  1. Will the rubber base pads work on the new CZC "shinny" 17 rounders? I own some of these and really like them but the base pads have popped off on occasion when the mags hit the ground. I never had this problem with the SP01 18 rounders.
  2. I picked up a Compact L with a manual safety the other day and wanted to add a short rest Disconnector if possible. Does anyone make one for the B models? Would the CGW one work with the CZC hammer and other stock parts? I am also changing out the trigger for the old 85, putting in a new mag break and mainspring plug, and some VZ grips. Interestingly enough the rubber grips that come on the gun are rubbing pretty bad against the magazines causing the mags to not drop free. The new grips should correct this but I was surprised to see that issue.

    CZ SP-01 Shadow Target

I like mine. It sounds like some prefer fixed because they are worried about sight drift but it have had no issues.
  4. Check out Dawson Precision. Great sights and they drop right in for me.

    reload splits

This video made me feel much better about not trying to chase the elusive 1 second reload.
  6. The instructions from eerw and Schmeky seem to have hit the nail on the head. I took a very small amount material off, really just breaking the edge. Even that small amount seem to have done the trick and my DA pulls are firing reliably again. Thanks for all the help.
  7. Any chance you could put a line through the picture I attached to show me where I should start to remove material? I can tell it wouldn't take much. You had originally done the trigger on this gun and I noticed that it looks like quite a bit of work went into shaping and polishing the original disconnector. Thank you for the help. Here is a zoomed in picture of the part.

  9. CCI SPP in stock at Nachez. Limit 2k http://www.natchezss.com/Category.cfm?contentID=productDetail&brand=CC&prodID=CC0014&prodTitle=CCI%20#500 Small Pistol Primers 1000/box
  10. I don't think so. The pin is centered in there pretty well.
  11. I am attaching a picture of the new drop in part as well as a video of it in action. http://youtu.be/WloOXg9gHZc You will notice from the video that I am still having some real problems with my double action pull. I can't blame this all on the new mod as I noticed this issue occasionally before adding this part but it seems to be much more of an issue now. Essentially I can pull the DA trigger back without firing the gun; however, single action goes bang 100% of the time. When I have the DA trigger pull depressed I have noticed that sometimes a bit of pressure to one side of the frame or the other might cause the hammer to fall. Does anyone have an idea about what I might try modifying to correct this situation? Thanks, Alma
  12. Right. These parts aren't the same but the overall shape is similar except the CZ part is slightly angled on the sides of the edge where the disconector hook used to be. Not sure when I will take my CZ apart next but when I do I will post pics of the actual part if it hasn't already been done.
  13. I got mine this afternoon and finished the install a few hours ago. I should have taken a picture of the part before hand but if you are curious it resembles the Canik disconnector, http://i834.photobucket.com/albums/zz262/sdw1961/Canik%20USA/canik318.jpg The product worked mostly as advertised and I measure my SA pretravel now at 0.15 inches. The only issue I noticed is that initially the DA trigger pull was not dropping the hammer. Instead it would essentially cock the hammer and I would have to pull the trigger a second time in SA to get the hammer to fall. This issue seems to hate largely corrected itself now with a bit of dry firing and now I am getting full functionality in DA and SA modes. I am very happy with the results and will let everyone know how it works out during live fire.
  14. It looked like the CZ Custom shop is now selling a drop in disconnector for the Short Reset Trigger System. They say on the website that the performance might not match the custom fit from CZC, but being able to improve the trigger without having to send my gun back to Arizona is also very welcome option. I just put one on order and can't wait to get it installed. Here is the link. I would be interested whether anyone has experience with this part yet. https://czcustom.com/czshortresetdisconnector.aspx
  15. Natchezss has Remington SPP for $45. Sounds expensive. http://www.natchezss.com/Category.cfm?contentID=productDetail&brand=RM&prodID=RM22600&prodTitle=Remington%201%201/2%20Small%20Pistol%20Primers%201000/box I am really only use to Federal, Winchester, and CCI. With brands like Fiocchi, Remington, Tula, Wolf, etc. are there some that are better than others? Just assuming that I should stay away from Wolf but have no idea on how the others compare.
  16. Use Sight Black. I get the idea that it was a real common product for bullseye shooters. I was introduced to it when I needed to black out my FO for a GSSF match.http://www.midwayusa.com/product/504999/birchwood-casey-sight-black-3-1-2-oz-aerosol

    New magazine option

These look interesting: http://czcustom.com/cz759mm17rdmagplated5pk.aspx Are these a new type of factory CZ 75 magazines? Does anyone know whether they would be an upgrade over the factory SP01 magazines that I have been using?
  18. Anytime you get one of those sensational conspiracy stories in your email box or Facebook feed please check snopes.com or truthorfiction.com before forwarding, reposting, or "liking" anything that smells like this. As much as some would like to imagine that this is the result of a vast government conspiracy the facts are that it I a result of the mad rush on guns and ammo out of fear that restrictive legislation will make it through congress. Ironically the spreading of myths and hysteria are making the problem much worse for everyone.
  19. I had the mag release issue as well but didn't notice it until a major match. Looking at the bluing on the magazines I could see the wear mark that depressing the release had left while the magazines were dropping. After marking the internal protrusion, mag release removal, and a bit of Dremel work the issue was easily resolved.

    CZ Accu-Shadow

For a long time Angus has been hinting at great things for the CZ line coming in 2013 and it sounded like significant changes to the factory SP01s were on the road map. A few weeks ago I believe the official CZ-USA Facebook profile posted a few sneak peek photos from the upcoming 2013 product catalog. The new CZ 75 SP01 caught my eye since it looked like it had the same new bushing system that CZC released here as a custom shop option. It also had slim profile aluminum grips and a FO front sight. Hopefully these will be the standard from the factory for the 2013 line but time will tell. I just checked, the Facebook page and the images have been removed so maybe I am imagining things... Okay, I found it from cz-usa.com along with a new product list for 2013. It is the same CZ Custom gun at the same price. Here is the link: http://download.cz-usa.com/2013_New_Product_Announcement/2013_CZ-USA_NEW_PRODUCT_ANNOUNCEMENT.doc
  21. Stuart, With this mod how different is the feel of a cocked DA/SA versus a SAO? This looks very compelling. Thanks, Alma
  22. For me I measure full DA at 6 lb 10 oz Half cock (safety notch) at 5 lb 11 oz

    SP-01 problem

My new Custom Shop does this as well. I notice it most often when dry firing with strong or weak hand only and on a very slow trigger pull. It hasn't been a problem at a match yet. I thought it was just my gun but it's interesting to see others seeing the exact same issue. So, should I expect this to get worse? Thanks, Alma
  24. Perhaps this is a bad example but if I have a long enough distance between positions I will modify my normal reload to keep the gun pointed a bit more down range than normal. This link should demonstrate at around 18 seconds. Please forgive the long delays between engaging each target array. Someone thought it would be a great idea to draw cards to decide which targets in a stage were shoot versus no-shoot targets. It wasn't a legal stage and it was designed to mess with the shooters head but you can't be too hard on the guys who put all of the work in to make regular local club matches happen. Aside from the delay in trying to remember if the red heads are shoot or no-shoot your feedback would be welcomed. Regards, Alma
  25. What affect does grip width have on natural point of aim and trigger control? I have fairly large hands and among other things when I recently picked up a new CZ with thin aluminum grips it felt like I had to make more of a conscious effort to steer the gun to the right with my support hand to get the sights to perfectly align. Why is it that most people who buy this gun for competition tend to purchase thin grips? I have some thicker grips on order now and in addition to getting more of my support hand on the gun I am looking forward to seeing if it helps me to naturally keep the pointed just a little bit more to the right and makes the trigger pull just a bit cleaner. Thanks, Alma
