  1. I applied it to the inside on the rails. It seems to be holding up Well, i only have about 100 shells through it since getting it to fit correctly. Rather than fill in the gap, i wanted to pull it closer to the receiver and try to blend it together as much as I could after removing part of my hand on it prior to fitting it flush.
  2. I wish the Pros were for sale out by me. I've come across a couple but they want brand new prices. I might just have to buy a brand new one and go to work on it. Ken, found this on GB, looks like it is being sold by 44mag on there. No reserve but its 10 days until the auction closes. http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=386932615
  3. Umm 18 per 100 is the same as 180 per 1000 and you can get Nosler non seconds for that or better from Midway.pat That is true. After looking around some more, has seconds listed at 74 pee 500 of 77s. With the seconds I loaded, with non ideal powder for heavy bullets, I have yielded excellent groups with a 2.4 MOA dot. Best to date is .4, I did have a 10 shot group at 1.5 with 3 flyers, remove the flyers and she shot 7 in .5. Velocity is a little on the low side due to the powder but it was all I have on hand. I just mentioned the seconds as an option if a deal is there. I am currently waiting for PV to get 69gr seconds back in stock, 124 for 1k of 69s doesn't seem like a bad deal t me if they shoot decent. Don't need match ammo, just something to ring steel at 400-500 yards.
  4. Horrible pics but it should get the point across. I wasn't, and im still not happy with the fit to the receiver. Even after using JB weld to tighten it up and using my heat gun to try and form it better it still is not how i would like it to be, but it works. After thus season I hope to make this a backup gun anyways. In the second pic, you can some what see how my port is opened up. I made more of a tear drop shape on the side of the receiver for my thumb to ride across for loading quads strong hand. That way I dont have to try and keep my thumb at more of a 90 degree angle to the receiver to get the shells past the catch, now my thumb it at about a 30-40 degree angle.
  5. Why yes I did, I trimmed it down so now it looks more like a M2 hand guard. Only problem I had after doing that is it did not fit flush with the receiver and actually took a chunk of my hand. So I got some JB weld and and put it on the inside of the hand guard so it would tighten up against the receiver.
  6. Have you thought about buying seconds from Grafs or PV? I bought some 77s seconds from Grafs for 18 per 100 and I have had no problem shooting sub MOA with the powder i have available, which is not ideal for the heavies.
  7. I did the same to mine, I just didn't do as much or put the grove in.the middle. Might have to go back and do that too. I found, since the JM load port is short, that my shell rims were hitting the trigger guard once I started loading quads. Smoothing out the edge helped. I think now I need to open up the front of the port a little more to really make quads easy.
  8. Thanks for the info guys, ill just try and get some 69 SMKs to load up.
  9. Pat, what velocity are you getting with the 77s? I need to try out some new powders to increase my velocity a little, the 2015 I have moves it a little slow. My local match load is 55 Hornady fmj Range pick up .223 brass CCI SRP 25.7gr of 748 And seated to 2.21 OAL Average velocity of 2870 and I get 1.5" groups or better at 100. I should add my barrel is not a Nordic though, it is a 18" WOA spr 1/8
  10. Has anyone used Privi bullets? I found what I think is a decent deal on 75gr HPBT that I was thinking about buying and trying out for my "match" loads for 3gun. I have some 77s SMKs I've been tooling around with but I have not been able to get them to move at the velocities I would like with the powder I have on hand. Just looking for input from other shooters if they have tried them before
  11. For the guys that have one installed already, are any if you loading quads? I ask because I started to at the end of the season and I was worried if I stuck a larger release on that I might graze it with my hand. I have done it a couple times with the factory setup, maybe i just need to rethink my hand position when loading.
  12. This is one of the matches on my list for my first year of majors, and only 2 weeks after my birthday. Looking forward to meeting some of you guys.
  13. At the PA state rifle match they had a 200 stage. First time I shot 200. First 2 targets were off hand. Then 2 strings of 10 targets. 5 strong 5 weak from 2 different ports. I had a 100 yard zero with my 55s loads. My 77s were not far off at 100 The 5 steel triangles were 6in and the circles were 8in. I held on the target with the bottom of the primary dot and it seemed to work out decent in my favor. If I have time, I am going to set up a calculator for this shoot and aim for a 200 yard zero and see how it works out. I have the Strelok app on my phone and it has our reticle on it which is great because it will show you where to hold.
  14. Hydraulic press Koop. Or an Arbor press, I know you have those at work. I would volunteer to take it in and use our hydro press at work but I wouldn't want to damage it. Doug will get it done though. Should have him lighten the slide as all while its there.
  15. When I contacted them earlier this year they advised I would be looking at 6 to 8 weeks during hunting season. Got mine sent in before the season started and got it back in 9 days. Bill Yeah, I had to send mine in after opening weekend because I went to the PA state rifle match opening weekend. I called Burris when I had some down time at work and the friendly guy on the phone said it shipped out today. Great news for me, just not sure how I got an email earlier today saying min January and called 4 hours later and it was shipped. New replacement is on the way and should be here middle of next week. Gives me enough time to sight it in, they sent a brand new one, and make it to the 200-600 yard fun shoot on the 28th. First time shooting out past 200 so it will give me a change to figure out how the 77s do.
  16. Whats the longest some of you waited to get it back? I sent mine in 3 weeks ago, and I just received an email today after requesting a status update at the start of the week. Well I was told mine should be ready mid January. I am going to call them here in a little bit to see if there is any way to get it back sooner. There is a shoot I want to go to on the 28th to practice shooting out to 600 and a polar match in Feb that I attend.
  17. 2014 will be my second season of 3gun and my first year of majors. This is one of the matches I would like to get into. It would be great to have half a day to spend time with the girlfriend after or before shooting doing what she would like to. Let's hope I am lucky enough to get in along with sole of my other Michigan buddies.
  18. If it is not permitted, its because of the velocities. I'm not good at math, but I believe a high velocity 55s grain.bullet will do more damage than a 150 grain bullet traveling at much slower velocities. That being said, marches here in MI only care about steel core ammo because those burn right through the steel no problem. The clubs do have specific distances they place the steel at to minimize the damage done to them.
  19. I'm looking forward to building one soon for 3gun practice. Everything will be theirs except the upper, that is a spare I have laying around. I have heard nothing but good things about Taccom and already have some of their other gear that I love.
  20. Dang, missed the cut off by 2 seconds. if only I hadn't missed a couple targets.
  21. Just curious.. what is that? G.S. Custom swager. You remove the primer system and bar and install this guy which goes up through the shell plate. You use it like you would do seating a primer except it removes the crimp. Just one less thing I have to do off the press since I don't have a 1050.
  22. Doing everything on a 550. I'll tumble to remove dirt for an hour or so Lube, resize Wet tumble then inspect cases Trim, swage debur and chamfer Tumble again to remove shavings Load with a universal decapper die in station 1 to make sure the flash hole is clear and lee dead seater die in station 3. I use a separate tool head for resizing, eventually I will buy the Dillon trimmer for this tool head as well, and the swagger bar for the 550 to speed up the process. I'll then only have to chamfer and debur off of the press. Size, swage, and trim will all be done at the same time on the press.
  23. CJW, too bad I didn't know you were at the match, I would've liked to ask you about the scope and look through it. After reading this thread it is very tempting to buy the 1x4 to use on my 22 build I am working on.
  24. Great match and perfect weather. Really enjoyed the weak hand shooting, that's something I never enough thought to practice before and was my first time doing it. It was well worth the 9 hour trip.
