  1. 296/110 on 240gr JHP for Hunting and ww231 on a LRN for plinking. One thing I realized is to get the lighter charge I had to switch charging bars on my Dillon powder drop, to be able to get low enough.
  2. I've been running a Gen 1 with a gen 1 Holosight since the early 2000s. It's hard to decide to throw into the safe and get a new open gun for steel challenge or try to upgrade this one.
  3. Autocomp and 3N37. I tried running 3N38 but it felt harsh and seemed to give timing issues. Another guy from the club suggested switching to 3N37 and I never looked back, going on six years now. Different gun I've been running 124gb Bayous with AutoComp for quite a while now as well. Interesting enough, when talking about cracking slides, I actually sheared the locking lugs off a KKM Glock barrel about a year ago.
  4. Cmore used to have a repair service. $25/device to replace the switch, but that was a long time ago. I think I sent them 4 at one time once.
  5. I'm having a hard time finding someone in timely fashion to change out my frame mount. I finally ran out of spare parts for my holosight on my Casipan and need to change mounts. I only run for steel anymore so I figured it would be an easy change out and potentially reuse the existing holes.
  6. I had problems with fitting the Winchester brass into the TKcustoms moonclips. The gap was pretty tight, and the brass would not spin freely once inserted.
  7. I typically use the Wolff main spring for all my revolvers. Instead of shimming the screw, I visited a local S&W gunsmith and picked up different length set screws to use. This way everything stays tight.
  8. That's not a problem. Once the ports are gone and setup as a traditional comp gun, we can switch to Autocomp or similar. The problem is replacing a Schuemann barrel or the whole upper. I've having a hard time finding a local smith to do the fitting for me.
  9. 3N37 and 3N38 have worked best in my hybrid (comp and 4 ports) 38SC, you need a lot of gas! But it's loud! To the point, ROs that know me ask what gun I'm running and will hand the timer off to someone else. I'm currently trying to figure out if I can rebarrel it to 9mm comp only.
  10. I run the 3 port carver on my G34 and 11 port SJC on a G17, with the same load around 150pf you can tell that the SJC is working better.
  11. To copy ColoBolo I'm very similar with Autocomp with the same bullet. 5.6gr on a 124gr bullet for a 151pf with my setup.
  12. I run a razor on mine and I just took the sights completely off. They were a distraction. Especially since you would need crazy tall sights to make it work.
  13. Only thing I don't like about the razor is the battery tray can come loose and slide slightly out and lose contact.
  14. I run a Razor on mine. I've the sights are a distraction and will be coming off soon.
  15. That's exactly what I was looking for, for my cut down slide. Already drilled and tapped and looking for something to fit, 1/2" on center holes.
  16. Are the only aftermarket followers, for Para, made by Arredondo? I have them in my P16-40 and they state they fit both.
  17. Ok back to question #2. All 4 of the factory tubes are Gen#1 which are the shorter versions. So they will not work with a magwell and base pads. Part 2, two of the mags have .40 followers in them and don't feed 100%. So it looks like I'll need an STI mag kit and a few new, longer, Para mags and just reuse the dawson basepads.
  18. Looks just like my STI for Para mags. You need to use an STI follower or are you using a Para follower? I use Grams followers in my STI for Para tubes. Works fine... Thanks, I used those in the mags with my past gun. I'll take a look.
  19. Looks just like my STI for Para mags. You need to use an STI follower or are you using a Para follower? I only have a naked tube, I tried my para follower and it doesn't fit. So I should I try an STI rebuild kit? Also this brings up a parallel question. I received four Para mags with the P18 I purchased, 2 were labeled together as 'works well' and the other two as 'don't work possible wrong followers, use as parts' but all had dawson basepads. Should I test to see if those followers work in this tube before I purchase something?
  20. Also totally different than my P16_40 mags.
  21. The feed lips are the same and hold 9mm well. Odd angle on the photo. Also the factory follower does not fit due to how the 2 lines run the length of the mag and jam it, where the tube narrows.
  22. I received an extra mag tube with a P18 I purchased a number of years ago. I've since sold that gun and now purchased another one. By looking at the feed lips and the cuts on the top of this tube it doesn't look like a Para cut. (I was told this was a STI for Para) but it locks up great in my frame. In one pic you'll see this tube next to a factory P18 to compare the cuts and angles. In the it's a top view comparing their shape. The ss tube is more rounded at the front vs. squared and blocky of the para tube. (optical illusion, both mags are the same width and length) Thank you for the help
  23. I'm in the same exact spot as Vash, Sitting at desk all day and TV/PC at night. I hit my all time heaviest this past winter. Even with downhill skiing with my kids 4-6 hours a week my eating and other habits were really bad. I'm 5'9" peaked out at 278. My wife and I started using LoseIt on March 3rd and in that time I've lost almost 20 lbs and now got back to what was my average carry weight over the past year. I've been a HUGE Mtn Dew drinker and fast food eater for many years. And figured I didn't have time or want to exercise. Here's the personal goals I hit since we've started this new journey. 1. After two weeks I couldn't drink sugared sodas and energy drinks. After 4 total weeks I'm pretty much completely diet soda and sugar free energy drink free. I'm not completely cold turkey as I'm doing water and MIO or other powdered drinks. I've worked on packing both a breakfast and lunch for work and eat in 4 of 5 days a week. This has allowed me to start slowly working out in the campus fitness center doing stretching and treadmill work. Evenings after dinner I started working out with my wife's zumba videos which have helped greatly doing 15 min at a time and working my way currently up to 30 min. This has helped greatly with cardo endurance and core building.
  24. I was browsing a local shop and noticed they had a STI 2011 frame kit sitting in the display. So now that I saw it I have a number of question. Are you able to order these online anymore? What's a normal range you'd expect to pay of this as the base for a custom gun build? Besides trigger what other frame parts are different between a 2011 and 1911 frames? Thank you for the help.
  25. I love my P16-40 Limited. I was hoping to find a P18 sometime, but they seem hard to find.
