  1. Take off the grips, insert a mag and see if you can tell where it is hanging up.
  2. Looks like it's legal to swap holsters in USPSA multigun rules (2.2.4). I would be looking to get essentially identical holsters but one with and one with retention. At my last match there was only one stage where I felt like I could have used it. When pistol isn't required on the stage I just take the holster/gun off altogether and leave it in the safe area.
  3. They look very nice. How is the tread?
  4. Chris, Welcome! So which match did you shoot and what division?
  5. I am game; where do I sign up? I posted this before just to see if it could be done. It's super slow and I lost one along the way but quad loading off of the table was also more much difficult than when I had a caddie.
  6. I think part of my challenge is that I have to shift my weak hand grip to get the gun on my shoulder for a strong hand load. If would be faster if I could twist my wrist far enough to keep my grip but it does doesn't seem to want to twist that way. It just feels like half of my time loading 8 is moving the gun into and out of position.
  7. I tender to walk away from multigun matches feeling the same. At least with standard USPSA matches there is only performance with one gun about which you can be frustrated. Reflecting back on it I had fun but driving away from the range I felt overwhelmed.
  8. I have a rule question for 3 Gun. Since the gear on your belt can be more modular would it be legal for me to swap holsters depending on the stage? I have my current holster on a TMMS so it would be easy to do if the rules allowed.
  9. Excellent choice! Letting him choose is best overall but I would steer him towards production. I think it is a much better way to learn the fundamentals: trigger control, accuracy, reloading, stage planning, etc. It's also cheaper to get into in most cases so it would be easy to buy a Production gun of his own to customize. I Open is fun but I prefer the challenge that Production presents.
  10. Miranda, Your previous post had some sound logic but reminded me of a story problem on from a math test. I love it!
  11. I watched a video the other day with Miculek shooting an Xrailed own gun where is locked like he's was grabbing a few from an arm band to strong hard reload mixing between positions. Made me think that is should keep my old 3GunGear.com stuff closer to the top of my junk bin just in case. On another note, how much faster is weakhand quad loading over strong hand quad loading?
  12. Off the shelf. That's funny. It did make me feel little sick to unbox a new $1,200 gun, order another $400 in parts, and immediately take a dremel to it. I love the results and it's pretty fun doing the work but far from something that average gun owners do.
  13. Good question. I have been thinking that it wouldn't be a bad idea to have an hex wrench on hand if it's a little cold and I am a little unsure of whether I will need more gas to cycle the AR.
  14. This would be the easier way: http://store.magpul.com/product/MAG418/184
  15. Looks like the Samson Evolution handguards use the mil-spec barrel nut so that might make it easier. It isn't hard to change the barrel nut either if you see another one that you like.
  16. Check the Magpul options if you want one that uses the mil-spec attachments. Edit: Didn't see that you wanted aluminum. Lots of options. What do you like? Do you want two keep your mil-spec barrel nut as a requirement?
  17. I'm not saying it is.. but this may be a virus... I'd scan and check as soon as possible Yeah, Microsoft Security Essentials is free. What you have is a malicious code infection called "Fake Antivirus" for FakeAV for short. It's not a good sign and don't pay the money. At this point the chances are that your actual antivirus has been disabled by the malicious code. You can try the Trend Micro Fake AV removal tool but others are out there as well http://esupport.trendmicro.com/solution/en-us/1056510.aspx Once a system is infected with one kind of malicious code it is very difficult to determine how many other pieces of bad code may have been installed. Safest bet is to back up your documents, wipe the hard drive clean, and reinstall your operating system.
  18. Virginia is an open carry state. Pretty sure you can just want off the plane with them slung.
  19. Two good red options for belts DAA http://www.dawsonprecision.com/ProductDetail.jsp?LISTID=8000172A-1388518374 Safariland http://www.copquest.com/23-8025_safariland-014-open-class-competition-holster.htm These are both available at several retailers. I think DAA is a bit more popular and looks great in red. New red belt from CR speed as well http://www.shootersconnectionstore.com/mobile/CR-Speed-Super-Hi-Torque-DELUXE-RED-Range-Belt-P208.aspx
  20. You definitely don't want the paddle attachment. The blade tech stuff is modular so you could remove the paddle and buy Tekloks and TMMS if you want. straight belt attachment would even be better. This would be if you are using a CR speed, DAA, or blade tech inner/outer belt combo. The other option is the Safariland ELS system. It's pretty popular with 3 gun folks and allows you to easily remove gear. One possible advantage of the ELS is that you have the option of bolting gear right to the belt if you don't want to remove it easily.
  21. If you want to be able to remove your gear or change configurations easily then for Blade Tech you can put a TMMS attachment on your tekloks.
  22. Definitely that's the best plan and if you find ourself there then don't stop. From Reagan International Airport it's pretty easy to take a wrong turn and end up on the one way into downtown DC. In the Mid-West it seems like you are much more likely to get pulled over for traffic violations, taillights, or other small things. I have been in Northern Virginia for seven years and haven't been pulled over once. No matter how bad I am driving there will always be someone here that is driving worse and cops tend to focus on the ones who really deserve it.
  23. There is something called the Firearm Owners Protection Act that should help if you inadvertently take a wrong turn and end up in DC. As long as you are traveling from one place where it's legal to own the Firearm and going to another place where it's legal then you should be okay as long as it's locked and inaccessible.
