  1. Hello, Can someone please help me measure the DA trigger pull reach on Stock 2? I sold my CZC SP01 Shadow because my short fingers could barely reach the DA pull. I measured the distance (as shown in the attached pic) and it was 3.024 inches from the receding on the grip (where the hand web would be) to the trigger face. I only just need about 3/8 inch less then good to go. I heard the Stock 2 trigger, especially the old style with more curve profile, has less trigger pull reach. It would be nice to confirm that with a number. Thanks!
  2. Would a 5 inch pro slide work on the full size frame? I heard the sear housing are a bit different between the pro vs. full size. If so, I suppose installing APEX competition kit would be a problem?
  3. Just bought 8 mags from 44Mag. Super fast delivery and authentic S&W factory mags $24.99 each. Could not be more happier.
  4. Did you get a chance to measure the trigger reach length? Thanks.
  5. Question for folks using any sort of liquid grip lotion or chalk powder stuff: Have you ever had gun or magazine malfunctions due to the powders ended up on some part of your gun/magazine internals? I tried chalk balls, Pro Grip and one other brand of lotion that I don't remember the name. All 3 of them caused the white powders to go everywhere, my shirt, pants, magazines, ammo, slide stop, magazine release, etc. Although I did not have any malfunctions when I tried them, it has always been on my mind. I don't have sweaty palm. Unless it is the middle of Texas Summer I could get by without any grip enhancer. However, in July, August and September I truly felt the need to keep my hands dry. However, my OCD tendency leads me to think these powders could cause malfunctions during a match. Can someone please prove my fear is totally ungrounded?

    CZ-75 CTS LP P

Does this gun have a decocker? In prod, does this gun start with hammer fully down or half down?

    CZ-75 CTS LP P

Is the DA trigger pull reach on the CTS the same as SP01 Shadow? I got short fingers and could barely reach the trigger on the Shadow DA pull. Looking for a CZ model that has shorter DA trigger reach.
  8. You are correct. My previous keyholes I do think lead shaving played a role in it, which was caused by a complex set of factors, including the Mr. Bullet Feeder expander die vs Dillon die, brass wall thickness, etc. I have identified and fixed that problem a while ago. I have had 0 lead shaving issue for the past few months. The latest updates I just posted were using 0 lead shaving handloads.
  9. Lead shaving issue was resolved. 0 lead shaving. I do believe it has some role in my previous keyhole issues. New problem emerged though. It was puzzling. BTW - I kept the MV at 880fps. I will be testing 930fps next. 1. The tumbling issue went away completely for about 2000 rounds or so when I used exclusively a specific brand of headstamp brass. 0 tumbling at any distance. This is with the BarSto barrel with twist rate of 1:16 2. The tumbling started again when I used the same ammo (loaded at the same time as the ones used in #1 above) to practice with my backup gun, KKM barrel, also 1:16 twist rate. Both my barrels are less than 1 year old. This time, the tumbling is really bad, nearly 80% of the rounds tumble. However, it only happens at <15 yards distance. Once I back off to 15 yards to 30 yards, 0 tumbling. What would make bullets tumble at close range but not far? Why did it only happen to KKM but not BarSto with the same twist rate?
  10. I have KKM and BarSto. KKM was drop-in no fitting, BarSto was fitted by BarSto smith. Yes BarSto is very expensive, 240 for the barrel and 240 for the fitting work/shipping. It is true the BarSto fitted barrel yielded smaller group size than the drop-in KKM at 25 yards (off hands), but it has very short throat and very tight chamber. My 880fps load in KKM resulted in 910fps with BarSto, and any OAL > 1.110'' won't pass the barrel as gauge. Of course the bullet profile (ogive etc) matters but it is very picky. All in all, I feel the improvement from KKM drop-in to BarSto fitted is diminished return at the cost of cost + reliability. If you are shooting IDPA/USPSA, the difference is very small. Psychologically though you probably are better off shooting the most accurate barrel you can find. If APEX uses BarSto barrel as is, I predict it will be very expensive and won't be affordable for most folks. It will be interesting to see if APEX can offer an affordable drop-in version of the barrel (no fitting needed) and can be as good as or better than the KKM drop-in. That would be where I spend my money. After all, APEX is specialized in MPs, and I believe they are more capable than KKM of making a drop-in that can lock as tight as possible yet still function with MPs without gunsmith work. That's the sweet spot.
  11. www.roadrunnersports.com The 2E, however, was not much wider than the standard width. I have to wear 4E to have a comfortable toe box.
  12. Thanks! I tried it on the BOSS hanger (BladeTech holster). Even at the lowest setting, the heel of the butt of the gun still sticks above the belt by 1.5 - 2 inches. This may be gun specific but I do think a even lower setting would still be within the rules.
  13. I went through USPSA rule book and did not see any restrictions on how low the holster can do. It only has limit on "maximum lateral distance of the handgun and mag/speedloaders from the inner side of the belt", and "hip bone" position restriction. Where do you find how low the holster can go in the rule book?
  14. Dry-fire daily 30-45 min. Live fire 1 - 3 times per week depending on my work schedule. From handgun newbie to MA in SSP and ESP it took me 12 months exactly. Have not shot USPSA but looking forward to it.
  15. The exception for unavoidable touching should have you covered. I knew I missed it when reading it... Thanks!
  16. New to USPSA - I read the rule book with the illustrations of how Production shooters should have hands relaxed at sides for normal ready position. With DAA belt/racer pouch and BOSS hanger, everything sticks out an inch or so from my waist line (totally unlike IDPA). This is great for faster draw and reload, but my forearms would touch the holster and mag pouch when relaxed in ready position. Is this OK? If I have to stay clear of holster and mag pouch, my arms would not be relaxed but rather arched a bit with tension. I watched 2014 and 2015 Prod national videos, and the super squad shooters do NOT have their arms touching holster and mag pouch in the ready position. I wonder if it is just a technique to reduce the distance between the hand to the gun for faster draw? Or is it required by a rule I missed in the rule book? Thanks.
  17. Stoeger's DVD "Foundations" talked about trigger slapping. Top guys do slap trigger. My understanding is that you need to mitigate the slapping with solid grip such that your sight picture would still be acceptable at high speed.
  18. For people with wide feet: I stopped wearing Salomon because their shoes are typically very narrow with very small toe box. I started to develop big toe pain after a couple months since I started wearing SpeedCross. I then ordered the Salomon FellRaiser which has 2E (extra wide) but still did not work. Finally I tried with New Balance 1210V2 (Leadville). It has so much better cushion with thick sole and also offers 4E. Very roomy and comfortable. No pain at all after a couple 12-hour matches. I recently also tried the Asics Sonoma that is a very inexpensive trail running shoe (only $50) but with great 4E roomy toe box. It's cushion isn't as good as the Nimbus but I have worn it to a local club match and very comfortable after 8 hours. My most favorite running shoe is still the Asics Nimbus with 4E - I'd only run marathon/half with Nimbus.
  19. Mike, we are probably in the exact same situation. Training for USPSA feels exhilarating. That's what I am planning to stick to exclusively until probably next IDPA nationals. Thanks for offering your experience!
  20. For people who are actively competing in both IDPA and USPSA, during training how do you reconcile the differences in gears (and styles) between IDPA and USPSA and still maintain high skill levels in both? I just recently switched to training with USPSA rig (DAA belt + BOSS hanger + DAA racer mag pouches), from my IDPA setup (511 belt + BladeTech mag pouches). The difference is quite dramatic. I was doing 1.1 sec draw to first shot (10 yard) with vest and IDPA gear, but now I can quite comfortably do sub 1 sec draw to first shot (10 yard) with the DAA stuff (of course without a vest). I briefly tried going back to the IDPA setup and it felt horrible... The same goes with reloads. USPSA does not require slide lock reload, which implies much less grip rotation, i.e. now I just need to rotate grip slightly to hit the mag release vs. having to rotate grip a lot to hit mag release then hit slide stop in IDPA. So basically reloads are much smoother and faster, and I could return to target with a solid grip. All of these are great, but with the lack of clubs/local matches nearby, I can only shoot 1 USPSA (prod) match/month max. I am still going to do quite a lot of IDPA matches (SSP). So should I train in both setups, in alternate days, or should I just training 100% with USPSA setup? For people who have similar experience and plans, what works best for you? Did you lose the speed in draws and reloads in IDPA after you train with USPSA gear for extended period of time? Am I thinking too much? From Vogel's youtube video, it appears he does dedicated training before major matches in IDPA such as nationals/world. I guess for local matches it does not matter much.
  21. Now I see the paragraph about match bumps, but there are so many "may"s that it sounds a bit funny And this is my favorite part of the rule book:
  22. Excellent and inspiring suggestions. Thanks!
  23. Thanks. I did read the rule book back to back once. Pretty straightforward and easy to understand. Gonna read it a bit more. Some newbie questions (might have overlooked some of these in the rule book): 1. Does USPSA have classifier matches besides individual classifier stages in regular matches? The rule book says "twice a year" but I looked around and don't think my local clubs are doing any of that. 2. Does USPSA have match bumps? 3. How many mags should a production shooter carry? I have seen 4 and 5 as the norm. I guess it depends on the stage round count and if the stage starts unloaded or not? 5 be on the safe side? Thanks.
  24. Great suggestions. Those are in fact the metrics that Ben listed in his book for M/GM levels, and have always been my goals. I think C class is what I am expecting to start with. What about movements? Any tips for us slow moving IDPA folks? Thanks a bunch. What about movement? Any tips?
  25. My understanding is 8.1.6 lays the ground for all (factory + aftermarket) mag releases, while 8.2.1.3.3 specifically limits what kind of mag releases are legal for SSP. Is it possible to have HQ clarify this? I'd love to be able to use extended mag release on my MP9 in SSP.
