  1. From what I know if you're interested in limited 9mm vs 40 is a major vs minor issue. 9mm major is no benefit in limited as its still minor in limited. To make major in limited you need at least 40 caliber. As for eagle vs edge it depends on what you plan to shoot. If you're staying in USPSA then the edge with more weight in the frame up front would probably be better. If you think you may shoot IDPA then the eagle is legal with a bushing barrel and the edge with the bull barrel is not. So an Eagle 40 with a bushing would be good for both, especially if you reload. Down load the 40 for IDPA and get to 165 PF for limited major.
  2. Not necessarily. When the grip safety is pressed into the frame by gripping the gun, the back of the trigger bow rides under the prong sticking out of the safety. When the grip safety is out (not gripped) the back of the bow hits the prong extending from the safety. Pull your slide off. Let your hammer down, gently against the frame. Looking down from the top of the gun into the mag well. You can see the back of the trigger bow and front of the prong sticking out of the safety. Pull the trigger with and without the safety engaged to see what it is doing. If you don't see that prong at the back of the trigger bow then yes a piece could be missing.
  3. Had the same problem with mine. Loosened the grip screws at the back of the frame and pressed the grip up on the frame and tightened the grip screws back. Fixed my problem. I think it was mostly the grip screw on the right side of the gun was a little bit loose and allowing the trigger to pull under the grip safety.
  4. Sorry I'm not trying to start another thread on reviewing the sight about being good vs bad. I just noticed in reading other threads in this forum, that it looks like the problems related to earlier version may have been remedied with sights built recently within this past year. Seems like comments on recent sights is that they are working out better than those from the beginning. Just trying to confirm that the newest sight have less issues than the earlier ones. Thanks for sharing those experiences on the latest sights.
  5. I haven't tried MG but I do like PD 124 gr HP with 8.0 gr of HS-6 behind them @ 1.165. I get about 174 PF out of my Trubor. And the accuracy has been great.
  6. JMike are these older models say 1 or 2 years old? I'm just curious as I know the long thread shows problems back in 2012 I believe when they brought them out but not much since about June or July of 2015. Thanks
  7. Good to hear things are working out. I was leaning towards the 6 moa version of the RTS2 since that is what my current Cmore has. Is there problems with RTS2's that have dots sizes other than 8 MOA?
  8. Read back thru the forums, seems like the reports beginning about mid summer of 2015 are favorable on the RTS2. Have all the issues with reliability been worked out? Are the sights holding up and preforming well now? I currently have the upright STI mount on my Trubor but would like to go to something closer to the bore. I bought the Cheely horizontal setback mount for my Cmore but never did like how it felt to me on the gun, too much off to my left side plus I don't use a racker so that presented some more problems. I was looking at getting the Cheely mount for the RTS2 and the sight but have been waiting to see if everything is worked out. If any of you have made the switch I'm talking about, how do you like it? If you did and switched back to the upright, why? Thanks
  9. That's kind of strange. I figured the link would break before the pin did. Must me one strong barrel link.
  10. Just remember on adjusting the outside dimensions of the mag - A little bit goes a long way. Use a micrometer or caliper to measure your progress. A couple of .001 can fix your problems a couple of more and cause some more.
  11. You say that 5 or 6 rounds they drop free, when does the problem start? Try loading one round more at a time and see when the hang up. If it is at 9 or 10 rounds there are a couple things you can check. Leave the mags loaded to 10 rounds for a week or so and see if the springs take a little bit of a set. Also the trigger bow could be a little bit tight. If you have a micrometer or calipers measure the mag width when they drop free and when they start to hang up. Measure starting at about the middle of the mag and go all the way to the feed lips. If the mag is swelling with additional rounds you can sqeeze in the sides of the mag with a vise. Also check the mag catch as it could be slightly out of tolerance too. Insert and remove the mag when it is hanging up and see if there is a scratch at the hole on the mag where the catch goes it. Some of this may help.
  12. I'd use an electric heat gun. Anything with flame and you risk discoloring or worse burning the finish on the gun. Removed the mount on my Trubor using electric heat gun, it had red locktite. Your going to need to get it pretty warm. More than you want to touch with your bare hand. You need about 480 degrees to soften the red locktite to be able to break the bond. Much better control if you put the heat gun in a vise and pass the gun frame / mount in and out of the heat. I wouldn't worry about the heat affecting the other screws, once it cools down they will be fine. When I put the new screws in I applied the locktite around the top of the screw on the countsunk part of the head, not the threads into the frame. Locktite between the screw head and the mount will setup and hold plenty good enough to keep the screws from backing out. But I'd probably call Brazos and ask for advise.
  13. If it's the mags use a vice to GENTLY squeeze them back into specs. May need to use some wood blocks or leather to keep from scaring the mags.
  14. Many of us pickup anything, load it and keep shooting it until it splits or looks funny ^^^^^^ yep I confess this I do however try to sort out the crimped in primer stuff simply because I don't like messing with it in major.
  15. +1 on DW pointman PM9. I've had a STI Trojan and shot the RO a bunch in 9mm. The DW is hands down the better gun right out of the box. Best Trigger and best fit and finish.
  16. Has anybody got some data on how much difference you found in between lots? I guess I'm wondering how significant it is.
  17. Anyone ever notice much difference in there reloads with the same powder but different lot numbers? I was wondering if there is enough difference in velocities to worry about not making power factor or going over especially in major loadings.
  18. You can buy Precision Delta's JHP for between $85 and $90 / 1000 shipped if you buy at least 2,000. I like the 124 behind HS6 @ 174 PF. They shoot good and are accurate.
  19. Basically, yes. I don't think there are any books that have 9 major loads in them. And further each gun is different, and can be even within the same model.
  20. Today I clean my brass by tumbling and lube them with one shot. 40 yrs ago when I was in college and didn't have lot of money (or any sometimes). I reloaded "humptine jillian" (yes that's a lot!) 45 acp thru a RCBS single stage press using carbide sizing die without lube, without cleaning a case. Just wiped them down or maybe gave them a bath and let them air dry in the Texas sun. My bullets were not that pretty but they shot fine. Do I recommend this - probably not - but it can be done. Cleaned and lubed are lots easier on the equipment and on you.
  21. 4.0 gr titegroup with xtreme 124 gr. on flat points I go to 1.120 - 1.125 on round nose I go with about 1.145.
  22. Are you racking the slide and the hammer follows? if so sounds like spring problem or maybe the trigger over travel screw is moved. Hows the trigger feel? Or possible the disconnector.
  23. I'd check with Red's Trading post of Idaho. They advertise and sell on Gunbroker. They say to call for best price as their listings are at MAP. They have been willing to make deals in the past. Good luck.
  24. Cheely sells them direct with free shipping but I don't know about to Australia. Send him an email thru his site. He is fast to answer. Never met Matt but I purchased his 90 degree mount for my Trubor and then sent him my barrel to have it throated. Shipping and work from him was amazingly fast.
  25. You need to put "Other" on there. My pick would be a Dan Wesson Pointman PM9. I have one and hands down it better than the other's on your list, IMHO. It does have the bomar style sights, but it is stainless and has a super smooth action. Best trigger out of the box on any 1911 I have ever felt. Regards
