  1. I have had good luck with WAC, but I understand people find other powder more appealing. I have used WAC, HS6, and AA7 and have loads that I like with all of them. I also agree that WAC is on the fast end for 9 major powders.
  2. I own 2 Limcats and both are great guns. 1 is a Spearcat that I bought here on the classifieds, I shot it for a year then had a Beastcat built. These guns are both tack drivers and are super reliable. The wait time for Limcat is not that bad for a custom build, but the one in the classifieds is a heck of a deal.
  3. Something to consider, I have shot several different coated bullets as well as FMJ and plated. I do notice that FMJ are the most consistent and forgiving when loading, Plated are not bad but need to pay attention to the crimp as to not over do it. Coated bullets are the hardest to set up to load properly in my opinion. I have shot thousands of them from Bayou, Acme, Precision, and Blue Bullets and they have all worked well enough for shooting USPSA. I think some of the issues with leading using a coated bullet are not the bullet. I am sure we are all most likely using mixed brass, this creates a variance in the amount of neck tension as well as crimp. For example if I set my expansion die and crimp die using Federal brass then have some S&B or CBC mixed in those rounds tend to be an issue. I have noticed some brass is thicker and when it is crimped it will break the coating. As far as which brand of coated bullet, I use Blues for Limited guns and have been working on loads for the PCC and have not noticed an issue with leading.
  4. I am interested in the taccom tension barrel, but I am concerned about the aluminum comp being difficult to clean without damaging it.
  5. I agree, it looks like one of the forged lowers.
  6. Thanks, good information. My barrel is supposed to be here Wednesday, so hopefully I can get to testing soon.
  7. Thanks, I plan on using 124s, just not sure how the speed of the barrel compares to the one I have. I liked the JP because of the longer freebore.
  8. Curious as well, I have a JP barrel ordered and don't really know what to expect.
  9. I know this is a little bit old, but has anyone had success finding a magwell for the Gen 3 PSA lowers PX-9? I ordered a magwell from shooters connection and did not see that it was for the previous model lower.
  10. I would suggest the Cmore slide ride, all if the micro dots seem to have issues for some. I had an RTS2 v4 and it quit on me. I currently have 2 DPP and they have worked great for the last year and a half, but it sounds like the newer ones may have issues. The old style cmore is reliable but it eats batteries pretty fast.
  11. Thanks for the information, I may order the EZ with the roller trigger just because I am used to a flat trigger on my pistols. I did order a 24c to try and if it doesn't work in my PCC I have a rifle that needs an upgrade. I just want something I am confident will work even if its not the lightest pull.
  12. Are you running the whole JP package or JP trigger and mil spec hammer?
  13. Wow, I did not know that it was that much of an issue. What kind of loads are you running, I have a friend who does not seem to have issues with the 24C. I would assume different ammo would matter.
  14. Thanks, looking at the JP website I thought that may have been the case but wasn't sure.
  15. What is the difference between the regular and EZ JP triggers?
  16. So I have read through a bunch of information on here in the last couple of days, and thanks to all who have shared their experiences on this topic. It looks like the are tons of options for AR triggers but many are not suitable for use in PCCs or some at least depending on your particular setup. I am putting together a pretty basic PCC to give it a try before sinking a boat load of cash into it and trying to figure out which trigger to use. It seems that the Hiperfire 24c or competition is very popular and seems to work for most, I am also interested in the JP Enterprises EZ Trigger System with Armageddon Gear Revolution Roller Trigger. The price point is about the same between the 2 and I am just wondering what the downside to either of these would be. I would like to hear from some folks with a good number of rounds down range using these triggers to get an idea of longevity.
  17. Thanks, any issues with offset on closer targets?
  18. What is the advantage with the offset mount?
  19. Its a personal choice, I dont think there is a right or wrong. If you are building a gun then you may have issues as some guys dont like to build 9 major guns. I shoot 3 to 4 matches a month plus 8 to 10 majors year and all 3 open guns I have owned have been 9. In 2 years I have had a handful of malfunctions and they were due to weak mag springs. Both are fine 38 will be a little flatter but I have shot targets at 15-20 yards with my 9s and 2 shots as fast as I can pull the trigger are both still in the A so I think they are flat enough.
  20. The tape can be peeled off but it will come off in parts. It took me about 30 min. to get all the glue off. I still use tape on my IDPA gun it has a smooth aluminum grip.
  21. The only downside to carbide is that it will fill up with debris, and once it get to the point that you cant clean it up enough to restore its bite it is a pain to rework. I have a few for my 2011s and when freshly done they feel great but over time not as much. The glue that Dawson sells will help hold the tape in place better than the adhesive backing alone.
  22. I really see no downside to a 155. I have one and use it frequently, I like the flexibility it gives you. I have shot stages where the best reload spot was after just a few targets and a 140 may not be enough to finish but a 155 does it. I also like it when a stage has lots of steel at the end. You don't have to have a 155, but it is just another tool to have available.
  23. Committing to a plan, as stated above being able to visualize the stage is important but unless you are committed it won't work. We all make plans during the walk through and then see someone do it different and want to change. I have found for me even if I see someone run a stage with what I think may be a better plan I try to stick to my original plan, when I have changed the results have been mixed. Keep it simple to start with, sometimes we make a plan that is complicated or requires more difficult shots to gain an advantage. Make a plan you can execute with confidently. Watch what other do and learn, you will see some plans that are good and some not so good but you can learn from both.
  24. 38 Super may be dead, but not SC. As far as the choice between the 9mm and SC it really depends on what you want out of your gun. I think SC is the flatter shooting of the two, but it costs more unless you can recover your brass multiple times. I have had 3 9 major guns, they have all run extremely well. I have had 1 Atlas and 2 Limcats, all 3 were accurate and functioned properly. I have had maybe half dozen fail to feed issues in 2 years of shooting open, and it was magazine related. I realized that with 170s a strong spring is a must. On the topic of how flat each one shoots I will say my 9mm dot moves but it is not hard to track and is back to center before I can pull the trigger.
