  1. I was thinking of something similar, except the glock conversion piece that allows you to install an AR receiver extension and stock. Sure you pay the $200, but then you have something that might be pretty useful on tighter stages. Especially when taking shots with aggressive leans it might actually be an advantage over the AR style PCC guns. Add a frame mounted dot and a comp and see what happens.
  2. As far as shooting through a blowback rifle, I have used Clays and 124-125 grain bullets. I don't have an evo, but I have an 9mm AR that I put my omega 9k on. I can't remember my exact charge weight so I won't guess, but I know it was right in the middle of the Hodgdon data online. It barely cycles in my pistols, but in the 9mm AR it is silly quiet and recoils like a .22. Very much a sub-minor load, but it's a lot of fun. I took one of my younger brothers to the range on Saturday, and the 9mm AR with that ammo was his favorite gun to shoot by far, especially at steel.
  3. I already am set up with a colt lower from QC10 that has worked very well. I have 10 mags, and two of them have TF +10 basepads. I haven't spent the money on a mag splice yet. I think the MEAN arms conversion is very interesting, especially with having a standard AR lower with a tax stamp. Based on the commercial success I could see them making conversions for the 40 round pmags in the future which would make it more viable for PCC.
  4. Also, every binary trigger I have seen has a standard trigger pull on the 'fire' position, and you have to rotate the safety selector 180 degrees to what would be a burst or auto position to activate the binary trigger. If they really are trying to circumvent the rules, then make sure you try to rotate the selector all the way with hammer back. I will add that there are ways to fire a pcc that fast with a standard trigger, so keep that in mind as well.
  5. Not on your list but I have a QC10 lower that I have been very happy with. One benefit is they have a linkage between the follower and the bolt catch so you don't have to use the proprietary Colt bolt catch with the longer arm to engage the mag follower, you can drop in any aftermarket bolt catch and it should work. I also like the integrated mag well, and reliability with mine has been exceptional. I think you are looking at 200+ for the stripped lower, but I'm sure you could shop around, especially on black friday, and find a deal.
  6. I was going to ask the same question. Maybe you could run each pistol on a different day? It would take longer, but might be a bit more accurate. I did a bit of an experiment about 6 months ago when I got about 6 different guns in different sizes, one with a dot, etc. and ran each through a series of static drills to compare the times/accuracy. I would take one out every week and shoot the same drills in the same order and record all the times.
  7. You can also download a podcast app (I use podcast republic, but I'm sure there are many other good ones) that allows you to download episodes in advance. That's what I do, and it really cuts down on data that I use while driving.
  8. Hopefully this is in the appropriate place. Quick background: I manage an indoor gun range and have been running a weekly mini match (unaffiliated with USPSA rules and scoring) for about 3 years (coming up to 150 matches total!). We used to be able to go downrange, but that is no longer possible. Now we can move behind the individual shooting booths, but movement up/down range is out of the story. I also have a very tight budget. I have been looking at different equipment to make the match more interesting and fresh, especially for those who are here every week. I have some static steel with tires around them to catch the spalling, and a few newbold targets, 4 walls, and about 15 target stands. I usually set up one more 'field-ish' course first, then finish up with 2 more standard-like stages. I am looking at getting a pressure plate activator, a swinger, drop turner, and possible a plate rack and rigging up a shield around it to catch spall (we have a fire suppression system downrange that will dump water if hit). I have looked at MGM and Action Target, as well as a few smaller places online. I could also build some of the simpler things (like the pressure plate activator). What have your clubs done in the past for getting equipment like this? Any recommended places to buy from? Any discounts from these places for a club, even if not affiliated? Any other advice when buying/making props? Thanks all in advance. -Nate
  9. Yeah, I see that now you are using a standard lower, reading comprehension fail on my part. Sounds like a cool project though, looking forward to seeing how it ends up! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G530AZ using Tapatalk
  10. It looks like you are using colt mags. I have the QC10 lower that I am just finishing up. Any tips/tricks specific to the colt lowers and mags you know? Best mags to buy? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G530AZ using Tapatalk
  11. Check out the Triangle Tactical podcast/website. I believe he has a match calendar for the area, and he would be a great person to reach out to for more specifics. Great show and Lucas seems like a solid dude. I would shoot with him if I lived in the area.
  12. Wow! At that point isn't the time savings of a 1050 justified? I know to each their own, but at that volume I would have gone 1050 a LONG time ago!
  13. I have directed a weekly Wednesday evening unaffiliated match for about 3 years at the indoor range I work at. I also design and set up the stages. I find that it does have an impact on your match performance. Any dispute or question that isn't resolved will make its way to you, and that is effort you are spending on running the match instead of focusing on your own shooting performance. As a match director I believe you get a bit of satisfaction helping things run smoothly. Also, if you set up stages, depending on when you are able to set up, you can finish in enough time that you can do the walk-through with everyone else. At our club the bays for USPSA are almost always available the week beforehand for set-up, so many people will set a stage up during the week.
  14. I almost always download by one round, for the exact same reason. I had an unloaded table start where I dumped a full mag on the ground after not hitting it quite hard enough.
  15. It's trust and individual filings.
  16. Well, they do work, they just give you a bit of a surprise about 3-6 rounds into the stage I have a method to ULSC just like I do when I make ready. I do it the exact same way every time so I hopefully never have a DQ like this. Good on you for staying and helping, I'm sure it was greatly appreciated. I put the mag in my back pocket, then eject the round, watch it drop, and finally inspect the chamber myself.
  17. I like trying different weights until you find one that balances your particular gun. I tend to like heavier options like the ACS from Magpul, or the Vltor stocks.
  18. I have the QC10, and a friend has the Kaw Valley. We tested with some primed cases and feeler gauges and found the some bolts were allowing out of battery detonations, and the Kaw Valley was one that did not and is also pretty affordable. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G530AZ using Tapatalk
  19. The vacuum is noisy, but if you are going at a decent pace, you can get 1k plus done in a hour. I put on my peltor hearing protection with a 3.5mm plug-in and listen to podcasts. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G530AZ using Tapatalk
  20. https://taccom3g.com/product/colt-magazine-coupler/ My buddy has one for Glock mags for his PCC. It works well for him.
  21. Without seeing it in person this is just another suggestion. When you start lightening up the recirpcating mass, and adjusting the gas down to just enough to operate the gun, variables that normally do not impact function can start to play a part. A light bolt/buffer and less gas is more susceptible to short-storking due to a slightly under-pressure round, or even due to build up of carbon, powder, etc. that normally isn't a problem. I have a few friends with pretty high-speed 3 gun rifles, and they lube and clean much more frequently than I ever do with a more standard AR. Not a sure answer, but another thing to look at/consider.
  22. If I drop an empty mag in USPSA, either I messed up, or ran with a risker stage plan than I normally do. If you watch most production shooters on a longer field course, I would expect 2-4 partial mags on the ground by the end.
  23. Have you ever tried the TACCOM coupler? If so, which do you prefer and why?
  24. Very cool! The guy I buy coated bullets from has a legit auto sizing machine, but I could never justify that sort of money. This looks to be plenty fast for me, and much cheaper. Just another excuse to jump in and get a MBF for the 650.
  25. I am not familiar with the 1050 conversion parts, but I know that many of the parts on the 650 are the same. It may be cheaper to buy individual parts. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G530AZ using Tapatalk
