  1. Holy crap that video is humbling! Thank you Mr Kelley for contributing to this thread, and providing night shift nurses with hours of entertainment on your youtube channel!
  2. On the bright side the normal lower would let you have short barrel 5.56 uppers, etc ,etc I have looked at a .223 SBR before but I'd like to keep it quiet. Maybe a .300 blackout but that is a lot of case prep to mess with.
  3. I'd definitely stay with 3/8 for personal handgun use. It is heavy enough to lug around as it is. I have shot my 3/8" plates with .223 at 200 yards and not a scratch on it.
  4. Could you post a picture of the bullet tip? How much pressure do you have on the down stroke when loading these rounds? I would think you would have to press pretty hard to deform the bullet enough to make a change in accuracy.
  5. I can't help with shell plate advice, I just wanted to say thanks for giving me a new caliber to look up. I had no idea this round existed, sounds like a lot of fun.
  6. Good luck with the load development. As others have mentioned, the plunk test is the only way to be sure. I would second the recommendation for a round nose as well. Unless you are hunting with it I haven't found a good reason for a big flat meplat.
  7. Not bad Russell. My first formal shooting experience was a Bob Vogel class and I remember seeing his glock that had been fired so much that the slide was bare. I determined to stay with one platform until my gun looked like that, then maybe I can have a quarter of the skill that man does.
  8. Come on guys, don't tell me there isn't anyone out there who actually uses their guns. Here is my G34, I have probably 7k rounds through it. Finally getting a couple of shiny spots on the end of the slide. Lets see what you have!
  9. How good of a trigger are you looking for? A smooth faced trigger, (-) connecter and a .25 cent trigger job will get you a decent trigger. If you want more than that, get a Vanek GSSF trigger kit and you will have a good trigger.
  10. The lower should be standard, Upper would require a bolt and carrier group. A quick google search didn't show anyone making a low mass. My first AR was a left handed stag, which I ended up getting rid of due to parts compatibility. It was nice not having the brass fly in front of your face but I prefer having a standard set up.
  11. Nice shooting! I am only 200 rounds into my 43 but I really enjoy it so far. Holster should be in this week and it can work its way into the carry rotation. Did you go with the ghost edge or pro? A new connector is on the shopping list, as well as the TTI basepads.
  12. Our local range only goes out to 500, so maybe I will give it a try this summer. I normally only shoot out to 300 with 69gr pills, how heavy can you stabilize in a 1:9?
  13. We have a Glock porn thread and everyone is showing off pictures of these beautiful pristine looking weapons, but I want to see your high round count well-loved Glocks. If your gun has a scratch or too, finish is gone from too much dry fire, etc. this thread is for you! Once I figure out how to post a picture I will show my humble contribution... sadly is has most of its finish on it but I'm starting to get some holster wear.
  14. Very nice rifle! I plan on trying out an F-TR match at some point, but I don't think I will be very competitive with a .223. It looks like a lot of fun.
  15. Wipe-out was recommended by an old shooter a while back and I absolutely love it. Foam until it comes out the other side and let it sit overnight, then a couple of runs with a brush and then patch it out until it clean. I had a chance to use a bore scope a while back and realized that bore snakes and hoppes just don't cut it.
  16. I use the cabelas brand tumbler and it works great, but am looking into using a concrete mixer for wet tumbling.
  17. I use 3.4 of tg on a 135 with great results. I have never tried any other powders so I can't help you there, but I have used titegroup and bayou with the following, all loaded to 1.135 3.2 for 147 gr 3.4 for 135gr 3.8 for 124gr
  18. If you are okay with vertical mag pouches ready tactical makes a pretty cool one that is just a one-piece kydex that is folded up. I am not sure what you limited guys do with canted mag pouches though.
  19. The lower part of the front of the slide being milled to slide under like that is just sexy. Well done sir
  20. I have Trijicon HDs on my Glock 19 and love them. Sorry in advance for a stupid question, but can the HDs from my 19 fit a 43? i would think they would be too wide to fit the 43. Also the 43 uses a taller rear sight than other 9mm glocks, if i am not mistaken (long bar over short bar) i think it (43) uses the same height rear sight as the long slide 9mm.... from the factory.... The factory 43 sights are .160 in the front and .165 in the rear. I think the factories for the long slides are a little taller.
  21. If you are dead set between those two I would go with the redding as well. You should be able to set it up for both calibers on the same toolhead and just swap out the shell holder.
  22. You may be buying the wrong type can? There are two versions of marking paint. One is for the rolly thingy and sort of looks like a t shape and the other has a long stem that you bend over to spray by hand. The t shaped thingy will cover you in paint every time. I am using the one with the long stem that comes out vertically from the top of the can. It works fairly well, I just seem to get a lot more overspray in larger blobs out of these cans. Oh well, paint comes off eventually.
  23. The co-ax is a premier single stage for reloading precision rifle rounds, but might be a bit overkill for 9mm and 45LC. The redding would be a great press as well, but if I may suggest a cheaper and easier route. I would look into getting a RCBS Rockchucker kit. This comes with a solid press, a good powder measure and a great scale. Get a set of calipers and dies and you will be ready to rock. Now pick up a set of hornady locking die rings, and you can set the dies once and just unscrew one die and replace it with the next step with nothing more than a verification of settings. This will allow you to change dies in 30 seconds and be ready to rock and roll. This is the way I started and I was able to load 100 rounds/hr without too much trouble. Single stages are all about economy of motion. Eventually my ammo needs justified the purchase of a progressive press, but if I was shooting 150 rounds/month I would be perfectly content with the rock chucker (I still use it for several calibers). http://www.midwayusa.com/product/646599/rcbs-rock-chucker-supreme-single-stage-press-master-kit http://www.midwayusa.com/product/1165236200/hornady-sure-loc-die-locking-ring-7-8-14-thread?cm_vc=ProductFinding
  24. I have used a brass punch on tritium with no effect on the vials. Just go slow and use little taps and you should be fine.
