  1. Thats the news I wanted to hear!! I am waiting for Motor City Gun Works to get back from SHOT with my barrel. They have an 18" on one of their demo guns that is going on my gun from them when they get back next week. I was going to run testing like this on mine when I found a load the barrel liked and test the group sizes at 200 and 300 cold and hot.
  2. I don't know a lot about coatings and what materials can take what. Does anyone know if you can tin or hard chrome aluminum? That coating would hold up nicely but I'm not sure if aluminum can go through the process or not. This has got my attention for sure since I am getting a new gun built after shot for this reason.
  3. Hope I get in. This will be my first year applying for the match, after hearing great things from last year I couldn't pass it up in 2015!
  4. I load 3.0gr TG with Xtreme 147s and OAL of 1.6" for my 5.4" limited gun. I have not been worried about PF becuase I use it for 3gun but I believe it is right around 126ish. I think I am going to up the charge a little bit for next season, had some issues with poppers this year. And it is hard to call hits on gongs past 25 yards, had an RO miss it one time.
  5. Like it was said above, IF it does just send it to Acc-U-Rail. Doug does great work and the fit with the rails is perfect, I love my railed gun that he built.
  6. An adjustable gas block will help. There are some cheaper ones out there, I bought a used JP for 50 bucks and cleaned it up, I currently run a BTE adjsutable on my old match gun, new it was $45 and I have never had any issues with the set screw getting stuck or backing out on me. The JM brake works, plain and simple. Its cheap and it does what any other brake on the market will do. You don't need a special coating on the BCG, I personally prefer it just for making it easier to clean. My Young is chrome and I just use a rag to clean it off and lube it again, no need to do any scrubbing but a special coating is not needed. That being said, there was someone selling full mass BCGs on facebook for 100 bucks that were coated. I thougth about getting one and turning it into a light weight for a back up at work when I get bored.
  7. Why did the price jump to $45 for a membership??? Is it because of a magazine?
  8. It's an idea. I've had some people in Michigan ask me to do work for them, i never thought it would've been legal since they would have to be shipped and i didn't have a license to do it There is always a market for that, especially if you do the lifters and trim forearms too.
  9. Well, lets hoope that things don't get up and going when I am on my way home from work....
  10. I had my hands on several of these this weekend. Both for ARs and bolt guns, some g don't think i was supposed to see. The quality looks amazing, and the weight of complete uppers and guns are ridiculous My friend is in the process of testing one of them out and I'm waiting to see how it works with running it cold, then rapid fire a full mag, as if running a stage, then trying to get groups out of it at 100. This barrel definitely has my attention for my next build this winter for a major match gun for next season. My new sponsor uses them in his builds but all depends on how well they perform.
  11. I would assume the prize table would be exactly the same, just maybe broken up more to add for the extra shooters. I don't think they would run 2 prize tables for each group depending on what days you shoot. I would think they guys shooting Thursday Friday would just have to wait until Sunday to find out their placement overall and get to walk the tables. I say make the jump, one less competitor in TO for me then
  12. Rob, may I ask what entry number you were? I was 5067 and have no idea if I should be seeing an invoice or not. I did not receive the email that you did but it say "invoice to be sent".
  13. I had that problem. I don't know how many times I requested it before it actually sent me the link.
  14. Do those 9 stages include classifiers or will those be ran as side matches? Also has it filled up already like last year?
  15. Any idea on how many stages there will be? Also does anyone know if the regional series is going to switch to points scoring vs time plus? I only ask because I know you guys be are following their rules for this match.
  16. I made the switch this year from a full size M&P to a custom built 5.5 sight tracker. I had plans to buy a new M&P pro and do all the work to that myself but my friends talked me into having a gun built and im glad they did. For me, the double stack 1911 fits me better, and I have a lot more confidence shooting plates at further distances now and it would seem like I run this gun faster than my M&P. Is it worth the money, sure, would it be worth to invest the money in practice, yes. Im not saying its a bad choice, im glad I bought mine and I will never turn back. But since I had it built before CMMG, I shot the hell out of it before I went to my first match to get used to the gun. It was a completely different animal and took a lot of trigger time to get the feeling and comfort level up to where I knew I would be able to run it at a national level match.
  17. I never had the hang up like that but I would hear the follower hit that area when ever I dropped it in. I ended up going to a RCI extension and never had an issue, since then I have switched back to Nordic with the new MXT tube and coupler and I have not had an issue in thousands of rounds. I have also cleaned up the tube on the receiver just to make sure.
  18. I used to have mine in the PEPR mount, then bought and switch my guns over to Warne skel mounts except for my 22 upper, that one now has the PEPR mount.
  19. Not sure exactly what comp you are talking about but the ones I saw looked like the Taccom adjustable comps along with their buffer system.
  20. First time shooting Rockcastle and blue ridge, all i can say is i will be back next year for sure. Big thanks to all the ROs, there was not one stage that didn't run smooth. As for the F box, as my squad called it on stage 4,i actually enjoyed it. Something different and challenging that you won't see at any other match. That was one of my favorite stages, and ironically my worst, i blame the fog that morning. Again, thanks to all the ROs, Andy for putting on a great match, Rockcastle for letting us use the facility and all the sponsors who never have to put anything on the prize table but always do. Looking forward to next year and seeing some of the great shooters again next season.
  21. Looks interesting and similar to a comp I am running now made by another member on here. I would think with the side ports being closed at the bottom and the holes on the top it will give you a lot of downforce. The one I have has the side ports but does not have any holes and it works very well for my gun.
  22. This was my first time at FNH, and i loved it. I got to need Larry more than once and he is a great guy. First time was for my buddy speedy, second was on our return trip from the hospital when i explained and admitted i was speeding and offered my 10 dollars for my ticket which he did not take given the circumstances. Match staff was amazing, most stages ran perfectly without any issues and every RO was friendly helpful. If this match doesn't run the same weekend as blue Ridge next year you can count on me returning.
