  1. Hey all, Just wanted to share my story of last weekend's speed steel match. Ran a .22LR pistol that typically ran fine, but I didn't have my typical ammo with me. That along with it being dirtier than usual, caused for a FTF or FTE about once every string. For me, this was my 4th Speed Steel, where I've been used to doing pretty well in. Well, this day put me back in my place. =) At least I got the experience of clearing and safely reloading without getting DQ'd. Ugh, but it just doesn't have the same feeling when you do well at a match. =( Remember, be prepared, keep it clean. =)
  2. Come on. It really isn't that difficult. Yes, it's tedious, but it's a gun. It's a .22lr at that. And it typically shoots pretty well for a .22lr. I personally don't care for the weird gap they added to incorporate that one button disassembly.
  3. Yes yes yes yes. That barrel if you're lucky is around $220-$250 alone. Pretty good deal if you ask me!
  4. Ugh that is beautiful. Love the extra long slide.
  5. Hey all, I've always shot my 1911's and 2011's the best, but one thing that has me confused is all the trigger choices. We have flat triggers, short triggers, long triggers, etc. In shotguninng, we have the shotgun fit typically. Is there such thing for the 1911 trigger? Obviously I would think the longer triggers are for longer fingers, but also I guess it depends on what people want. Is it best to test different sizes so that your fingerpad falls in the correct location on the trigger? (Speaking of that, is there a "correct" location on the finger or is it just preference?) On my inherited bullseye 1911, the trigger is GI style, super super short. This isn't ideal for me I believe, but not sure why they came this way in the first place. I think it's still set up this way because the gun was used in CMP matches, which I seem to recall require it to be GI condition. Well, anyway, any thoughts on this topic of fitting triggers? Trying to decide which to buy to put in my 1911. Thanks!
  6. Gen 3 is usually cheaper. And you can get them used for a pretty good deal too.
  7. I wouldn't suggest that previous post ^^. Once a lower has been mated to a "pistol" upper, it becomes a pistol for life. (Or so my understanding of the ATF is) But yeah, I thought about this too. In the end, not shouldering ended up being a pain in the butt, not to mention the urge to try to shoulder it anyway, which is bad! =P
  8. It's quite a bit more weight than the Glock typically and shoots differently. I've had the Para before as well as the G35. The para is good, and would be my choice, but it may require some tuning to get it 100%. Obviously the Glock just runs, but the Para you will have to be conscious of your spring weight, etc. At least that was the case with the one I had.
  9. Titegroup is my go to for 9mm. You can use WST for .40, you can get some real crazy low recoil loads with that one. When first starting out, I thought about trying to consolidate powders, but honestly, it's not that big of deal to have 2. Just don't mix them up. =)
  10. It takes a lot to ignore the other shooters and speed up (i.e. mess up from going too fast). My vote is for staying in production. Rule production before moving on. It will make you much more competitive in the Limited class of shooters. Anyway, that's my two cents!
  11. If you don't have a safe, would it hurt to keep them in the Pelican case with the gel beads?? I assume only issue would be moisture.
  12. Hello from a fellow Illinoisian.... family comes from Elmwood! Welcome!
  13. For me, it really comes down to 2 variables. 1. What feels better? I personally love the 2011/1911 grip, and feels better in my hand. Slide racking is easier as well I'd say. 2. The TS probably will be more reliable. Easier to get tuned mags, not quite as much required to get it running good. Thanks!
  14. While I shot the XDm, it was a nice gun. But, yes, I agree, at least in my neck of the woods, they are few and far between. I just don't see them as being that focused on the gun games. I guess they do have Rob L. but Springfield seems much more interested in the carry market vs the comp market. Otherwise I think we would see more aftermarket accessories.
  15. I love the short dust cover of the limited pro. It may not balance like the SII, but it's pretty with hard chrome.

    Glock 34

.25c trigger job, polish, save your money for more ammo. The more I get into this sport, the more that trigger time is more important. Be careful of gun part envy. Definitely has gotten the best of me!!
  17. I have owned both a Ghost connector and $0.25 trigger job (look it up) as well as a Fulcrum by ZEV ($200). Although the ZEV was consistently nice and much easier to do, just drop in, it didn't provide what I saw was $200 worth of extras. I do agree with those that say it's best to work on your gun yourself to learn the function, which the .25c job would definitely do.
  18. I would also agree, do it yourself. It isn't difficult and you truly get a good look into how the CZ works, which is a bit different than what most are used to. (1911 or maybe Glock function)
  19. Exactly what I needed to know! Thanks!
  20. Hey all, Have a new SP-01, ordered parts from CGW. Got the SRS-2, but realized I didn't order the 1485 Short Reset Disconnector. Will I be ok without it? I just assume my reset will be at 6.5mm rather than 3.5mm? Thanks!
  21. Thanks all. Got a deal of a 34. Thanks all!
  22. Hey gang, If I wanted to get into the world of polymer again. Can you give some thoughts to this age old argument again? I can shoot Glock, but something just doesn't feel right in the hand with it. I do like the XDm feel, but worried why they are seemingly less popular. I have a shop close by that I can get a ZEV trigger if I choose the Glock or a PRP trigger if I choose an XDm. I would probably look for a .40, as I reload that often and I have a lot of supplies for it. Also, I reload lasercast lead, so maybe I would have the replace the barrel on the Glock to be safe with that? I shoot a 1911 the best, but want double stack and money is too tight right now for the world of 2011. I know this has been hashed out before, but haven't seen many recent threads. Any thoughts would be appreciated!
  23. Donated on the classified side. Bringing myself to spend more time on the rest of the forum too. Thanks for everything, just starting out in this sport, but already had a blast!
  24. Hey, Can an STI magwell be fitted on a double stack RIA?? I didn't think so but just wanted to be sure. Thanks!!
