  1. Having done both I felt working on the Tanfoglio's were actually a little bit easier.
  2. Well it's all kind of crap anyways. The Sig X5 has a heavy bull barrel but it's been deemed legal. And it's longer than 4.25 inches. I'm not a big IDPA fan. But it beats not shooting.
  3. The Tanfoglio Limited Custom is a no go for IDPA due to its cone barrel. In Tanfoglio land is you want all metal for USPSA & IDPA you have the new stock 1, the old non-rail Match and if you can find one the Limited Pro.
  4. How is a bull barrel not a heavy?
  5. What coating are the "blue" guns using? I do not know what tancoat is. Cerakote maybe? I agree wish they would have stuck with hard chrome.
  6. What rules are you referring to? I just got excited and looked on the IDPA website but the 2017 rule book still has the rule for : 8.1.8 Non-IDPA-Legal Features and Modifications for All Divisions The following features and modifications are not allowed in any division unless otherwise specifically allowed in the rulebook. C. Heavy and/or cone style barrels without a barrel bushing except as allowed in ESP, CCP, BUG and CDP divisions with length restrictions. But then again how the hell is the SIG 320 X5 legal and the X-Calibur not? From Sigs own website: The 5" bull barrel and lightened slide pair perfectly for match-grade accuracy and are equipped with Dawson Precision® Fiber Optic front and fully-adjustable rear sights. So if the 5 inch bull barrel is legal on the Sig the Grand Power Excalibur should be legal right? This is why I am not a a big fan of IDPA the rules just do not make sense.
  7. Well that would be sweet I would love to shoot my X calibur in IDPA!
  8. The Dawson sights use a much smaller set screw and they put it in a different location than factory. I love their sight but I do feel this is a poor design. As over time the sight tends to become loose. If they had just kept the factory size and location it would help hold it much better.
  9. I'm not sure the factory size, but it might be hard to find locally being surely metric. I would take your front sight to look for a set screw that works or if you can't find correct size. I would just thread it for a common sae size.
  10. I mostly use my De Turk chest rig. But if a stage has slugs or a different load, I will put the sport onto my belt. I rarely even bring the MG to matches.
  11. The sport for me worked every bit as good as the MG. It also held the shells in better in my opinion. I did loose shells in the MG more often. They both work great. I was just meaning I would not hesitate to buy the sport. I bought them at the same time. Had I tried them separately I would have chosen the sport for the cost savings and simplicity.
  12. I had an IPSC Alex RTS2 mount and a Vortex Razor. Loved the mount but I kept getting jams on ejection between the mount. I have since switched to a Henning mount for the C-more slideride at a 90 degree and love it with no chance of it having the same jam. Your e my differ lol
  13. I have both the Taccom MG and the Sport. I honestly prefer the Sport. They both work great. If I was to do it over again I would not buy the MG and just used the Sport. So if you decided to go that route I do not think you will regret it. I mostly use an De Turk chest rig I got off of here used. So having some experience with all 3.....The sport series will not hold you back.
  14. Ok that is good information. I'll probably pick up the Taccom setup to try out.
  15. Does the Taccom setup play well with a JP bolt? Right now I'm running JP bolts and silent captured springs in both my PCCs. I run factory ammo. I'm pretty happy with my guns now and feel the recoil is minimal. Is the Taccom worth trying? Anyone used the JP setup and switched to the Taccom? Thanks
  16. Greg Peine of Peine Customs built me a comp on a small frame Tanfoglio. He has always done outstanding work for me. He is located in Kempner TX.
  17. If I had shot an X Calibur before I owned I'll my Tanfoglios I would probably only own Grand Powers. In my opinion it's far superior to a Glock. The only thing the Glock has is unlimited aftermarket support. But literally the X Calibur is good to go from the factory. Fantastic trigger. Only better stock SA/DA I've felt is a shadow 2. But it's not 400 plus dollars better.
  18. Plus 1 to what Memphis said. My buddy shoots a ppq, I have very large hands and with his ppq my hand was almost falling off the lower portion. It did not feel good at all to me. The Canik fits me better but with my Tp9sfx I have to wrap my support finger around the trigger guard or I hit the slide lock. Which sucks in idpa.
  19. Franchi Affinity. Is the best bang for your buck in my opinion. Made by Benelli not much more than Stoeger. But better quality. To me it's the real budget king. Nothing wrong with the Stoeger but if you compare them side by side the difference is noticable.
  20. I have both a Grand Power X Calibur and TP9SFX. Between the 2 I would go with the Grand Power. Love it. I also have 4 different Tanfoglios. The Grand Power recoils like a heavy steel gun but points fast due to it's actual weight. I'm a fan. But all the guns that you mentioned will do the job. It's the shooter not the gun. Get what works best for you and your budget.
  21. Looks good! Did you want to replace it because it kept breaking? I hear a lot of guys shooting major talk about this. I only have 9 mm and that .45 hunter slide I bought off of you. I have not yet had any rear sights break. I do when purchasing a front sight usually run a Dawson .120 the lowest I think they make to keep the sight screwed down as much as possible to hopefully help alleviate this cause I am paranoid. keep us informed of how it works.
  22. Yes I agree I'm running through plus 9 so I don't mind the 28 inch barrel. The 26 would definitely work too.
  23. Yes Nordic has extensions as well as Moa precision. I have a Nordic on mine. But it's not the Benelli extension nut you need the Affinity uses the threads that a Stoeger M2000 uses. TTI lifter is a drop in as well as all there oversized safety.
