  1. I have Arrendondo bar with the micrometer but I would stop short of saying the powder bar itself is any more accurate at three grains of TiteGroup than the Dillon powder bar with the micrometer. With that said here's some data from earlier this year working up a Titegroup load using the Arrendondo powder bar. Standard Deviations were pretty good at 3.0 grains. Again, I would "assume" the Dillon powder bar would drop three grains just as accurately but I have no data to support my assumption. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Powder Valley just received a "decent" shipment of Vihtavuori. They will be updating the website in an hour or two.. If you're looking for VV N320 (or any other Vihtavuori powders) be at your computer a 11am CDT (or earlier).
  3. Most coatings are a High Tech, High Temperature coating. Examples of this coating include Bayou Bullets and SNS Casting. Some bullets are Poly Coated which from my understanding is similar to powder coating. An example of a Poly coated bullet is The Blue Bullets company. I've had great results with all of the above. I have guns that have tens of thousands of rounds through them that have never seen a FMJ bullet beyond the one the factory used to test them with. Low smoke, clean loading, clean barrels, great accuracy and easy on the pocket book.
  4. Yeah, I tried that twelve pack of beer method.... I managed to turn a five gallon bucket of "mixed" brass into five one-gallon buckets of "mixed" brass Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Starline 9mm and 9mm +P brass is the same thing, there's absolutely no difference been regular 9mm and +P 9mm brass when it comes to Starline. When I used the Dillon bullet seater die with MG JHP's, I had better luck with the flat side (vs. the rounded) of the bullet seater. Make sure your EGW case gauge is very tight to begin with so make sure it's absolutely clean and free of debris. 6. If we're talking about the 650, I've also found that the position of the "wavy" washer (the washer that applies the spring force) can affect operation. Rotating this washer to apply spring force directly to the primer advance arm helps. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Assuming you don't have 3-phase power, which phase converter are you using?

When you're ready to pay it forward, I'll forward you my address to deliver that Cheely open gun to
  9. Hodgdon's primary market is hand loaders so any commercial orders backlog would be to companies that sell to us. This differs from other powder manufacturers whose primary customers are commercial ammunition manufacturers. The idea that we're seeing Clays shortly after the line is back up and running is confirmation of the "responses above".
  10. HS-6 in 8lb jugs has been in stock all evening at Powder Valley. I just verified and it's still good to go. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Dillon Part # 13688 - Adapter Funnel I can tell you that the case feeder was updated some time before 2007 but I suppose if you have the old style case feeder you may still need an Adapter Funnel.
  12. The problem with Ammoload is how it fails... the case splits at the bullet shelf. The rear of the case ejects but it will leave a brass sleeve firmly lodged in your chamber. Not particularly dangerous but this failure will ruin a match. I've only heard of this issue on 9 major loads. If you're having good results, load them up but if you ever have one fail in this manner, your going to have fun scraping the other half of the case out of your chamber. Another issue with Ammoload (also IMT, FM) brass is when you're loading with a Dillon 1050 and swaging. Basically the swage backup rod doesn't fit and jams. In a worst case scenario you don't notice it an it over swages the primer pocket... In these cases the primer just falls out of the case. Again, I have no problem with Ammoload cases but I'm careful to relegate them to minor 9mm loads just in case. On the other hand I do like Winchester brass. Luckily I've never had one "blow up" on me or I suppose my opinion would change. Here's a pic of failed Ammoload case:
  13. I wear a 33 or 34 inch waist in Levi's Jeans. I have a 38" DAA Belt. I could easily wear a 40" DAA belt. I would suggest 38".
  14. I forgot about those. I toss those in the scrap bucket too. What brass does Freedom Munitions use? If I'm wrong, let me know, but I don't think I've seen a better deal on loaded ammo than they offer. Freedom Munitions uses a lot of Ammoload brass. Okay for minor loads but the bullet shelf in these cases reduces interior case volume and can cause problems when loaded to major power factor. Ammoload type cases are also found with the headstamps FM and IMT. Many guys toss these headstamps on sight but I use them for minor loads of practice ammo.
  15. Dillon really needs to update their website. If you download the 650 user manual from Dillon you still get an older version which talks about the Casefeed Funnel Adapter. The newest manual makes no mention of this part.
  16. Is this is the part you're talking about? If so, the new case feeders don't require them.
  17. Older 650's had the funnel adapters but I'm pretty sure they were phased out years ago. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Just wait until you add the rest of the Mr. Bulletfeeder... Each bullet drops into the case mouth with same force. The combination of the modified funnel and the Mr. Bulletfeeder dropper create VERY consistent bullet placement each and every time. Consistent bullet placement creates consistent ammo. I owned the MBF funnel for about a year before I added the feeder. The MBF funnel is ideal for protecting coated bullets while loading. In fact, when I upgraded to the full bullet feeder I left my powder funnel set up and sold the new powder funnel to HOGRIDER. Excellent write up by the way!
  19. Wow... Flat, pierced primer and you can literally see the ramp of the barrel on the side of the case. Judging from the lack of relief in the headstamp printing, it almost looks like the head of the case is flattened too. I'm thinking this is about as bad as it gets before you have a blow out.
  20. Yeah, I figured as much. The build quality of both belts seems to be about the same but I suppose I just got a lucky draw on my CR belts. I should quantify that I have two kids that also shoot USPSA so I've ended up with a few of each brand of belt. I have one DAA belt that had some pretty bad stitching on it and lost quite a bit of Velcro in the first few weeks. Again, not a big enough deal to complain about. My latest belt is a CR speed belt. The reason I went with CR Belt is that I grabbed a certificate for a free one off of a prize table at a match. Free belts are definitely the best kind of belts
  21. The DAA uses a soft inner belt and a stiff outer belt. The CR Speed does the opposite. Really still inner belt and a less still outer. The rigidity of the system comes from the outer belt when your gun and mags are mounted. I have both the DAA and the CR belts. Both use the soft/flexible inner belt and a rigid/stiff outer belt. The inner belts are about the same but the DAA outer belt is a "tiny" bit stiffer than the CR speed outer belt. Either is fine, but I've also found that my CR belts have held up a bit better than my DAA belts over time... It seems there's a bit more quality in the stitching of the CR belt. With that said, I have no preference between the two belts... they're about the same.
  22. Winchester White Box. Close second would be Federal.
  23. The only good thing to come out of the last bullet shortage was that I discovered the virtues of coated bullets. I switched to Bayou Bullets when Zero's, Precision and Montana Gold went to "unicorn" status and I couldn't be happier! Zero's appear to still be in the unicorn status as all 147's are sold out. I'm currently working up some loads for a new open gun and didn't even bother to check Roze Distribution when looking for bullets... I suppose Montana Gold is glad to see me ordering again but Zero is all but off my list of reasonable sources of bullets at this point.
