  1. I have thought that someone could have a decent business charging $95 to retrofit the breech face cut to pre Gen 5 pistols (technically the breach cut started at the same time forward serrations appeared on Gen 5 pistols).
  2. I just got two 6moa R3 Max optics back from service, and they sent new units with the new buttons.
  3. As I read the new rules, IDPA is pretty much mandating appendix carry.
  4. Like a stock trigger in reset.
  5. I have shot about 400 rounds through this trigger and love it. The main difference is between the wall and trigger break -- the creep is gone. So far it has been reliable.
  6. Early on, they seemed to lose zero, with the fix being to go in and tighten a screw. Sig seems to have fixed that, as mostly all I see are the buttons stopping to work properly, the display lens cracking from impact, and recently one of mine developed a halo around the emitter.
  7. This will be a home run. The only thing I see missing is a hat autographed by Nils.
  8. Here are some 2022 stats from area matches 1,2,3. area 1 -- 388 shooters CO 143 open 103 limited 52 PCC 48 SS 16 Prod 22 L10 4 Revo 0 area 2 -- 480 shooters CO 147 open 138 limited 65 PCC 72 SS 31 Prod 21 L10 0 Revo 6 area 3 -- 352 shooters CO 117 open 84 limited 71 PCC 36 SS 3 Prod 39 L10 0 Revo 2
  9. Regarding the high overall discussion, I can remember shooting IPSC back in the 90's, and eagerly waiting for match results from our local matches to arrive in the mail. I liked the clubs that got the results out before the following month's match. Those results were combined, with a notation of Open or Limited. I shot Limited and always tried to beat as many Open guys as possible. Today, at local matches, most folks are trying to place as high as possible in overall, and it is really at larger matches that placement in your division becomes the goal. With LO and CO having similar capacity, similar scoring, and somewhat similar pistols, you can be assured that CO shooters will compare their placement with LO and vice versa.
  10. I have owned multiple Timney Glock triggers. I couldn't imagine using a Timney trigger in a carry Glock, as it completely changes the design of the fire control system in the Glock. Perhaps this is why Timney says it for "competition use only." If I felt like a non Timney Glock trigger didn't cut it for me, I would pick a different pistol.
  11. Holosun offers 6 moa dots in the RMSc footprint (407K, EPS and EPS Carry), and 8 moa in the 407CO which has the RMR footprint.
  12. I shot a M&P in CO for over a year, and the combination of a less tapered magazine profile and the shape of the M&P mag well, makes the M&P harder for me to load fast than most other CO pistols. here is a picture, from top to bottom, of a Rival, M&P 2.0, Gen 5 Glock and the Sig AXG. Even after filing the M&P, it has a tighter profile than the others.
  13. Over the years, I would periodically get tennis elbow from shooting, sometimes quite bad. I started doing the exercises referenced in the video around five years ago, and haven't had elbow problems since.
  14. Yep, the match does start at registration! Being in good shooting form and making sure your equipment is in order. Arriving at the match rested and with time to look over the stages. Eating early, avoiding alcohol, hydrating well, getting as much sleep as you can before and during the match. I stopped wearing my Garmin watch, because once I am there, heart rate, sleep scores, HRV and body battery are just noise -- I think positively and do the best I can.
  15. The point of being in good shape is an interesting discussion point. Obviously we want to be in the best shape possible, and I work hard at it. Most days my wife and I hike over 60 minutes with our bird dog. However, no matter your level of fitness, being on your feet all day at a match, especially when it is warm, will wear you down. Even though the "fit" shooter may do much better than someone not fit, the fit shooter is still not going to perform as well late in the day as earlier in the day. I have worn a heart rate monitor at many matches, and you can see as the day progresses your non shooting heart rate continues to rise through the day. If the match, for example, has you proceeding from the far bays at Rio, pulling your cart all the way back to stage 1, your heart rate definitely goes up more in successive stages. That also has implications for shooting the next day. There is a balance between sitting on your butt and not helping tape and reset, and running yourself down unnecessarily by constantly running to reset and paint steel.
  16. R3Max and 3XL have always been made in Japan, supposedly same factory that makes the RTS2.
  17. It takes a tremendous amount of work to set up and run one of these matches, so I would say you also get the satisfaction of supporting the club that made the match happen.

    AXG Grip?

Springer Precision now has right hand paddle style extended mag releases for the AXG.
  20. Update. When I use the OEM base pads (black plastic MecGar) the problems goes away. I believe the Taylor Freelance and aluminum OEM that come with the Rival are allowing over insertion, and causing the issue. You can simulate this with dummy rounds by gently pushing up on the TF and OEM aluminum basepads, as you try to do a slide lock reload.
  21. I am using the FTP plate and it has the little bosses. Working great. I ran into an issue with the Rival today. Thinking of shooting Production with it some, I decided to practice slide lock reloads. No surprise, the mags with extensions and Grams followers don't lock back. When I used the OEM mags, followers and bade pads, the slide locks back. However, when you insert a loaded mag, and hit the slide stop nothing happens, the slide stays locked back? Confirmed with multiple mags.

    Canik mags

Midway had mags in stock, limit of 2.
  23. I tried Federal 150 Syntech today to see how it grouped and felt. Started by loading 22 rounds of it into a MecGar with a Taylor Freelance 140 extension. The Syntech didn't want to chamber.
  24. I understand JM Custom Kydex plans to support the Rival with range and concealment holsters.
