  1. Here's my taurus 9mm. I put $13 grips from ebay, a Wilson low safety, and an s&a magwell. I deleted the series 80 parts, clipped a coil from mag release spring and mainspring, installed a 10lb recoil spring, cut the factory front sight into a fiber optic sight, and polished the trigger and moving parts. I left alone the sear and disconnect- I don't have tools for that. I have about 1200 rounds through her and the only malfunction was an FTE before I got the proper recoil spring. I estimate she has a 3lb trigger. Very good slide to frame fit. Runs with factory mags, but I bought metalform mags to get 10 rounds. I estimate I have $700 in this, not including magazines. I bought this just to learn about 1911s. I'm a glock shooter in Limited and this gun taught me I don't like the ergonomics of the 1911 platform. Blasphemy, I know! I posted this because people snicker at the idea of a Taurus pistol being a workable option. I'm having no problems with this.
  2. Wolff. I'm pretty sure you have to use wolff. Which is fine, they work and they come in every weight you could want. Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
  3. As far as I know, only the jager rod fits the Gen 4. I was running a zev with adapter and had constant problems. The jager captured gen4 rod helped a ton. Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
  4. OP wanted to keep using his current Kydex holster. SJC weight would require a new holster or run an open gaming holster. You can get a regular kydex holster that works with the weight pretty cheap, that plus the weight I cant imagine would cost much if any more than a threaded barrel and a special heavy thread protector. The cost of the sjc weight and new kydex holster would be more than the cost of the barrel and standard thread protector. The main reason I don't like the idea of the sjc weight is that it adds so much weight that it would, I imagine, drastically change the characteristics of the glock. I already manage the recoil just fine and I love how quickly the gun transitions. But an extra couple ounces up front wouldn't hurt. Another reason is that the sjc weight makes an ugly gun even uglier. But that's just me.Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
  5. Janskis: Seeing all those rounds dump out the bottom just kills me! My first 1.5 years of USPSA I had the mags in my pouches with the bullets facing the wrong way (towards my back) and I would index with my thumb going up along the back of the mag. It's something I figured out all wrong on my own. I can't tell you how many mags I dropped from not seating them all the way because my palm wasn't under the mag for the final push. I changed to normal way after someone pointed out to me what I was doing and seating mags has stopped being an issue.
  6. Check out ecouspsa.com for match info if you are in the front range area and new to uspsa. Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
  7. Okay, I went to the lone wolf website to get some data so i could figure out what the weight gain would be. They have the factory length g35 replacement barrel listed at .34lbs. the threaded g35 replacement barrel is listed at .45lbs. the thread protector is listed as .069lbs. So the weight gain over stock ought to be .179lbs. That is 2.864 oz. That is a significant improvement that wouldnt drastically alter the characteristics of the gun. If the lone wolf website data is correct, I think this is a great thing to try.
  8. I'm gonna say no, it wouldn't be legal. I'm thinking of this on a limited gun. Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
  9. Wgl3, that's a nice sight block. I like how the machining matches your slide. What I'm talking about is just a knurled thread protector on a threaded barrel. I don't think I want to try to turn my g35 into something that behaves like an Edge by bolting a brick to the front. I want to add a little more weight up front, but still have it be a glock. And I definitely want to keep the old blade tech holster. Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
  10. I've never seen this done, but why not add just a little extra weight up front by going with a threaded barrel and steel thread protector. It seems like that might add at least an ounce of weight in a good spot, but not be drastic and you could keep your kydex holster. I can't think of a good reason not to do this, especially if you're already going to buy an aftermarket barrel for your limited blaster. Thoughts? If we are already trying to gain weight in small steps, like with extended guide rods, why not this as well? Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
  11. How much? Would they mount to a doh hanger? I'm just curious because I've thought about trying the weight but I don't like open race holsters.Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
  12. I'd like a g34 in fde. Color coding would keep me from mixing up mags with my g35. Plus, they look cool. Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
  13. I've run a 13lb wolff spring on a captured jager rod in my g35 gen4. 170PF. I love the way it shoots now, as opposed to the 15 lb I used to run. It shoots really flat and I can see my sights better/faster. I just wonder if I'm beating up my gun.
  14. I want hear range reports. From what I can tell, there is nothing to improve upon with this pistol. Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
  15. Gen4 glock with large backstrap is great for me, I have XL hands. It's also a very competitive gun. The agressive grip angle will grow on you. Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
  16. What a gorgeous postol! Since 1911s/2011s don't fit me, this is out-of-the-box perfection to me. I can't think of a thing I'd change. And the price is still lower than a bone stock Edge! I look forward to hearing how she runs!l. Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
  17. Looks great! But at that price I could buy two regular ts. Seems to me I could customize a ts to that level of performance and still be under 2k. I wonder what non-gunbroker prices will be. Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
  18. I had serious problems running a extended zev guide rod and an adapter in my gen4 g35, which is basically the same as what you are running. With a 14lb ismi spring, it would barely go into battery if I eased the slide forward with gun pointing up. I think the gen3 GR get a lot of drag on the adapter because they don't head straight into the adapter. I think you need the jager guide rod because the head on the GR is the same diameter as the gen4 GR, allowing it to function in the same path as the OEM recoil spring assembly. I switched and it started running finally, and easily goes into battery with a 13lb RS.
  19. My kids have been shooting since 5 or 6. They are still not mature enough yet for uspsa at 9 &10, but they shoot quite well under close supervision. They know safe gun handling, but it takes maturity to retain that under the pressure of a timer and spectators. BTW, to make it fun, you really need balloons, reactive targets or steel targets. 20. I thought I'd share this in case it might help somebody... In the past few months I have been outrunning my sights pretty frequently. At some point I discovered that moving really fast between shooting positions helped my hit factor a lot. The problem for me has been that when I found my next position and started shooting, I was still in a hurry, and I wasn't taking the time to get good hits. I think I thought I had found a good pace for my shooting and I just needed to bring my accuracy up to match the pace. A few weeks ago I tore my meniscus skiing, and my knee is currently wrecked. Surgery this week, with a long recovery ahead of me. Anyways, last week I just HAD to shoot, so I shot a local match with my leg in an immobilizer. I knew that I'd be moving slow between positions, so I couldn't be dropping a lot of Charlies or Deltas. I set out to get good hits in order to be as competitive as possible, given my condition. Results: I saw my sights on every shot because I HAD TO. I found that I can see my sights faster than I thought I could, and my splits weren't all that much slower than in my usual shooting. I ended up placing 4th in Limited, which is a good placement for me. Instead of the hero-or-zero results I normally get from trying to burn it down (which often result in a NS or some kind of fumble), I shot a steady pace and it paid off. I've seen the quote somewhere on here, something like "If I shoot as fast as I can see the sights, that will be fast enough". When my knee is healed, if I can apply this lesson to future matches and add visual patience to bust-your-ass movement between positions, I think I will have found a big breakthrough.
  21. I use black bullets international 180 gr over 4.3 gr titegroup. I could pay more for something else, but I wouldn't get better results. Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
  22. I've had some time to play with everything and both presses seem to be in working order. The seller included a bunch of spare parts. I think I'll keep both and leave the pro 1000 set up for 9mm and the loadmaster set for 40. I just need to mount all my presses to identical plates so I can use one at a time. Real estate is precious on my bench. Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
  23. Thanks for the advice everyone! I already have a auto drum I've got set for .40, and an auto disk set up for 9mm. I'll use the two auto disks I just acquired to set up for .380 and .223, which I'll probably just keep loading on my lee turret press I've been using. I'm excited to spend just an hour loading 500 rounds, instead of having to spread it out over a few evenings. I'm cheap and I love to tinker and customize, so Lee is the perfect brand for me.
  24. Hi all, I just picked up a lee pro 1000 and a Lee loadmaster, both complete, for $200. I plan on selling the pro 1000 and keeping the loadmaster. I'll finally be in a progressive for just about $100. I'm kinda stoked about the deal I got. I'll be loading .40 and 9mm, at a ratio of about 4:1. Questions: Since the calibers share the same shellplate and primer size, should I just forgo the auto case feeder and feed cases by hand so I don't have to swap anything on the press to change calibers (besides the 5-hole part with the dies)? Or am I not understanding something here? What parts would be critical to keep extras of on hand? Any youtube links you would share related to keeping the priming system running smoothly?
  25. Black Bullets International supports uspsa, and ships that day or at the latest, the next day. Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
