  1. I use ArmorAll Wash and Wax.....about 1-2 tablespoonsful, 1/4 teaspoonful of Lemishine and 15lb of stainless pins. Comes out nice and clean and with the wash n wax, you don't really need to lube your brass when sizing. Not as smooth as it is after using OneShot, but not nearly as rough with no lube at all. I started using Dawn, but am much happier after switching to the ArmorAll.
  2. Is it binding on the ejector spring? Make sure the spring is all the way seated. Mine was doing that and I couldn't figure it out for the life of me. Stared at it for a while and finally saw it.
  3. Maybe a 650 only Strong Mount? My 650 mount has only 4 holes vs my 550/650 mount that has I think 7. Still doesn't explain why it wouldn't fit, for press mounting purposes, the 550, since they share the other mount. You wouldn't be able to operate the 550 on the 650 mount as it's slightly shorter. Measure it's height. The 550/650 mount is 8 1/2", whereas the 650 only mount is 6".
  4. I did the same to my left middle finger. Was depriming a piece of .308 brass and couldn't get my finger out fast enough. I think there is still a drop of blood or two underneath that press. Kind of a reminder for myself every time I use that press to keep my fingers away from the top of the brass. That one hurt.......
  5. I wet tumble to keep the dust down so as to not exacerbate my 2 kids asthma issues. Is it a little more involved? Sure, but the benefit outweighs the hassle IMHO.
  6. BeerBaron is correct. I load Bayou coated 147grain 9mm and was having a heck of a time with the coating being shaved using the Dillon funnel. I played with it, adjusting all over the place to try and find the sweet spot. I never could and would end up shaving the coating on at least 30 out of 100 loaded rounds. Installed the MBF funnel, adjusted it twice and it's just about perfect. My last 2 loading sessions of 800 rounds each (on a 550) I was getting about 3 out of 100 loaded rounds shaved. Even those 3 rounds, it was VERY minor shaving. I've never loaded anything but coated bullets, so I don't have a frame of reference to jacketed with the standard funnel.
  7. I started using Armor All Wash and Wax, instead of Dawn liquid soap, when I clean my brass. It does make a difference. The wax leaves enough residue on the case to lubricate it. Give it a try.
  8. Is the rod completely straight or is it bowed a bit? Mine was bowed when I first got it. I gently bent it the other way, straightened it out and put an empty .45 case on it and it works just fine now.
  9. Had the same problem loading 147gr Bayou 9mm with SS tumbled brass. Tinkered with increasing the bell, it still shaved. Bought an MBF funnel, it still shaved, but not as much. My last session, I flipped my seating die stem from the flat point to the round point. Shaving stopped. I also still tumbled with stainless pins, but used Armour All Wash/Wax and Lemishine and no Dawn. Not sure if that helped with the shaving, but it did help the brass sticking to the powder funnel. I bought a Redding Competition Seating Die to try to remedy the situation before I flipped over the seating stem. Guess I won't need that now....
  10. I'm not 100% sure, but that tip looks a little chewed up. I don't recall mine looking like that....yet. It's my understanding that it will after enough rounds loaded. Try changing tips and see if that helps.
  11. Are you tightening the set screw below the plate. That should keep the bolt in place and stop it from turning. The other thing to look at is your sprocket hitting the cartridge ejection wire? Mine was, but only on 1 spot...basically it would turn fine, but when one part of the sprocket went over that wire, it would rub and make everything feel tight....just bent the wire a bit and worked fine from there.
  12. Without a doubt. I was gauging individually with a Dillon gauge, throwing those that passed in a bin, then boxing them up. Now, I can place 100 in the gauge and box directly from there. Much more efficient. Saves a bunch of time.....as least for me.
  13. I bought a Nesco FD-37A dehydrator from Amazon. http://www.amazon.com/Nesco-FD-37A-American-Dehydrator-400-watt/dp/B00CS5ZI6G/ref=sr_1_5?s=sporting-goods&ie=UTF8&qid=1457056567&sr=1-5&keywords=nesco+food+dehydrator. It was a dollar or 2 cheaper when I bought it. Just used it for the first time this past weekend. Worked great.
  14. same here......using Bayou 147s.
  15. I really like what I've gotten from Bayou. Good price and quick shipping.
  16. HA....I did the same thing. Was given the same info, but asked about a group buy. Was quoted 150 euros each for 10 units. Some food for thought.
  17. No problem. Mine really seem to make a difference seating my Bayou 9mm. Couldn't stop from shaving, no matter what I tried. These all but eliminated that.
  18. No coating on mine, look the same (material wise) as my Dillon funnels that I replaced.
  19. I use the FA separator, fill bucket with water and gently spin. Only get a few pins thrown and can easily pick them up with an expandable magnet. Lay them on a towel with a fan blowing on for a day or two. I DID buy a dehydrator to try to speed up the drying process, but haven't used it yet.
  20. I like 3.4 WST over a 147 grain Bayou. Have never tried Titegroup or N320 so I really don't have anything else to compare to, but I like it. Accurate and pretty soft.
  21. I've never tried loading while standing on a stool! LOL but my brother is a pharmacist so I understand. My 'loading 'bench' is a table that was scraped when we remodeled the control room at the nuclear power plant where I worked. It was big, HEAVY(seismically qualified as all loading benches should be), and inexpensive. At table height I use no strong mount and sit on an old control room chair. And no it doesn't glow in the dark. You should try it, really adds to the level of concentration needed. One of these days, I'll remember to proofread my posts.... LOL
  22. I use 4.3 grains of WST at 1.250" over a 230gr Bayou. Very good accuracy for me and a nice, comfortable recoil impulse. I tried 4.2 grains, but for some reason, didn't give me the same accuracy (this is out of both my G21 and G30).
  23. I've had my 550 mounted to my bench for a little over a year now. I mixed up both standing and sitting on a Craftsman stool. I installed a Strong Mount a little over a month ago. I haven't been able to load in this configuration yet, as I'm redoing some other thing....adding peg board and shelving behind and above the bench. I have been able to sit in my chair and still see everything ok with the Strong Mount. I didn't expect to be able to do that, but it was a nice surprise. I'm on my feet all day as well, can't be a pharmacist and not be on your feet......so it will be nice to be able to sit while doing my "chores".
  24. Ran into the same thing on my 550 with Bayou 147s. I've found the bullet needs to be perfectly straight going into the seating die, or that will happen. I messed with the flare, but couldn't find the sweet spot and got tired of messing with it and bought the MBF powder funnel. That seemed to take care of it.
