  3. I met with my tax guy--according to him, I can't claim a loss. Please, if anyone is any the wiser, I'm all ears.
  4. Good point. I guess I should just thank my lucky stars that we found a buyer. There are a lot of people that haven't been so fortunate. The alternative would be to wait, and I don't like that prospect.
  5. I moved to Iowa last June, and my house in Michigan has been on the market for almost a year. After a year, my wife and I finally had an offer on our house. . that was the only good news. We had originally listed the house @94,500. After months of no takers, we dropped the price to 85,900. The offer came in at 78,000, but here is the kicker--the buyer wants us to give them the down payment and cover their closing costs. We countered at 82,900, and their response was take it or leave it. With the 3% down payment we're giving the buyer, and closing costs, and realtor fees, plus the difference in what we actually owe on the house, and with the loan we had to take out to replace the furnace, etc., we're taking a $16,000 loss just to get rid of the house. We got Sagnastied one last time. There goes the money I was planning to build my new shop!!!
  6. Ryan, I've only been down there a couple of times. I really like the range and guys at Milan. I'm sure we'll cross paths one of these days. I'm sure that stung a little when the results were posted!! I don't like to lose, but with equal equipment, if I lose to someone that just had a phenomenal day, I can sort of handle it. But if I were shooting OPEN class, and some guy showed up with 8 round mags and his IDPA gear........OUCH man!!!

  8. Apparently I have. my apologies..... http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?...hrome&st=25
  9. Yes!!!! You started it!!!!! It's on now....... Well, actually....I was going to tease you a little when you posted about hard chrome causing sterility (or something along those lines) and you have three kids that maybe, just maybe, it's possible that you were right about the hard chrome part and not so right about the kids being yours part. But since we don't know each other very well, I decided not to. Truce???
  10. I'm not an expert on NWA policy (neither are they). But I remember the last time I checked the 'rules' regarding the sizes of luggage, that 62 inch number isn't the length. It is the height + width + length. I guess if they will only let you check one back, their lost luggage claims will go down by 50%. By the way, I hate Northwest Airlines. If you can find another flight, I say screw those f%^ing a-holes.
  11. Doesn't this belong in the training area?? NO!! It belongs here. Only the opinions of the Single Stack Elite matter.
  12. mr1911, I believe the firing pin stop is fine. It is not any tighter or looser than my other 1911's. I think I read somewhere that what you're referring to is clocking? I think I read about that on the Brazos 'tips and tricks' website. JT, when I get it fixed, I'll post an update.
  13. Good thought JT. I'm running a 16# recoil spring and 165-170 PF ammo. Also, the same load works find in my other two 1911's.
  14. I didn't buy the gun here. If I had, this conversation would have started in private with the guy that sold it to me. Seriously though, I appreciate all the help. I think the smartest thing I can do at this time is replace the ejector.
  15. At the time, I was still waiting on my 60 X 359 cutter. I can't get on the mill until next week. I'm going to finish the bomar a week from tonight and begin the slide cuts.
  16. Thanks everyone for the help. I don't think the ejector is broken. The pictures didn't turn out that great. However, I am thinking the ejector is too short. EricW, I'm sure your'e idea would work great, but I have enough problems with OCD- that would mess with my head way too much. You'd have to know me better to fully grasp my borderline debilitating need to check things. I would constantly be worried that I had the 'wrong' mags for my gun. Ultimately, it would hurt my confidence level when I stepped up to the line. cking, extraction is ok. Ejection appears to be the culprit at this point. PS-- How come pictures keep disappearing? Is it the new server change going on??
  17. I bought a used 1911 off of the internet, and I've been having problems with it ever since. I have had a problem with rounds failing to eject. Tonight, I tested and adjusted the tension on my extractor using the Weigand tensionioning tool and tension gauge: http://www.brownells.com/aspx/NS/store/Pro...NSIONING%20TOOL http://www.brownells.com/aspx/NS/store/Pro...N%20GAUGE%20SET The tension was quite low on my extractor @ 12 ounces of pull using their gauge. I bent the extractor until I had 23 ounces and stopped because it felt really tight. In fact, it was a lot tighter than any of my other extractors that I've never had a probelm with. I am not sure if this is really an extractor problem or a problem with my ejector. I looked up the specs in the Kuhnhausen maunual, and the length of my ejector is within 25 thousandths. As I've never tuned an ejector, I'm wondering if the angles on the ejector are right (Hopefully the pictures will show these angles). Also, with a loaded magazine, I'm noticing a small amount of contact between the magazine lip and ejector. Could this be the cause of my problem? Oh yeah, one more thing, I've noticed that I'm having this malfunction much more frequently when there is only one round left in the magazine. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
  18. I started building a bench tonight for my new vise and buffer.
  19. Mark, ADM, right here in Clinton, Iowa, is making plastic out of corn. It smells wonderful!!!
  20. I hadn't planned to solder the sight on. Is that what you guys do? What is the advantage? I'm planning to fit the slide to frame soon. I have the lapping compounds from Brownells- Al Oxide 80 and 60 grit I believe. I'm waiting on the lapping tool. I'm also waiting on my new vise. I'm building the bench for it today. I think I'm going to get rid of the gold cup trigger and start with something a little smaller. Thanks want2race for posting that picture. Thanks Darren.
  21. I'm working some crazy hours next week so I won't be able to make it to the machine shop to do any work on my build. If I have time, I'm going to do what I can at home. I did some polishing on the flats and Bomar cut. I took some pictures of the gold cup trigger next to the frame. I didn't realize how much bigger the gold cup trigger is. I'm going to have to rethink this one. It might be a good idea to get the smaller one and go from there. I bought a Wilson Combat magazine release. It dropped right in and is sloppy use- which is unacceptable for me. It will be headed back to Brownells very soon. Since this is my first build, I thought it would be interesting to see just how tight the slide to frame fit is right now. I'm sure there are people like me out there that haven't seen this before. Needless to say, the slide won't even start on the frame. Lastly, I've had it with the swensons. I think they are crap. They are for sale. I did receive a PM, and I'll give that individual until the end of the weekend to decide whether or not he wants them. Otherwise, I'm going to dump them to whoever wants them- for a reasonable price of course.
