  1. No.....since he limits the class to about 8 he can meet you wherever you are in your development, and take you way farther down the road. Right now I have shooters from C to A class signed up. So, jump on in. Tim
  2. I have a class tentatively scheduled with Manny August 21st and 22nd at NTPS (in TN). I'm trying to see how much interest there is and if I can get enough folks to make it happen. Here is Manny's website and the host range website. http://www.mannyusa.com/ http://ntps.org/ If you have interest in becoming a much better shooter you will not want to miss this. Price is $450 for the two days of incredible instruction. Email me asap if you want to do the class. Tim Calhoun tim.calhoun07@comcast.net
  3. It's gonna be a great class. We still have some spots open so give me a shout if you want to attend. Tim
  4. I assume you are talking about stage 7? If so, when the port is closed you can still engage all the targets but you will need to go to both sides of the wall to do so. So make sure your shot is not low.
  5. No biggie, you have plenty of time to get some local USPSA matches under your belt before the end of September. Jump in the water is awesome!!!!!
  6. Here are some stages that have been chosen (pending approval). Great warm up for the nationals for sure. 2010 Stage 3 TN State.pdf 2010 Stage 4 TN State.pdf 2010 Stage 5 TN State.pdf 2010 Stage 6 Tn State .pdf 2010 Stage 7 TN State.pdf 2010 Stage 8 TN State.pdf 2010 Stage 9 TN State.pdf
  7. Wow......I was really looking forward to that one. Hopefully next year Gary. Do you think that range will be running USPSA matches in 2011 still?
  8. Ten stages again this year. Mostly all medium to long courses of fire. It's looking like 250+ rounds, but I'm still trying to make a decision about some stages. Problem is I want to use them all.
  9. Making the final choices from the stages I have this week. Some really awesome stages. Thanks to all who submitted them.
  10. Seems absurd, doesn't it? I couldn't believe the hands that touched that gun that couldn't prevent hammer follow... each smith that touched it failed until someone had the sense to swap the grip. Thousands of rounds later it was the right fix. That is just weird. I can't figure out how the grip could do this since the sear and hammer are pinned in the frame unless the grip is shifting during recoil or something. What was actually happening???? Was anything else replaced when the grip was replaced?
  11. Thanks I'll try that Make sure you adjust it per Bob's directions. You will not feel any bumps if it is adjusted too far the other way. But I have seen crazy things when the OT screw is too far out.
  12. Sorry for the late response...I was at area 1. I shot this gun by the way. I had one double and a couple hammer follows. The gun has all STI trigger parts. The trigger pull is at 2.10 oz right now. Its a heavy trigger but we had to try something. After the match I put more tension on the disconnecter. I might also try to make the reset longer if that doesn't work. What about that? Go to Bob's website and go to magazine articles and read his trigger tuning article. http://www.brazoscustom.com/Home.htm It is possible that your overtravel screw has worked its way out and you have too much overtravel. I have seen this cause hammer follow. Follow Bob's instructions just to eliminate the trigger overtravel screw as the culpret. Plus if most our your weight is on the reset it could just need a better balance between the two leafs. I like about 12-14 oz on the reset but some like more. Bob talks about that in detail. Also, check for a mark on your sear spring for the hammer strut macking contact. I had one do this and it caused hammer follow. If they are all STI parts then I doubt that you have the disco problem unless your smith tweaked on it.?.?

    What is it?

After reading most of this thread, I think I will just continue to shoot A's as fast as I can trying to learn along the way. If that is zen then so be it.
  14. Not really enugh info on the gun, but some possibilities I can think of in the order of obvious to less are: Not enough pressure on the sear from the sear spring. Hammer/sear not mated properly Not enough reset pressure from sear spring Trigger over travel screw needs adjusting Pin holes in frame not square Bad pins Hammer strut making contact with the sear spring (usually will leave a mark on the sear spring) Disco not fit right (sometimes people take too much off the top and it will not quite clear the sear when the slide cycles)
  15. I had the same thing happen to me in SS when I switched to the dawson big mag well. It happened twice the first match I shot with the new mag well. When I did a reload I had the mag slightly too far forward and the nose of the round would hit the front of the frame and the force was enough to strip it and flip it. The mag did not seat and after I fired the one in the tube the backward round would try to feed. By far the weirdest thing I have experienced. I replaced the magwell insert with their no-gap insert and it never happened again. Tim
  16. Well, I like to shoot more than I like to reload so mostly Limited. But I am having a good time shooting SS this year.
  17. Tell me about it......I did it in 45 seconds in SS and only had to reengage 4 or 5 pieces of steel and it still took that long. A ton of folks just ran out of ammo all together, and some the timer actually turned over.
  18. Stage 2 was the hardest stage I have ever shot bar none (it was one of the two none classifier stages). This includes the Fl Open, Nats, and every area and sectional match I have been to. Wow is all I can say.
  19. I certainly hope that this is the case - I just bought a P238 on Saturday. For what it is worth I've had no problems with mine in 300+ rounds.
  20. Actually this has been talked about recently but wasn't discussed much at all which I was really suprised at. Its pretty much accepted that there is only one way to use your sights and certain types of sight focus depending on target distance. Check out this thread and Post #20 Clicky Flyin Wow, that is really interesting. For a time I noticed that on close targets I was target only focusing and watching holes appear in the targets. It really freaked me out at first and I don't seem to do it much anymore, but after reading that I don't Know if that is good or bad. I wonder if that is what Matt was talking about?
  21. I thought trolling at first too, but then I remembered the story (I think in Front Sight) of the guy who took his sights off to finish a match. If nothing else, USPSA shooters will always press the envelope.
