  2. I switched from a Glock 34 to a CZ 75 SP01 Shadow for production and I picked up a CZ TS 9mm for 3 gun over the holidays. From the factory the trigger was under 2lb. I have been doing a lot of work on it that included shortening the frame and this week I am doing some grip reduction work but I could have easily just run it out of the box. http://www.brianenos.com/forums/uploads/monthly_01_2014/post-5345-0-56272900-1389581231.jpg
  3. +1I have never understood the desire to do shoot slugs at a good three gun match. Especially mixing slugs and shot on a single stage just to try to complicate an already complicated game. It adds nothing meaningful.
  4. Interesting thought. Had anyone tried just sharpening they waffles?
  5. I have the same thing in mind for when I get around to it: 11 degrees (pretty sure...) and flat on the front. Mine will also have a portless comp to extend the sight radius and create a "sight tracker" effect. I did some measuring and I got 19 degrees for the angle on the serrations; can anyone else confirm or deny this? I measure at 17 degrees (73). Cheap protractor though so use at your own risk. I had 15 (75) degrees as nominal. Being an engineer I wouldn't choose 17 or 19 when designing a new part since they are prime numbers. I got either brave or reckless and started cutting away. I am really happy with the results but obviously I still have the typical grip reduction work to go. I am planning on knocking down the front of the grip and trying out a 20 LPI checker on the rear. What do you guys think?
  6. My base pads and mag well arrived last night and I have this same issue. Removing the locking plate doesn't fix my problem. I will see where I am after blending the mag well and frame. I have been slightly less impressed with some of the CZC parts. I got the recommended follower and spring kit but the followers look like they are sticking out of the top of the magazines too far when empty and it caused some issues with the slide lock. Also, I purchased a CZC aluminum SA trigger (not the flat one) and it didn't have a hole drilled for the trigger return spring. I drilled a hole last night and it's working great but it's not the type of thing that I would have expected. CZs are great guns but seem to be best owned by amateur gun smiths who don't mind a bit of tinkering. I haven't owned a 1911 but maybe it's similar. I am just glad that I had a lot of years working in Glocks to build same confidence.
  7. I would love to see updated pics. Why not do the mag well and grips in black too?
  8. I would say it's all about the trigger; however, there are plenty of people who run Glocks or similar with great success. Not having to worry about engaging the safety is an advantage but not one that typically shoes up on the clock.

  10. I have the same thing in mind for when I get around to it: 11 degrees (pretty sure...) and flat on the front. Mine will also have a portless comp to extend the sight radius and create a "sight tracker" effect. Now that I have a TS to play with I think would like to try this along with the typical grip reductions. Keeping in mind the placement of the SN is there anything that should stop me from getting the hack saw and files out to shorten the front of the frame? I don't plan too get it refinished right away but I figure that I can shoot the gun with polished but not yet refinished surfaces.
  11. Well that looks strangely familiar. Here is mine that I just finished. NC 18" Wylde JP Gas Block (from BE classifieds) 12" Fiberglass forend (from BE classifieds) STI upper Miculek comp JP Low Mas carrier (from BE classifieds) JP captured buffer spring JP trigger/speed hammer/oversized antiwalk pins Vortex HD Gen II Scope on Vortex mount. (from BE classifieds) Magpul MAD grip MOE fixed stock with butt pad extension I had a BAD lever on it but took it off as I read that some had troubles with LOMAS and the extra weight of the BAD when it came to locking the bolt back when empty. I will be ordering some TACCOM +5s for my MagPul 40s and may consider a Seekins comp later. Just had it out yesterday at a short indoor range to tune the gas with good results.
  12. Just picked up a NIB TS in 9mm from another shooter here. Stock trigger is 1 lb 14 Oz. On that note can I cut down any of the full sized aluminum grips to work with the larger mag well? The medium length grips are out of stock at CZC.
  13. At least I can still cerakote my holster in hot pink polkadots. They can't take that away.
  14. If CZC an turn out custom grade models in the volumes required to be accepted as a Production gun then the more power to them. There is definitely still an arms race of sorts in Production even though you can be completely competitive with a stock gun. The overall affect is a gradual raising of the bar and improvement for the all basic guns that can be found on the shelf at Al's Gun Barn; everyone wins in the long run.
  15. I started with an 870 and an old A2 bushmaster. It was great fun and I was even competitive with some shooters who were tricked out. The biggest challenge for new shooters tends to be carrying shotgun ammo and shotgun reloading but there is nothing wrong with reloading shotgun with a pocket full of shells if that is all you have.
  16. I have been using CR Speed and DAA belts for USPSA. In general gear fits a bit more snug on DAA belts and the belt is a little more stiff but it's not remarkably better. Especially with my DAA belt I would not want to move any gear around because it is a pain to get most of it on or off the belt. If you are serious about 3 gun then you should do Safariland ELS or BladeTech TMMS on a CR or DAA to make it easy to move gear around for different matches or stages. I just bought a dedicated ELS for 3 gun but wouldn't mind using it for USPSA. You will definitely not be able to use the same belt for IDPA as for USPSA or 3 Gun. I just bought a 5.11 belt for IDPA needs.
  17. As promised here is a picture of the loading port on my Browning Gold. In addition to widening the port I have been working to eliminate the hump caused by the forend. Since there was a gap I fit and epoxied a small piece of plastic under the forend and smoothed it out. The second picture compares the profile with the stock forend.
  18. I picked up a Dawson FO rear when all Dawson sites were 25% off during the holidays https://www.dawsonprecision.com/ProductDetail.jsp?LISTID=80001D33-1384021495 What height of Dawson front site should be paired with the LPA adjustables? I think Dawson only has a .170 or .195
  19. Thanks for sharing; that is huge. Like I said before it seems like a very shallow loading port and the forend doesn't get in the way as well. I will look forward to hearing how the torture test goes but in the meantime I am going to start shopping for one of these.
  20. I don't think it's the SRS but has to do with parts in the upper. CGW has much more info. I think dry fire concerns are much greater with B style guns but someone who knows more will likely come on soon with more information.
  21. CGW Short Reset System ships with the little rubber o-rings. I think it has to do specifically with the modified short reset parts including the modified firing pin and plunger timing. Without this the firing pin on the CGW SRS modified B style guns runs into the plunger... I think
  22. Would a 9 shot tube be about even with a 26 inch barrel and a 10 shot be even with a 28 inch?
  23. Take off the grip panels and try it again. It can help you to seeing what the issue is (might even be contact with the grip panels.
  24. Are you aware of any required mods to get them running reliably? It's good to see confirmation of potential and I don't understand why more aren't looking at this. I loved the auto load on my Browning Gold (no matter where I am in the stage I just keep shoving them into the same hole) but the thing I am really interested in seeing is how well these can be quad loaded.
