  1. I will have to try that! I have wave spring coming and have some jp springs laying around.... but need one Tungsten weight. Anyone have a spare you can sell me? =)
  2. False Alarm! LOL I was at the match and then had to work. Cleaned and inspected gun very late at night when I was half asleep. When putting back together, I put leaf spring UNDER the sear... LOL yeah. thats why it would hammer follow =). Everything is 100%. but STI got back to me and emailed me 1day shipping label and were ready to get it all fixed up. Those guys are TOP Notch! Me... not so much. Lesson learned, Dont work on guns when running on empty or half asleep!
  3. My STI DVC Limited just started Hammer Follow problem and sometimes will not cock. How fast usually STI warranty turnaround? I have a major matching coming up soon?
  4. Hi guys, I have been shooting my Benelli 24 3-gun Edition for second year now without single malfunction. Well I had my first malfunction. When I was shooting clay array and on last clay #9 my bolt locked back. ( I thought weird.... I should have 9 in there) so I went to throw my match saver in there and there I saw last shell sitting on lift gate with bolt locked.... What caused this problem? I have +9 Nordic Tube on it.
  5. Thats what I was afraid. Probably not worth messing with reduced power. Gun runs like raped ape with no malfunctions and it is not hard to control. I looked around and it sounds like 14lb is standard what comes with DVC Limited 40? Maybe try 13 or 12lb spring with same load and see if it helps? or "if it works dont mess with it" applies here? Also with this Dawson Tool-Less Guide Rod setup what type of springs it takes? Can anyone link me please.
  6. Hi guys. I have been shooting my STI DVC Limited 40 for second year now and never had any single problem with it. I shoot USPSA Limited Major and 3 Gun. Load is 5.1gr of VV N320 with 180gr Xtreme at 1.180 OAL. It makes 170pf all day long at 945 fps I am thinking about maybe developing reduced power load with same 180gr Xtreme bullet to use in 3 Gun since there is no requirement for power factor. Question is What Weight Recoil spring I need to go with? I would not think the stock one will work very well? (I dont even honestly know what comes stock in STI DVC Limited 40) Gun is using Dawson Precision Tool-Less Guide Rod setup. Your help is greatly appreciated. I dont want to just blindly purchase springs, but if I have to experiment at least maybe you guys can give me some numbers on your Reduced Power 40 180gr loads and what springs needed if they are needed at all.
  7. +1 for Wes Sage. He is local to me too. Great guy. Great brass and great prices.
  8. I am going to bring this one from the dead as I am getting tired of stupid CBC and S&B 40 brass and I dont feel like starting new thread on this. I am going through 6k 5gallon Homer bucket of 40 brass and they make press run very hard on sizing (I lube cases too) and it translates into OAL variation on bullet sitting station. I ignored it first, but I think I will start from scratch and SORT the damn CBC and S&B out.
  9. All 40 brass is pushed through Redding GRX Carbide die to iron out possible bulges first. Then on 650 Lee Carbide Sizing die Lee Seater Die Redding Taper crimp die to just iron out the bell
  10. This is funny to me when I see argument about price of pistol powder. Because powder is the least expensive component in pistol reloading. You can save MUCH more by changing the bullet type if you are so inclined to do so or even primers. 8lb of powder will roughly make 11200 rounds at $128 for TG cost is $0.011 that is one cent per round. At $227 for N320 cost is $0.020 ... so its ONE cent more expensive but you get WAY better powder. Now if we were talking rifle here.... thats whole different story
  11. They also increased their price by about same 15% just recently I think.
  12. Hi guys, I have searched around... maybe not enough, but anyways. I shoot my STI DVC Limited 40 in both USPSA and 3Gun. What is your Sight In distance for 2011 Limited with stock adjustable sights? What is your method of sighting in? Off the bags or free hand? It has been awhile since I checked my zero, but yesterday at the local fun match when I had to shoot upper panel only at 15 yards all my shots were going 3 inches low in the black and it took me some time to figure out because I could not see the hits. I later looked at the target and group was tight, but about 3 inch low. I think I have zeroed it at 25 yards but it was sometime ago and I am thinking that it either changed or I was pulling shots.
  13. I use two 2.8 Invictus Practical on my ELS belt. So far it has been enough, but I am thinking about picking up chest rig just in case. There was couple stages when I was down to the last shell =)
  14. Hi guys. Any recommendation for eye protection for XXL heads? I tried ESS Crossbow and Suppressor and ICE... Not Even Close. So far nothing really fits. I had some Oakley M Frames laying around . way too small. So I just used heat gun and heated them and spread them out. they Fit ok, but not perfect. Some cheap Remington frame less from amazon work too. Any other recommendation? Should I got to Eye doctor and have them fit me a frame? I have insurance and I wonder if they will cover non prescription lenses... just looking for some ideas. I am sure I am not the only one with XXL melon. thank you!
  15. I have about 3k of 124gr xtremes. So I will just have to work on in a little and see if I can improve things. I am thinking about trying to dial down powder from 4.0 to 3.6-3.7 and seat them deeper at 1.120-1.110 instead of 1.140 Maybe they need a little more speed to stabilize?
  16. I might have to stick with 147gr Xtremes as they do much better in my G34. I have about 3000pc of 124gr and will just have to try them in my other pistols and see if they will do better. Will have to check into Precision Delta
  17. at 4.0 it is barely ejecting and all falling right next to me. COL is 1.140
  18. Hi guys, Looking for some suggestions on my accuracy issues with 124gr xtreme plated bullets in my Glock 34 Gen 4 When I shoot 147gr Xtreme loaded with 3.4gr of TG I can usually put everything inside 5 inch bull at 25 yards. When I switch to 124gr Xtreme loaded with 4.0gr of TG my Group opens up to about 15 inch and goes low and right and all over the place. I am just trying to figure out if I am doing something wrong or my gun just doesnt like this combination. No crimp on loaded rounds. Its adjusted to just remove the bell. Any suggestions on what to try?
  19. I have discovered a problem with my variaton of OAL. I used mixed brass and love 147 Xtremes. When I load and check my OAL (I go for 1.140) I usually see.... 1.140, 1.138, 1.137, 1.142. etc and then I get 1.150 once in awhile. I started to check head stamps on the long ones.... and its CBC. CBC Brass wall is much thicker than other headstamps. So it bells less, It sizes tight and when bullet is seated there is much much more resistance and it is seated higher. In most cases I have impression on those bullets from seating stem of my Redding die and that also causes higher OAL. So I went through all my 10k of 9mm brass and sorted out CBC headstamp. Problem went away and I am back to .004-.005 deviation. CBC apparently doesn't work very well with longer 147gr bullets. So I will have to use that brass for lighter/shorter bullets or load longer for that brass.
  20. you need to have about .003 of neck tension in order not to crimp. for that you need to Polish/Sand your expander ball to about .222 When I tried Dillon 223 die there was about .001 of neck tension. Freaking expander ball was .2235 in size. WAY TOO BIG. I didnt want to mess with Dillon die so I sent it back. I dont like the way decapping unit is setup on dillon. I use Forster FL size die and Forster Ultra micrometer seater. This setup makes very straight/true ammo. I use LC brass only and my expander ball is set to .2215. No crimp needed.
  21. My go to load with TiteGroup and 230gr Xtreme RN Plates is 4.7gr at 1.245 oal. Shoots around 810fps out of my 5 inch Dan Wesson Valor. Loaded over 6000 rounds with this recipe. Not a single problem. I dont like bunny fart loads. I just scored bunch of Win 231 from Powder Valley and now working on new load. Looks like many modern books are waaaaay concervative with their numbers for Win 231. I am at 5.7gr now and it feels and flys just about right. Very clean burn and closer to factory loads. (lyman lists 5.2 start and 5.8 max for WIN231)
  22. load with 6.4 and 6.6 with 1.245 and chrono. You will like these.
  23. SkyLight LED setup from InLine Fabrication. VERY VERY NICE!
