  1. I ordered one of the SwitchViews from MGM: 1613-1655. The link that you offered is an interesting one, but they don't have a lever for a Leupold VX-6, 1-6. Thanks for sharing.
  2. I tried that code on something besides bullets, it didn't work for me on that product. Can you tell me more about what the parameters are of this code please? Thanks for sharing. This is a great price if you need the 6000 bullets at a time. If you just want to try the Hornady's 55 grainers the previous link I put will get you a pretty decent price for just buying 500 at a time.
  3. $77 / 1000 delivered. Just ordered these this morning. I've never ordered from these guys before but the price was right. After I posted this I see the format of the cut and paste didn't transfer very well, but you still will get the idea. Hornady 55 FMJ BT W/C: http://www.nereloading.com/index.php/product/featured/hornady-55-grain-fmj-223-projectiles.html Your order #XXXXXXXXX Placed on June 3, 2016 9:03:38 AM EDT Item Sku Qty Subtotal Hornady 55 Grain FMJ BT .223 Projectiles (500 Count) HO2267B 2 $77.00 Subtotal $77.00 Shipping & Handling $0.00 Grand Total $77.00
  4. Anyone loading CFE 223 in both the 223 & 308. In the press releases it talks about both and it is spherical. https://www.hodgdon.com/new_prod.html
  5. Do you have a link for Midway with a 1613-1655SV - Switchview™? I can't find one on Midway or Brownells and Switchview is currently out of stock until the middle of June. Would love a link anywhere that has one in stock. Would prefer a PM on this for now. I can find the 1655 but not the one on the Switchview site that says that it fits the Leupold VX-6 which is the 1613-1655SV. Thanks for the help and the push in the right direction in advance.
  6. I've heard that the glass is updated and better than the TR24, where the cost was saved was in the lack of fiber optic and tritium construction. Looking forward to your review. I am curious if people find the magnification enough for 5/600 shooting on B/C steel targets. I really think this is a sleeper optic and at a good price point if you shop hard. Congrats on the new addition.
  7. Are you still running this optic? Curious if your opinion has changed after more time behind the glass? Any updates?
  8. Steve, did you end up with the upper and what do think after shooting it?
  9. Recent news pushes back the Burris XTR ii 1-8, to July or Aug now. They said they were focusing on filling backorders of current product before launching a new one Is there an optics company that makes an announced delivery date and actually hits their original target date without at least 3 revised pushback dates before it really releases?
  10. Joe, you answered your own question. It's NOT the Glock.
  11. Thanks for the heads up John on watching for the exact model number.
  12. If you haven't found something yet, this is something to watch. They are out of stock today. Even though I have a couple of expendable dollars to spend, I definitely understand trying to save a dollar here and save a dollar there on the exact same product. I call that smart shopping. http://www.ebay.com/itm/MGM-Switchview-1655SV-Leupold-VX-6-VX-8-Zeiss-Conquest-Scope-Magnification-Lever-/291322508739
  13. I found this post very interesting and it prompts the question: Even though you are using it currently, and you have all three, which one would you pick if you could only own one? Having owned none of those three, I would still guess the Swarovski, but will find your answer interesting.
  14. I see you didn't ask about which shirt to wear, I guess it's because you did a search and found out that I already asked that last year. Wait a couple of weeks until the season gets going good for me then I will try the tactical undy question. I'm glad that someone else started this thread and it might as well be Kurt.
  15. Kurt, have you ever heard of anyone in a match turning their power from 1 to 6 on a stage and then shooting their SFP optic for their holds only to find out after the stage that they only flipped the power ring to 5 or 5.5 or something other than their full power. By doing so, their holds were off? I'm asking a real question to help me make up my mind on whether I want a FFP or SFP optic in a 1-6 or 1-8 power range.
  16. So, if you decide to go with a 1-8 XTR II , would you get the first focal plane or the second focal plane model and why in this specific scope?
  17. I found the VX6 1-6 to be much closer in Price to the XTR II 1-8. The HD Razor was close to 30% more for the JM-1 reticle which is the hot ticket. Did I miss a good sale on the Razor somewhere? The Leupold is also a LOT lighter than the other two. When checking Optics Planet on the XTR II 1-8, the deliver dates look quicker for the second focal plane unit and the 1st focal plane unit is substantially delayed in comparison. I was just wondering today if he XTR 1-8 is worth between 40 to 50% more than the XTR II 1-5??? I've been following these types of discussions for a while now, while shopping for a new AR at the same time. I will be reading the answers here from others with great interest.
  18. This wound up being wisdom. Just sucked it up and spent the cash for a JP-15, 18", LMOS, and TD. Added an MRO, and while it broke the budget a bit, it's hard to wipe the smile for at least several hours after shooting it. Even cleaning it doesn't make the smile go away. After running a bunch of range and gallery trips, plus one indoor carbine comp, about the only thing I'd think of changing would be going to a lower with an ambi mag eject. As a left-hand shooter I just haven't yet worked out a non-awkward method. NE, thanks for sharing your adventure while making a decision on what to buy. Going with quality is never a bad choice. I'm glad you found something that both excites you and performs great. I was reading your latest response and I could feel the smile that the rifle put on your face. I hope to be in that same situation soon. Congrats again!
  19. If JP would offer their discount to Certified NRA Instructors (as most manufacturers do) then I definitely would have gone with JP. But I ended up going with my 2nd choice, which is the Colt Competition CRP-18. They've made some nice changes in the 2016 model: I'm really excited to get it (order placed, should be about 30 days). I'm sure eventually I'll change a few things on it, but it should provide a great place to start, and a nice upgrade from the Colt 6940P I'm currently using. It seems like the do-it-yourself crowd just can't fathom why others don't build. There's many legitimate reasons as to why not to build (not the least of which being time) so why waste digital ink trying to convince someone to build? I don't get that. John, thanks for the thoughts about the competition guns. I looked at Colt Competition's website and I don't see anything on their site talking about the new Gen 2 rifle. I did send them an email and asked about the rifle. I tried to find a YouTube video on the Gen 2 and there was nothing that I found. Very little information available on that rifle. Tell me more about that rail system. It looks like it is a modular rail. Are the mounting sections proprietary? It's not M-Lok, nor KeyMod. Love that the rifle comes standard with a G SSA-E for a trigger. Official thank you for all of your help.
  20. It was nice to see an actor developing his actual skill set with a respected instructor. You can see he has a developed skill set. I thought it was nice too see and good for our sport. If someone sees him doing that, maybe they get interested in our sport. If he is making some safety errors, I'm sure that Taran would provide the proper instruction. I'm looking at the glass more than half full here and seeing all of the good that the video does. By the way, who among us hasn't made any mistakes especially early on in the game? We all learned and learning is a continual process.
  21. I still own a book by Jim Carmichael, called The Book of the Rifle. It's an older book and not a 3 gun type publication, but in it he talks about eye sight and shooting and brings up the concept that the best shooters don't necessarily have the best eyesight. The two are not a direct correlation. While good eyesight doesn't hurt, it isn't the main key to good shooting. While I don't hold myself in the same company as Carmichael and the better shooters, I have to keep reminding myself that my scores are based on many other skills and not to use my lack of 20/20 vision as an excuse. Work on what I can work on and what I can't change - I can't change.
  22. I'm not worthy This getting old stuff is for the birds. Astigmatism and the dot in the red dots are pretty iffy these days. Bluntly looked through a Vortex 1-6 HD with illumination recently and that illuminated dot is blurred even with my glasses on at different intensities. These days, I take one blur and put it on top of another blur and do the best that I can and pull the trigger. Sad.
  23. I wanted to get another reps opinion, so yesterday I called Burris AGAIN to check the pulse. I see where OP says that this optic will ship between 16 and 25 days. The guy that I spoke to gave me a canned response of "shipping after April" After some more discussion and me telling him about my MRO experience and how I was disappointed with the release dates continually getting pushed back, he went and asked a supervisor and the answer from that guy was the release date would be most likely in June 2016 on the XTR II 1-8. I have other optics to use, but why do we all want to have the latest hottest right off of the press? What mechanism in our brains, think that the newest is the best?
  24. DVOR had those a week ago for $630 new and I passed. I saw some nice pictures here of the difference between the Burris on 5 and the Leupold VX6 on 6 power. That extra 20% power was a big difference to me. I understand that when I go to 1-8 the eye box is ever more critical and the eye relief is decreased. Maybe a 1-6 will be what is best for me. Like I said earlier, can't wait for the decision making to be over and the making noise begins.
