  1. I had this happen a couple weeks ago, and what I think happened is that I was riding the reset and the inertia from the slide closing was enough to break the extra shot. For me, it happened on the first stage, so I broke the gun down and nothing looked off. I finished the match with no more occurrences. Sent from my LGLS990 using Tapatalk
  2. I will definitely look into them. Sent from my LGLS990 using Tapatalk
  3. Bent another but it held up a lot longer after loosening the collet it seems. I guess I'll have to just accept that I'm going to have to readjust it a lot with crimped brass. I have 5 broken/bent pins that I haven't thrown away yet so I'll see if Lee will replace them to add to my spares. Sent from my LGLS990 using Tapatalk
  4. So, I've loosened the collet a little and the pins are sliding a lot, but the pin I've got in now seems to be holding up. It also appears that they don't line up quite perfectly with the shell plate causing them to fatigue a bit but I'm not certain. I'll look into the ebay pins next time I have to restock. I'm dry tumbling and don't have any plans to start wet tumbling, but at least one pin met its fate due to a pebble in the case.
  5. I'm trying to make a dent in my ".223 brass to be prepped bucket" and I am bending and/or breaking pins like crazy. I've probably gone through 10 or so pins in about 1000-1500 cases. It's all mixed brass so there is a mix of crimped, non crimped brass, but there doesn't seem to be a correlation between crimp or head stamp and breaking pins. Has anybody had the same issues, and what are some suggestions to remedy this? This is all on a dedicated 650 tool head with just the Lee die in position 1 and a sizing die in position 2.
  6. I run the same setup, and I've been tempted to try a 13. Maybe I'll switch in a month or 2 after my last major match this year. I just don't want to throw myself off with something unfamiliar.
  7. I have been leaving them loaded lately, partially out of laziness. That way I can focus on planning and shooting. I've been called to the line as the first shooter, while still loading mags, which rushed me and got me out of my ideal mental state. Also, due to schedule constraints, I often arrive to matches as they are starting, so I'm already at a time disadvantage. I haven't noticed any issues with leaving them loaded, but I have had poor performances due to them not being loaded. If it becomes an issue, I'd rather replace springs sooner as opposed to be under more stress at a match.
  8. I will also vote WST. I tried titegroup and n320 in .40 and just didn't care for them. TG burned too hot and I use coated lead bullets, and 320 used more powder to make major, is significantly more expensive, and seemed to recoil harsher. Now, my n320 is strictly for 9mm, which I think it is spectacular for. Sent from my LGLS990 using Tapatalk
  9. Probably already looked into it, but how tight is your shell plate? Sent from my LGLS990 using Tapatalk
  10. I can attest to that. I have never shot anything other than Limited and I still drop unplanned reloads way to often, forcing a second just because I don't know the new round count. I still only carry 2 mags on the belt normally, although I am considering carrying a 3rd more often.
  11. Alright then, thank you for the reassurance. Hope to have it for the next match.
  12. I have been considering getting the SJC's frame weight with the thumb rest option, but wanted to look at an install video to see what was involved before ordering it. I don't want to get it and find out later that I am in over my head trying to install it. I also would really like to not have to send it in to have SJC install it because it is my only Limited Major gun. Has anyone seen a install video? I tried looking but my search-fu has not provided anything.
  13. Bump. Best of luck to Tom, and hope for speedy recoveries from the accident and the surgery! Sent from my SM-T230NU using Tapatalk
  14. I am using Safariland 773's since I can have them on els clips. I run a CR speed belt that I punched holes in for the els clips doing double duty for uspsa and a little bit of 3gun. The pouches are reasonably fast, although i feel like I might prefer them a tad looser. I also wish they had a tad more adjustment on the clips, but it isn't a huge issue. 15. I did this, and I just went with the suggested sizing for the CR Speed belt. The ELS hardware doesn't add any gap to the inside of the belt since the nuts embed themselves.
  16. The Benelli M2 is the most popular from what I've seen, but a lot of people, me included, are using the Stoeger M3000. Second to those seems to be the Remington Versamax. Sent from my SM-T230NU using Tapatalk
  17. I feel like an idiot... I forgot that AZ is on MST this time of year.... Well, hopefully I get added from the waitlist. Sent from my SM-T230NU using Tapatalk
  18. Was there, had a blast shooting both pistol and shotgun for the first time. Shotgun load planning was a new experience, and a good learning experience. Also, lots of thanks to Empowered Firearms in Vista for supporting the participants!
  19. I've had to use my "uh oh" mag more than I'd like to admit. Usually for blown reloads, but I remember at least one time recently that I had a mag lock up due to reloads that were too long.... Get home and "what a surprise..." My seating die had backed out a little. Live and learn.
  20. I wish I had seen this before doing mine. Yours looks a lot better thought out.
  21. What load are you guys using to make minor with plated 147s? Sent from my LGLS990 using Tapatalk
  22. I've never done it so I am only speaking hypothetically, but if toy guns are a no go then I suspect you will have issues with blue guns as well.
  23. Modern guns will 99.99999999% of the time out shoot a new shooter. Nice/expensive gear never hurts unless it cuts into the practice/ammo budget. Shooting a few matches will show that. Also shooting will expose flaws and places to improve. Also borrowing other peoples gear can let them know what is important vs having something with a large price tag. The most expensive gear is not always the best suited for a certain discipline.
  24. Another Fireclean user here, and MPro7 as a back up. I've never had issues, and they run super smooth. I've found most "CLP"s don't run as long and don't feel quite as slick.
  25. Everything I've seen and read about the Stoeger M3000 says it has a great track record. It is next on my shopping list. All of the go fast parts are likely to come from MOA precision. They are one of the vendors on this sight and Tom is a good guy.
