  1. Problem solved, thanks everyone. All it took was about a 1/8 turn of both clutch bolts. Now, I can dump in around 450 cases and it works fine. Don't know how many more I can put in, but I don't care about that. The bin I use to spray lube on my cases holds about 400-450 cases in a single layer. Makes it easy to spray and roll them around to get coated, then after a minute or two I can dump them into the case feeder to start processing. I wanted to be able to dump the whole bin in and not have to break it up into smaller amounts. This basically equates to one "session" for me. Then my arm gets a bit tired and I can take a break while getting the next batch ready.
  2. Nice, now I don’t have to worry about you trying to come get some of mine…
  3. Can’t help it. It’s what we do…

    Carver vs thug plug

Aircooled6racer, is the Carver plug carry optics legal?
  5. Ah, a beginner eh?? Thanks, I think I will probably count out the amount I “think” is around 300 cases just to see how many it really is. The Dillon manual says to fill it up to halfway. I only put in half that much at most.
  6. I guess I’ll have to pull out the manual and figure out how to do that.
  7. I’m not really sure how to tell. It seems like everything just comes to a stop. I can manually “help” the feeder plate along, but it won’t go on its own. It just seems like the motor isn’t strong enough to spin the plate with more than 300 cases in the bin.
  8. I have a pretty new RL-1100 with a variable speed case feeder. If I put more than 300 or so 9mm cases in it the case feed plate bogs down and won’t spin. If I remove some cases to get it down around 250 it starts to work fine. I really thought I’d be able to dump 500+ cases in it, but that is NOT happening! Is this normal? How many 9mm cases are you able to dump into your case feeder and have it function correctly? Thanks, Cuz.
  9. I used it in 40 many years ago. I just got one last month in 9mm and processed some cases with it. When I went to load them I think it was causing my powder measure to stick and I didn’t like that. I don’t know for sure it was the U die, but I removed it from my processing toolhead and don’t use it anymore, for now.
  10. Generally speaking, when I chrono my ammo, with the projectiles and powder being relatively equal, coated Bullets are fastest, then plated, then jacketed.
  11. Ya know, I appreciate when these questions come up and are discussed in a civilized manner. It gives me an opportunity to recalibrate myself from what I thought would be a DQ to what I now know isn’t. And it caused me to review the USPSA rules to verify the info BEFORE I went and ruined someone’s day in a match. I know the question was originally in regard to Steel Challenge, which I don’t participate in, but it was a valuable discussion for me just the same. Thank you.
  12. Why would you need to do any of that? Just add the extra decapper on one of the last 3 stages. I’m pretty sure it was mentioned in another thread that one of them has a hole where the rare primer would fall through. I have an RL1100, and my processing toolhead (9mm) starts with the FW Arms popper decapper, then staging, then, on the other side in 6 and 7 I have a Lee and Dillon sizing/decapping dies, just to make sure. By all means, correct me if I’m wrong, but if the first decapper missed a primer, the swagger would still stage the case (and crush the spent primer), but then the other decapping die pops it out. I’ve only processed about 7,500 cases with this process, and the popper decapper hasn’t missed yet, so I can’t confirm this. But next time I swap toolheads to process, I’ll start a case or two in the swage location and see what happens.
  13. ZZT, thanks for this great explanation. I was having a hard time rationalizing how an AD wouldn’t be a DQ for unsafe gun handling, and now I understand. Appreciate it.
  14. I’m sorry, it’s my fault. Back when everyone was out of stock, and either not taking any back orders or limiting you to one case, I discovered that Bayou would let you back order as many as you wanted to pay up front for. Well, I may have been a bit overzealous in my ordering. And, I may have had a couple of friends order some for me when I reached the limit on my credit cards. Sorry, I’m sure they’ll get caught up soon enough.
  15. Problem solved, USPSA not involved, it’s win/win.
  16. This sounds like the correct answer, especially since the shooter is a liability to the club. It has nothing to do with USPSA, or the type of match it is. Bring the matter to the Board that runs the range.
  17. I don’t know much about steel challenge, but it sort of sounds like a very bad miss. Wouldn’t it be the same thing if he was transitioning from one target to the next and shot early and the round went between the two targets?
  18. Johnny, Johnny, Johnny, ”stay away from the add on goodies”??? How can you possibly not “accessorize” a new toy after you get it? I know I can’t. What the heck do you think I do between the time I place an order and the item arrives at my door? I seek out just about every possible accessory/gizmo/dohicky/etc that I can find and try to decide whether or not I “need” it. I just can’t help myself, and I have boxes and boxes of these “upgrades” that ended being a waste of time, but I still haven’t learned my lesson. You should see my holster and gun parts boxes! They are overflowing. I admit most add-on goodies are unnecessary, but some are downright worth their weight in gold. After all, isn’t the Mr. Bullet Feeder an add-on accessory? All kidding aside, I do get, and agree with your point. I can’t recall how loose the shell plate was in the pic, but I do know that I discovered I wasn’t tightening it enough and after that mess was cleaned up I did tighten it up so there was almost no up/down flex. I did install the zip ties, because I had them, and I just couldn’t help myself. It was either that or I would have ordered the Arredondo shell stabilizer, so they saved me $20 for now. I loaded about 400 rounds last night at a much slower pace (approx 20/min) and there was virtually no spillage at all, maybe a total of 4 powder flakes total. So, it was probably a combo of the loose shell plate and yanking the handle too fast. I’ll continue to observe and see how it goes.
  19. That’s an interesting tip, I may give it a try. Let us know how the spill stop kit works out for you. I’m going to try the zip tie method first before exploring other options.
  20. Thanks for the update, I appreciate it. Now everyone is going to want one for their PC Carbine…
  21. Gotcha, so at 35/min your load rate would be about 2100/hour, but with the necessary pauses, your throughput is about 900 rounds per hour. I need to stop keeping track of this s#!t. When I start the timer, I naturally go into “competition mode” and try to beat the previous time.
  22. Actually, it was closer to 100 rounds in 2.75 minutes. Well under 3 minutes and WAY too fast. My new plan is to slow down and try to mimic the stroke of the auto drives and add in some dwell time and smooth things out. Yanking the handle like I was back on my RL550 is NOT the way to go…
