  1. Yep, you can make your own holster or modify an existing one to your hearts content under the new rules so long as it meets the criteria of the new holster rules. I still see SO's call cover while someone is reloading and telling them that they have to suck back in and be completely behind cover for their reload, again old rules still being enforced. I know it's only been a few years since the changes but you would think that folks would get around to reading the new rules by now.
  2. The rule that you are thinking about is Paragraph F under safety rules. It says that you may be disqualified for unsafe gun handling. It says the following are examples (but not limited to). F. A Premature Shot: in the holster; striking behind (up range of) the firing line; into the ground downrange closer to the firing line than two yards; or over a berm. Since F. is an example but "not limited to" the examples given it would be up to the discretion of the SO and match director to define unsafe gun handling. We can probably agree that an AD at the unload and show clear would be defined a unsafe gun handling. I lay some blame on the SO as well but the shooter has final responsibility to operate his weapon safely.
  3. I think that it came about due to the number of people that find dumping the extra round is faster and easier than the RWR/Tac load. It' kind of the technique to keep from having to do a RWR.
  4. I shot an 11 round stage at one match. I was thinking about the 9+1 guys when I saw it and was happy to be a 10+1 guy at the time.
  5. I can't think of any extra penalty. The added 10 seconds would not exactly be called gaming it. 10 points plus a 5 second FTN, I would rather have had the bullets. The only way I can think that it would ever be another penalty would be if it gave you a competitive advantage to take a 10 second hit rather than shoot the last target. I have never seen a scenario that it would be worth the 10 seconds to skip the last target.
  6. I have never gotten a definitive answer on this situation you describe. The rule books says that "All reloads must be executed from cover (if cover is available)". I can't get anyone to define "available", is it 2 yards, 5 yards, 10 yards ? I wish this was in print and not left open to interpretation.
  7. After I read this post I ordered a set of speedloader holders from Ready Tactical. I ordered them on the 16th and they arrived today. I wasn't in any rush so I figured that I would test them out. I ordered online and they arrived in less than 2 weeks. I just wanted to report back that all went well with my order.
  8. For IDPA, are you buying 2 double pouches and putting one in front of the holster and one behind. IDPA rules say that you can only have 3 loaders but having a double in front and back would give you a place to put your load and make ready loader in the extra pouch in back. You would still start the stage with 3 loaders on your belt which would be legal, no rules on the number of pouches, just the number of loaders.
  9. I'm going to guess that you may have to open the window in the grip frame to get it to make weight. I believe those kits take a bushing-less barrel
  10. I haven't seen the bag but I figured that with the .39 cent investment in the stamp plus the envelope that I'll get my monies worth.
  11. I was happy to have found this before the time ran out on this offer. This one runs out in a few days so I figured that it needed to be bumped up.
  12. So I guess a bungee lanyard that sucked the mag into your pocket would not be allowed. I know, ... Gammer
  13. Yes please get one and settle this. Since your P18 was advertised at 40oz but actually came in at 41.6oz, I guess you'll just have to buy one to find out. I think someone said the high cap mags weigh less than the 10 rounders but just buy both to be sure.
  14. Banned from import by Bill C if I remember right.
  15. I can't think of any unless you have made any prohibited modifications and it fits in the box. Keep in mind that the weights that Para list on their site are without magazine and IDPA weights are with magazine, this usually adds 2.5 - 3.5 oz. Weight limit for SSP is 39 oz.
  16. As far as I know, the last rule change killed the LDA due to weight.
  17. There wasn't an option for "My IDPA gun and different holster". They won't let me use my carry holster for IDPA so I had to get another holster for competition. Ops, I'm using a competition only holster.
  18. I think your taking some minor criticism to seriously. I said that I enjoyed the match and that the SO's did a great job and worked hard. Just because the COF's were not my favorite kind has nothing to do with me being able to enjoy the match. I shot poor on the first day and much better on the second. The first day was entirely my fault and had nothing to do with the COF's. To answer your last question about assuming that anyone who voiced any criticism must not have trophied... I did win my class and division. I didn't see anyone except you call the Nationals a farce. As I said before, they were fun and those that worked to put it on should be commended for their hard work. No body is ever going to be happy with every aspect of a match. The goal is to have the overall experience a good one and I think that it was. Peace
  19. No real issue with the COF's, I just hate to see skills that I have practiced go to being off the clock. I look at the gun handling skills as an opportunity to get ahead of the competition. One string had you start holding a case and some keys. At the signal drop the case and keys, advance and shoot 3 on one target and 3 on another then reload off the clock before the next string. Kind of hard to gain any ground on anyone with such a short string with the reload off the clock. We are only talking a 3 second string. I had a good time even in the mud. I just like a little longer strings with the reloading skills kept on the clock. At least when we shot in the rain and mud, we got to go clean up after a half day. The poor SO's had to keep it going all day. They earned their keep on this one.
  20. Stage 4 bay 6 had another mandatory tac-lod/reload with retention at the back of the car. I want all reloads on the clock; reloads are a gun handling skill that is necessary and should be tested. I don't know of any defensive situations that give you a time out to get your gun ready to fight. If IDPA is going to pretend to test defensive skills, lets test them all.
  21. The Butcher Shop (or Block) is just south of the Holiday Inn that was used last year as the match hotel. Best 20oz or 30oz steaks you'll EVER have. Enjoy. Yum, dead cow sounds good to me. Sorry Jane, I can't go with just veggies.
  22. What's printed twice? There is nothing in the rule book about a shooter making an honest attempt and not being given a procedural. If it hits the ground and it wasn't a malfunction clearance then it's a procedural if you didn't pick it up. Page 35 & 36 don't have anything about reloads. I think you must be in the wrong rulebook.
  23. The trigger shoe rule is for safety. It refers to the wide shoes that go over a trigger and sometimes stick out past the trigger guard so that when you holster the gun the shoe hangs on the holster and fires the weapon as you holster. Anyone with just a tiny bit of since would not try to apply this to the STI inserts. As far as vest pockets, The Hunnicutt vest is approved which has pockets that hang open like a front end loader bucket. I can't imagine what would be denied if these super gamer vests are ok. I can't understand how these are approved because the pockets are definitely designed to stay open.
  24. From his name, I'm going to guess he is from maybe Pakistan so we'll have to give him some slack. I love my spell checker.
  25. I went round and round with the feds on this once. I asked if I can make a gun for personal use and they said yes but you can't ever sell or trade the gun because it has not had the excise tax paid. I asked how I could go ahead and pay the tax as an individual to avoid ever having any problems and their response was that I could not pay the tax, only a licensed manufacturer can pay the tax. From their response, there is no way for an individual to pay the excise tax.
