  1. Isn't there a rule says max round count in a stage is 18? If so, what is the point of limiting number of mags when the rules also force you to shoot to slide lock... Among the three, 1- limit number of mags, 2- you can only drop mags when slide lock and 3- max round count for a stage is 18, I think only 2 (#1 and #3) would be sufficient to make a big difference from IPSC/USPSA. #2 seems an overkill.
  2. The one rule I do not fully understand and dislike quite a bit is that you cannot drop a mag with bullets in it. I think an alternative is to put an upper limit on the number of magazines you can carry and let people drop mags whenever they want. This way, it is clearly different than USPSA and still makes sense.
  3. Cold weather in Texas....are you serious.... We have been shooting matches at 30-40 degrees weather for a few times. I did live in Wisconsin for 10 years but I just started shooting a year ago so I did not know if people shoot outdoors during Winter up there.
  4. I have noticed in training that during cold weathers my muscles tend to react and move much slower than in Summer. Especially the fingers. For example, Bill Drill I could only manage 2.0 sec in Winter vs. 1.8 in Summer. I guess a hand warmer would help. What other tips do you have to improve performance in cold weather shooting?
  5. Need lower bore axis and better slide stop position. Even then there is no way to compete with Walther PPQ M2 5'' I don't see why HK would want to get into this market full of sharks.
  6. I had to pick up the package numerous times in the past, but at least they were on time. That is really up to the postal worker who delivers mail for your neighborhood. Usually ladies would just drop a slip at your door asking you to pick it up at the office, which is perfectly fine if they are on time. It's these 10-day Priority mails that piss me off.
  7. No it's not Bayou's delay. It's the USPS. Nothing to do with holiday season either, because the service degradation started last Oct. when I first had a Priority 1-Day taking 12 days to deliver. My suspicion is one (some) of the postal workers in the chain, most likely at the DFW receiving end just took the time with these heavy packages. I can see from tracking info it took 1 day from LA to TX then sat at DFW for 4 days before getting routed to me. Thanks for the pointers. I will check out Missouri Bullets. Maybe avoiding the LA->TX route may skip the lazy workers in the chain?
  8. I have ordered 20,000+ bullets from Bayou in 3K packages. I live in Dallas, Texas and the usual delivery time with Priority Mail is 2-3 days. However, recently the delivery times have been around 10 days or so, which is absurd because they call these "Priority 1-Day" or "Priority 2-Day". Is this normal to everyone else in other parts of the country as well? Is USPS downgrading all their Priority services? Does anyone know which other vendors sell coated bullets with the same profile as Bayou 147gr (so that I don't have to adjust my Mr. Bullet Feeder), and have great delivery time? I guess more importantly, with guarantied delivery time? I guess I could treat bullets as powder, e.g. hoard huge bunches ahead of time, but bullets are pretty expensive and go really quickly, and I only manage to save up for next batch when my current batch is almost used up. Any suggestions?
  9. This is why most weekends I am driving my boys to various hockey games instead of going to matches... I am so looking forward to retirement but I know other things will give by then.
  10. I just looked at Dawson's web site and they are no longer carrying any adjustable sights for MPs. Does anyone know where to get solid adjustable sights now? The adjustable rear on my backup gun starts to losing the pivot pin... I think I need to replace it. Thanks.
  11. Worked great! It's like brand new now. Thanks everyone.
  12. I use Talon grip tape, sand paper one. I notice after a while there are a lot of dead skin, dirt and grit trapped in some areas on the tape. The traction starts to feel go down with more and more grit in there. What is the best way to remove those? Thanks.
  13. Dot drill tries to attract your eyes to the dot and holes because they are very close. That's why I always screw up with dot drill whenever my eyes start to focus at the dot/ holes instead of the sight, even I can do the 25 yards equivalent consistantly. Ine important aspect of the dot drill is a test of discipline for sure. Sent from my GT-N7105 using Tapatalk
  14. I believe it is legal. BTW - where do you buy the "Target II"? Do you have a link? I looked through CZC web site and I could not find "Target II". Thanks.
  15. How sturdy are these? I have heared stories of LPA sights flying off during matches. Sent from my GT-N7105 using Tapatalk
  16. My best is 1.80 @ 7 yards all alphas. Usually in the 1.9 to 2 seconds range. The time does go faster in Summer and slows down a bit in Winter. Sent from my GT-N7105 using Tapatalk
  17. Makes sense, but I dont' have a Ransom rest. Shooting off sand bags is not my cup of tea. I have repeatedly shot better groups off hands than on sand bags. It is probably just me.
  18. SSS Tungsten + 13lbs recoil spring
  19. Ben's dot drill is my favorite drill. I guess I like it so much that I often extrapolate it to shoot groups with a par time at 25 yards too. I think timed and unlimited time group shooting are both beneficial if you are training for USPSA and IDPA.
  20. Went out and shot the new APEX semi-drop-in barrel today, side by side with the gunsmith fitted BarSto barrel. The result? They perform about the same for me. At 25 yards, average 5-shot group size are both 2-3 inches, standing off hands. I don't have a Ransom rest, and don't want to use bags as the sports I participate never shoot from bags. So this will do for me. I am quite happy with the APEX SDI barrel. It costs me $200 and performs as well as the $500 BarSto gunsmith fitted one. The accuracy with my handloads are above what I expect for my applications - USPSA and IDPA. Below are the 2 APEX groups I shot today. The first group is 1.9 inches slightly above POA, and second 2.8 inches after I adjusted the sight a bit. I am not good at shooting groups so bear that in mind. I don't bother posting result form the KKM drop-in I got, because it was doing 5 inches @ 25 yards the whole time and has been sitting on my backup dry fire gun the whole time. The interesting common trait of both APEX SDI and BarSto gunsmith fitted barrel is that they both fit not only to the slide but also to the frame, unlike factory or KKM drop-in barrel. After gently releasing the slide forward, you need to apply 1-2 lbs of force from the rear in order to make the gun go into full battery. Fired 300 rounds today and 0 malfunctions. The extra bonus with APEX for me is that the 1:10 twist rate has totally eliminated sporadic tumbling bullets for certain headstamp brass when shooting with BarSto barrel. This will be sitting in my match gun going forward. Superb job, APEX. My setup - 147gr Bayou coated, N320 loaded with mixed headstamp brass to 130PF.
  21. The problem with an aftermarket barrel is the overall cost. My buddy just did one, and he has over $1K in an M&P! Gun $600 Sights $120 Barrel $200 +$35 for fitting Apex trigger $100 For $1K, I could buy a CZ Shadow and have a WAY better gun. I've had (several) M&Ps with KKM barrels, and my P320 will shoot circles around them. Gun - $500 (I bought it from KyGunCo for $489 including everything) Sights - If you want full adjustable yes $120 for front + rear Dawson. However, CZ front + rear fully adjustable will cost you much more Barrel - $200 (not sure why $35 for fitting - I am not handy and I did the fitting myself under 30 min) Apex trigger - $80 currently in promotion in several places KKMs drop-ins are as lose as factory barrels. I do agree stock MPs cannot compete with some of the stock plastic guns in accuracy department. However, no one shoots stock guns in matches. I have shot P320 and I think it's stock trigger is not nearly half good as the Walther PPQ M2 stock trigger. The only neat thing about P320 trigger is its auto reset feature that allows you to dry fire continuously without having to rack slide everytime. If I have to shoot a stock trigger, I would choose PPQ M2. Do you see many people shoot PPQ M2? No. Obviously, having the best stock trigger is not a good selling point. To get a decent CZ for competition, you will end up spending $1500. I did just that - CZC Custom Shadow plus VZ grips etc. If you are handy, you can probably buy all the parts and do all the custom work yourself for $1200, but it won't be 100% as good as the CZC work. You still need to do the trigger work, change sights, etc. The only thing you don't need to work on CZ is to change barrel, but CZ barrels have really short throat, and most people have to ream it (maybe for $50 if you know a gunsmith) I do agree a competition ready MP9 Pro 5'' can cost as much as CZ Shadow, if you do all the work yourself on both.
  22. Well, you get accuracy now with APEX barrels: http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=223797 I just finished fitting my semi-drop-in, and will test it out tomorrow at the range and report back. I have BarSto gunsmith fitted, KKM drop-in, and now the APEX semi-drop-in. Would be an interesting comparison.
  23. Won't be legal for USPSA production because the rule only allows 2 oz on top of the factory weight. Won't be legal for IDPA SSP either as it's external mod. I guess you can do this in Limited and ESP, but I am not sure.
  24. Unless you have a coupon or some special discounts at Brownells, I don't see the reason why ordering there, while APEX sells all of these at the same cost and ships the same day: https://store.apextactical.com/WebDirect/Products/Category?categoryId=54 My story with Brownells: I pre-ordered from Brownells on 12/3 last Thursday. I was told Brownells will ship when the barrel is released this Monday. As of today, 12/12, I still don't have the barrel. They delayed the shipping for 5 days. APEX called them and looks like Brownells was too busy to ship these out until we called them a few time. People ordered from APEX directly already got the barrels.
  25. Would the grip lotions also help during winter dry temperatures? I wonder if I should use it all year around. Sent from my GT-N7105 using Tapatalk
