  1. Sorry. Got the impression you were talking about open.
  2. Sounds like your POI shift is not consistent. I grip the gun on the barricade so hard that the metal cuts my fingers. That's why I wear gloves. I don't push or pull on the barricade. I keep my support arm straight. That way, any movement in the barricade is dampened by my shoulder.
  3. We tried a similar approach when they forced the grip safety rule on us. Simple solution, when asked the model of gun at the safety check have them write 1905 instead of 1911! Then watch their minds explode!! Lol
  4. As long as your POI shift is consistent, just hold where you need to sink them in the x and you're good. I developed a shift while I was at the practice range one year. I was throwing shots high right at 25 and 35 on the right side. I didn't have time to figure out the problem so I just held low left at the edge of the x ring. Worked well as I shot 48 x's that year. Might be worth a try.
  5. Ross, The only safety that you can do away with is firing pin block on a Smith by using another slide.Same with a Colt with the series 80.It was said that the 1911 was designed with a grip safety so it better have one. I would suggest a Witness or a Tangfolio.
  6. It says Performance Center on it. It would be considered a Metallic gun.
  7. I really couldn't tell you what my routine is. Can't remember if I flip it before I reload or after. I try to get in the habit of touching the lever just before I put my hand up. I was smoking the mover at Bianchi in 2013. I'm talking x'ed out the 10 and 15. Thought about the 20 yard line before I stepped out of the box at 15 and forgot to flip it. as soon as I fired the 3 shots at 20 I knew what I did. My 20 yard target had 9 x's and 3 shots off the target!! Finished up with a "perfect" 450 mover. Lesson learned the very hard way. I would suggest flipping it first and then reload. Then check it again.
  8. Nah. Just the usual guy. Does that mean I don't get to be chauffeured around in the 747 without wings? Just kidding. Checked into flights last night. Doesn't look bad. Any better to go through San Fran instead of LAX?
  9. Just a couple of years? I believe the first Michigan matches were in 2005! You're funny Coatsey. Lol
  10. Thanks bud. I know too. I'd just like to see it go more in our favor.
  11. I'm all for the change. As usual, looks like I'm in the minority. Lol. That is, as long as they aren't the same four events!! BORING!!!!!!
  12. Slightly less sedate?? You talking about the new charger? There's no telling about Travis. I'm sure he would be stomping his foot on the floor. Lol
  13. I was just giving him a hard time. I'm sure he'll be thinking about doing it..Lol
  14. Hey Richard, Are you going to be sending a container back NZ after the Cup next year?
  15. I got my gun certificate there. Why didn't you get one? They gave me a photocopy and I have to wait for the original. They were collecting w4s for the guns and cash.I guess I could contact Colt and see if I can redeem it before getting the original. I guess I didn't pay enough attention to it to realize it was a copy. Oops!
  16. I got my gun certificate there. Why didn't you get one?
  17. I'm wondering the same thing. I sent mine as soon as I got home. I did get a letter from NRA. It was a letter from John Bianchi.
  18. The 9 is just too finicky for me to mess with. Powder selection is not very good. I would say that if you only used starline brass and reload only your brass then it would be fine. Too many want a 9 because they can pick just any brass up on the range. Not all 9mm cases are alike. These guns are finely tuned machines and cost thousands. With the power factors that we run, it doesn't take much to cause trouble. Would you run unleaded in a top fuel dragster? I don't think so. Same principle here.
  19. Thanks, guys. This past year has been truely humbling with shooters from all disciplines congratulating me. looking forward to seeing most of you in the next few weeks.
  20. The Ruger would be best. Put a red dot on it and let her have a ball.
  21. I'm with toothguy on this one. The 686 plus (7 shot) is far superior in production than any semi auto currently made. I had Hamilton Bowen go through the trigger and replace the sights. Earned my distinguished medal in Production lickidy split.
  22. Then you shoot in Metallic class. As long as the first shot is double action and under the barrel length limit, you should be goos.
