidon. From USPSA Rules Appedix D5- 22 Prohibited modifications and features •External modifications or features such as weights or devices to control or reduce recoil (such as, but not limited to, thumb rests or components which could be used as such). •Coned barrels, bull barrels, or barrels with flanges, except in 1911 compact pistols with a barrel length of 4.20 inches or less. (Note: All other barrels must have barrel bushings and conform to factory profile). •Slide lightening, cuts, ports, or any milling deemed to provide a competitive advantage. (Edited to add reference)
  22. I've used quite a bit of TG in 45 ACP and 40, (several thousand of each), it has worked very well. IIRC 4.6 is my load in 45 ACP (at work so I can't check right now).
  23. yeah but how close is it (blow back thing, trigger control, etc) to real thing? As Flatland states, trigger control is still fundamental (firearm or airsoft, poor trigger control = miss, and not using the sights on either is normally a miss too). The blowback simulates recoil although it is way softer, the timing of the gun is different the rest of the stuff is basiclly the same as long as the airsoft gun is the same style and weighs about the same as your firearm. (With the magazine inserted my airsoft and 2011 are really close in weight.) Hope this helps.
