  1. I know they approved some more people last Thursday, looks like they squaded. Would be nice to know where we are on the list
  2. I have 1911s that have never seen a factory round and dont have feeding problems (insert s#!tty 1911 jam joke here). Use the 38 super or 10mm mags (whatever gun you have) and load em long
  3. I've shot matches with both types of fault lines. I *think* it was the 2017 FL state had something along the lines of the wood is OUTSIDE the shooting area. it was said in the Shooters meeting and everyone was held to the same standard. With that with a big stick like a 2x4, it was as easy as a regular fault line, Go up and cram foot up against the stick, then you know your in position. I will agree this doesn't follow 96% of all other matches I've ever been to, but the rules allow it. Makes no difference to me. Without knowing the specific rule I did just read over 6.3 The inside(of cover) edge of the 2x4 delineates the shooting area. Dont go on top of it. Seems fair. Is there a rule and can someone cite it, where it says the fault line must be lined up with the center point of the INSIDE most target in a position?
  4. Second Picture for sure is my style. Spartan and Ar500 seem to run deals on Lvl 3+ plates on the regular. If just for training and the like I would be ok with that. If it was duty gear and I had a increased odd of it actually saving my life, I wouldn't put a price on it. I hear from people that wear armor for work ceramics are the way to go. Ferro Concepts Slickster if you wanted a carrier.
  5. This doesn't seem to follow the statement that 'All internationals are random Draw' A whole 2 squads named IDPA CHINA Per the IDPA member Website there are 24797 Listed Members 861 members listed with a Chinese Registration. or about 3.47% of the membership base USA members 17839 So if about 50% of the slots went to internationals. 200 slots, 12% of the WS slots went to IDPA China.
  6. There is the problem. for 105/3 yr its literally not even 1% of what I spend on ammo and gas and match fees. Since I shoot 1 or 2 IDPA majors a year its worth it. Which is even dumber. So technically, in the universe of probability. The random assignment of WS Slots could in theory alienate a entire country right? Which brings up a interesting fairness question. If HQ sees that say 5 people from South Africa applied, and none of them got in per the computer generated random selection, would HQ then go and say, we want representation from all countries, give one of those people a slot?
  7. So say you have a guy in Italy who shoots every level 2 and higher that the country offers. And you have another guy in Italy who doesn't really shoot anything but a club match once every now and then. These two people, per the email from HQ, have the exact same chance of getting into the World Shoot. Since it is a random draw.
  8. I know some people from around me were trying to last minute fly around the country to try and get into matches to get points. I can only hope they didn't waste a ton of money to not get in. Random Thoughts: Lets just assume anything over 15 points got in. That means you'd have to shoot 5- Level 4 matches in the last calendar year to be able to go to World Shoot. Also Interesting that HQ sent out a email that says nearly 50% of the slots were to international competitors, but the International competitors were assigned slots based on a random draw (hows that fair). So I woulda had a better chance registering my member number in Canada and then trying to get in. 700 entries and 400 spots. And based on the above, about 200 of those were international only. So only 200 US competitors got in. IPSC world shoot, on the other hand, had 1500 competitors The real question....Will I be able to walk on? And with a system like PS, We should be able to see who leads the Nationals points list overall in the sport.
  9. Unpopular personal opinion. If you got a trophy at the last WS you should get the opportunity to go back this year. then open registration. 5 divisions x 5 classes x 1st-3rd in each class thats only 75 spots out of the hopefully 400 spots. And probably guarantee some of those people wont go, soooo.
  10. Or the lack of clarity into the process. Like how I have to search the Facebook post comments for information. Which after reading it. Sounds like they are approving people in blocks by the week?
  11. Again, If only there was a website that could auto do that.
  12. I dont have kids, but I would encourage them to participate at least a few times to see if they like it or not. I wouldn't take them to a match until I've seen them in practice do everything without mom (hopefully my wife likes guns in this scenario) or dads help. And maybe go practice with someone else to have them RO my offspring since it wont always be me on the timer. If they do everything safely, start with steel challenge or a shorter USPSA match to get their feet wet so they aren't in the sun for 8hrs. I dont think I would have a specific age at which they could do this, when they and I am comfortable/responsible with handling the gun without me right there. No turning around and looking for help on a jam or ULSC etc...Also if that means they want to start in the low ready or something not holster work I'd ask the MD to let them do that and bag at the end. FWIW...I've seen adults older than me who I wouldn't practice with based on their handling skills at a match, so its really mentally dependent, not physical age.
  13. Unrelated but I'm 28 and this bothers me too haha.
  14. Trying to understand why World Shoot points where only used in the past calendar year when it has been 4 years since the last WS. Why not use all the points you have accumulated since the day after the last one? Seems that it would make more sense that way, and since it always comes down to money, that would force more people to be involved for a longer period of time. I also dont understand with PS why we had to enter our points and match names, you'd think there would be some big record of that (like the IDPA website). Not trying to knock it, just trying to understand why.
  15. I've seen a lot on Insta about LAPD Swat from STI. My question is this, Does the Department pay for the guns? I seem to have a hard time believing that your run of the mill officer will fork over their personal money for a 2011 when they can buy a glock for 400 bucks. From my experience most cops aren't shooters or gun guys. Now I could see if the Dept gives the option and you wanna spend your own money, ya maybe a 2011 is for you. But still I would rather lean towards to glock than a 2011. You can see in STIs new marketing that it would appears lots of Mil/Vets are employees and they are pushing for Mil/Leo stuff. Like discontinuing the 1911s, cops dont carry those so why sell them. I will say this about that, I clean my competition STIs religiously or they start to not work well. Ive also never rolled around in the dirt/mud/sand with them. I guess a 4k gun I dont want to get dirty, the glock I dont care about. Morale of the story, If I clean my duty STI every 2 weeks whether it got shot or not, I guess it'd be a functioning reliable gun. If STI put out a torture video and I guess I'll be convinced. Just my experience, not a LEO. Just an STI enthusiast. Also FWIW, when I buy a STI, barrel slide and frame stay, everything else gets replaced, right out of the factory. After my DVC Classic blew up on my twice as a out of the box factory gun.
  16. he seemed really bothered by that fact. Just listening to the review in the background I feel like at least twice a minute for the 15min video he had to mention its not for duty use.
  17. Second to all the Amazon Prime. I use it with their Firestick on my regular tv. Saving 60 bucks a month from cable and all the jazz that I never used anyway If your sitting watching TV you should probably dry fire, or clean brass or something. or thats what I tell myself(as I watch TV)
  18. Could also shoot L10 if you really really wanted with either gun. SS is the way to go with the kimber. 8 in mag + 1 in the tube. Cocked and locked on the start.
  19. If your friends with someone local, start asking around. See if someone has something that your looking at buying. See if they can let you borrow it for a match or a range session.
  20. Shooters Connection Targets+ pasters Simple and easy then never worry about it.
  21. Dump rounds into big 30cal or 50 cal ammo box. When match time comes, I'll case gage what I need and place into the 100rnd boxes. If its a local match, case gage (maybe, probably not) and dump them into whatever empty amazon box I have lying around.
  22. Just grab the gun? Slam hand into area anywhere under dove tail? Dry fire? The same as surrender? I'm no expert but thats kind of overthinking it. Timer>Gun>Position. Just grab it. Also another no expert comment, if you sucking your elbow into your side then drawing your wasting time. Hand goes from X to Gun, the straightest line is the best way.
  23. Id like to know where someone came up with that rule. or thought this was ok.
  24. You can tell his answers aren't that of a politician. But he could at least make those answers sound a little better. I'm not sure how he is expecting to get SC shooters to vote for him when he says hes never shot a Lvl 2 or 3 but wants to.
