  1. You're already running an adjustable gas block with the jp low mass carrier, to get the last bit of performance throw in the jp silent capture spring, it is already carbine length and will give you a nice smooth setup. It is pricey but proven, I love mine. You won't look back. JF
  2. As stated above in a few different posts the guide rod assembly is an exception to the visibly external modification. A reducer ring is not part of the guide rode which is why they are two seperate parts. I use the jager stainless gen 4 guide rod assembly which has a cap on the end, which is part of the guide rod assembly and therefore also part of the exception regardless of it's externally visible end cap. The zev tech needs a seperate adapter and is therefore illegal. All zev tech has to do it throw a screw in the end of it and sell it with attached to their reducer ring and voila! it is all one legal part just like the jager. I love IDPA and shoot SSP but they honestly should just make it SSP means it came out of the box period. If you don't like it shoot ESP and do whatever you want as long as you can conceal the pistol. It would make life easier one class for the "we shoot what we carry" crowd and another class for "we shoot what we want" regardless of wether YOU think it is defensive or not. You'd never have another wait for a rules clarification from Ray or whoever again. Future rule clarifications would go like this "Hey Ray from IDPA I got a new brownells hyperblaster trigger and firing pin intergrated unit is it SSP legal?", Ray would then "Sorry Cletus (or other IDPA shooter similar name) glocks don't come with hyperblaster and firing pin intergrated units stock so you will have to shoot ESP. Thanks for contacting IDPA and have a great day". JF
  3. I hear that is barrel is the way to go. I'm hoping I can feel one at the Vegas 3gun nation event this month and decide if I want to take the plunge. I wish the barrel was cheaper, I don't understand why a shotgun barrel costs so much when I can have white oak armament make a custom AR barrel for me for the same price or cheaper. JF
  4. I posted this earlier but why not again Posted Today, 01:59 PM I started with a blade tech and then won a comp tac from an IDPA event. The blade tech is a little slimmer which I like in three gun for belt space since I'm so dang skinny. The comp tac has a deeper draw cut and seems to be a little smoother out of the holster. If you want to use something you might actually carry I would suggest a hideous holster (zero concealment systems). They are holsters made by cops in their garage, they are a good price, ship fast and the body hugging kydex holsters are the way to go for concealment. I wear one for duty everyday.
  5. Zev tech makes a Standard Fulcrum kit and a Fulcrum fully adjustable kit. The standard has an option of competition or tactical which dictates the amount of pre-travel removed ie how much of the welded tab is filed down. https://www.glockworx.com/Detail.aspx?PROD=793696&CAT=3688 The glocktriggers.com edge trigger is not SSP legal because of external modifications not because of pre travel reduction. They make the vogel trigger to be SSP legal. They are nice triggers al well. I haven't tried your trigger yet so I guess you're the next stop on my list.
  6. Changing many springs may not give you the desired effect next time change springs that reduce the trigger pull such as the ones below. Might change your mind. glockmeister trigger spring (up to half a pound) http://www.glockmeister.com/Glockmeister-Competition-Trigger-Spring/productinfo/G349/ striker spring (up to 1 pound) http://www.glockmeister.com/Glockmeister-Reduced-Power-Firing-Pin-Spring/productinfo/GMRPFPS/ zev tech trigger spring (up to 1 pound) http://www.glockworx.com/Detail.aspx?PROD=155958&CAT=3697 striker spring (up to 1 pound) http://www.glockworx.com/Detail.aspx?PROD=155954&CAT=3697
  7. The major benefit is you CAN run a much lighter recoil spring since there is less mass to move back into battery but you don't have to. You also will find that less slide mass can result in less muzzle flip. I would shoot a properly tuned one I think you'll like it.
  8. I run the full zev tech standard and ultimate in multiple glock pistols I have found that the trigger springs make a very small difference to the trigger usually only resulting in a half pound to a full pound reduction. The firing pin spring will have a much bigger impact on pull weight which I'm sure you've noticed before. The combos i like the most are the zev reduced power spring with the oem trigger spring. I also like the glockmeister reduced power spring with the zev trigger spring.
  9. This would be a perfect Heavy metal pistol as stated before. I wish all 3 gun rules would get rid of that stupid has to be a 1911 rule and I may pick one up. Thanks for the mini review.
  10. I want a glock 24 after buying my 17L a few months ago I'm addicted to these long slide glocks! Glock needs to get off their duff and make some new long slides.
  11. Use the strap that allows you to reach the mag release without changing your grip this should also put you in the best trigger pad position as well. From what you've said it honestly sounds like the no back strap may be great for you. You can probably reach the mag release and the slide release no problem and your trigger finger is probably in a great spot. The 1911 grip is slim and people love it because they can really grip it well.
  12. This may sound silly but when I was new to glocks I thought the pin in the grip frame was only if you used the extended back straps. This allowed the rear trigger housing to raise up and give me battery/jamming issues as well. Check for it.
  13. I have never been able to get any of my glocks to go back into complete battery doing the function test with a 13lb spring. The 15 pound springs work much better for me. I hold the glock up at about 45 degree to 90 degrees pull the slide back and slowly let the slide forward and check for battery. Some competitors are okay if this is done vertically, I'm not. That's just me though you will have to accept what level of battery return you're comfortable with.
  14. What brand springs are you using? I've found that one companies 2-6 pound spring does not always match another's. I use the zev tech springs in one glock and the glockmeister springs in another. I would get a glock OEM spring and some wolf extra power springs and see what happens. If that doesn't work I would put the stock firing pin back in and try the springs again. I would doubt it but there is a chance that the firing pin has a problem. If you can't get ignition with the stock firing pin and the stock firing pin spring then I personally would get the hell away from that ammo.

    SJC Heavy

I had the same problem on my glock gen 3 glock 17L. I had to take the gun and push it hard (fully body weight) into my carpet in order to get it fully seated into the gun. After that I was able to screw the grip frame screw in correctly. This fixed my issue with Taylor Freelance magazines and I imagine will fix your TTI issue as well.
  16. Seems pretty good to go. I use the tac-grip tape from CPWSA. I never could get my glocks to go back into battery with 13 pound springs so make sure to check for proper battery if you go with the 13 pounder. I use the 15 in all my glocks.

    Gen 3 or 4 34?

If you have small to medium size hands the gen 4 is better bar none, the little bump on the gen 4 trigger bar does make the stock trigger a little less smooth but most people change the trigger out right away anyway. If you have medium to large hands the gen 3 is cheaper and has way more accessories and holsters both new and used. I use a gen 4 glock 34 and a gen 3 glock 17L I really wish glock would make a gen 4 17L so I could get the slimmer grip.
  18. the caliber conversion will be much much cheaper than building a new slide. I run a 17l in 3 gun and occasionally limited division it is a sick gun I wish glock would start making some more again so everyone should be able to get in on the long slide badassness.
  19. The vickers on the gen 4 and the factory extended are very slight and you should have no problems running them. The vickers is not SSP or Production legal only the OEM extended versions are since they external modifications. I just got one from glockmeister last week for 6 bucks.
  20. For limited I would rock a zev tech ultimate fulcrum trigger which I use in my 3 gun pistol and sometimes in limited USPSA. For SSP I run the standard fulcrum which is IDPA SSP legal. I have no light primer issues and I run CCI primers in my reloads. If you have a light primer issue I would suggest the glockmeister reduced power spring it is the next step in power and should clear the problem up.

    G26 for IDPA?

I have used my 26 in idpa and use it as my back up gun/off duty gun. You will be fine with it if you want to run it, I use a glock 34 since its easier to run, gives more velocity for power factor and the grip fits me better. I have a buddy who uses his glock 26 in every competition he does and he owns with it. Using one gun all the time will make you very proficient with it. The classifier course can easily be shot with a glock 26 and I'm sure if you gave one to a glock master ssp shooter he would still make master with it.
  22. One thing to mention is that shotgun triggers for the most part suck. People flinch a lot usually when shooting shotguns and the heavy triggers also aid in it pulling to the right. Getting a rear sight and a trigger job may be your answer.
  23. Had this same problem and it was worse whenever I was shooting high recoil rounds. If you're still having trouble I would send it to C-rums he will get that lifter straightened out he worked wonders for me. Welding a lifter is more than just throwing metal wherever you want if it's not done right it will throw your system into disarray.
  24. It does nothing on the versa max, mark (an engineer) from carbon arms runs 2.5 dram shells out of his gun which is as light as you would ever run with no milling. In the case of a shotgun just like an ar platform I would want more mass ramming that round into the chamber. If you want it go for it, it looked cool on my versa max but don't expect any performance gain.
  25. The heavy dove are my go to number 6 shot and I haven't had a problem with them the last year. You may have just gotten a bad batch I wouldn't give up on them just yet since they are easy to find at walmart/sporting good stores which is nice.
