  1. Maybe the screen name should be AspiringPistolsmith? Kuhnhausens book will tell you all you need to know. http://www.brownells.com/gunsmith-tools-supplies/books-amp-videos/books/handgun-gunsmithing-books/the-s-w-revolver-a-shop-manual-5th-edition-prod73553.aspx
  2. I may eventually do this, but the cost is tricky. I'm worried about sending my whole mag collection (25 or so) in and them getting lost along the way, but breaking them into two lots means double the cost since they seem to price consistently for small lots. Maybe this winter in the off season - I'd like to get my steel grips done too. Shot with them today in a match with my open gun (9mm). They drop free fine and I'd think the slicker inside would make them less prone to feeding issues. I was worried the slick finish (they do feel slick like a Teflon pan) would see me tossing them on reloads but no issue so far...
  3. Reciprocating slide seems like a silly reason. The lack of a reciprocating slide on a revolver wouldn't give 8 shot revos any competitive advantage, although it does open up mounts to gaming I guess. Or just make Matebas legal in the division - I need an excuse to buy one. This makes more sense, but it seems like an easy bridge to gap. Allow dots on revolvers as well subject to any weight limits. Everything else is the same re: revolver accommodations to production.
  4. Well I can google. I guess I'm interested in the durability during actual use. Although Teflon inside the mag can't be a bad thing...
  5. I had been looking for a couple extra 9mm 140mm STI mags but haven't seen any complete mags for sale for the last few months. Until today when I saw these on DP. Never heard of Xylan before - any idea of the durability?
  6. I'd settle for a nice rounded baseplate like the Dawson precision ones. My palm is still aching from slamming home a mag last weekend.
  7. I see tons of Unique and have seen 2400 a fair bit recently at my local store.
  8. Your old. Shit happens. Go see a sports med or ortho doc. Orthos tend towards PT then cutting, most sports meds will try to get you back to doing what you want with the least interruption possible.
  9. I'm pretty sure there's never a scenario in which a non-licensee can legally receive a handgun via common carrier, even if it's being shipped across the street.Maybe if it had been shipped back to the mfr for warranty repair, but I wouldn't bet on that. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I send guns to my builder for work by UPS and he sends right back to my house. If I have him build one he must send it to an FFL for initial trip.More or less Idk how he does it, unless he has a mfr license and it's being done under the guise of warranty work.An individual can legally ship a handgun to an FFL. The problem is USPS won't ship handguns except between FFLs. FedEx & UPS will, but only priority overnight (at least the last time I checked). Go to their site and calculate shipping. But make sure you're sitting down. UPS and FedEx don't require overnight for their commercial account holders. Buds Guns basically sells you access to their corporate rates with their shipmygun.com service. It's typically the same price or less as paying a transfer fee and having an FFL send via priority mail.
  10. Somewhere between 2.7 and 3.0, loading to 1.160, will get you to minor. I'd start at 2.8. The only load I've chrono'd more than 5 or so of was 2.7 GR which averaged 120 PF over about 20 rounds
  11. What fingers. Thumb and index is classic carpal tunnel, pinky and ring is cubital tunnel (cell phone elbow). If you're a desk jockey either can be caused by your computer setup.
  12. I don't think so, Federal Cartridge is owned by Vista Outdoor, Lake City is owned by the federal government and the Lake City Army Ammunition plant in Missouri is operated by Alliant Techsystems and Orbital Sciences (ATK). That's a relatively recent development. ATK spun off Vista last year - until then they were all part of ATK. That said, the product lines have some overlap but aren't identical. Vista makes CCI and Federal primers - very different.
  13. Email DAA. They shipped me inserts for my Glock mags free of charge. Two were still a little tight so I emailed the exact thickness of the two that fit - they sent two more milled to that thickness.
  14. What's the difference between Federal's standard SPP and their Match SPP?I've heard that it's some kind of quality control issue... More experienced help manning the machines.
  15. Change your billing address to match your PO box. Problem solved.
  16. To be fair, the local Walmart has the exit on the right (if you're entering). Assuming you've been raised to not be an a_-hole and keep to right, that's the problem. No comment on literacy vs. lemmingacy.
  17. Nicely done. Wondering if it's an old Brazos...
  18. Can I ask did you get it for? I'm guessing you essentially stole it.
  19. I'm Right Hand / Left Eye and shoot with both eyes open. No tape or anything crazy. If the target is close enough that I see two sights I'm probably pointing not aiming per se.
  20. CBC brass by any chance? I've had lots of issues w my PM9 and 147s with CBC brass. The chamber is indeed very tight.
  21. All the Xtreme HPs are heavy plate, not sure what heavy base is..?
  22. I would agree that a tight shell plate and making sure the primer punch is screwed in is key. The primer punch goes well into the primer pocket so it's not going to bottom out without seating a primer fully. The ergo handle does give you less leverage - I hated using Win primers but have never had an issue w Federal. Good luck.
  23. We use the standard porta-potty but with the benefit that no one stands outside waiting for the tell-tale sound of Velcro separating in an attempt to DQ us.
  24. This is my excuse too. I'm transgunder. I can't help it - I was born this way. And the local steel matches where you can shoot Open, Stock, and Revolver in a single match don't help. My pronoun is gun.
  25. Powder Valley here too. Their website is outdated but their selection and speed is great.
