Please teach me how to control what kids think. I'm all ears..... Who said anything about having to go outside the home to find a role model?

    Barry Bonds

He's a role model for our kids. I care....
  3. Manny is a great guy to do business with. I highly recommend him.
  4. Dear 1911 Elitist Snob Club New Member Nomination Committee Chairman: I humbly submit my application to your exclusive club. Attached below you will find pictures of the finest 1911's on the planet. Since I exclusively compete in the Single Stack Division and CDP, I believe I will make a great snob. I anxiously await your decision.
  5. Supershooter couldn't have said it any better. It's great to bring your best shoes, but don't forget to pack a pair of shorts, your winter coat, mud boots, an umbrella, etc. The weather at PASA park is unpredictable in April.
  6. I'm telling you guys.....Merlin is the boogey man.
  7. I'm afraid I'll open my gun safe and discover that my wife has transferred all my guns to you. You just might be the boogey man!!
  8. JZ, unless you have a family history of colon cancer, 38 yo is too early. Everyone should have a screening colonscopy at age 50. I believe Chuck Bradley is referring to virtual colonosocpy, and I agree with Kimel- if a polyp is found, someone will still have to go in after it. Edited to add: There are some exceptions. JZ, send me a PM if you still have concerns.
  9. NO! It's just the opposite. I do the scopes so I can pay for the mill.
  10. When I was in school a number of years ago, I remember hearing a story about a guy that had a head injury with subsequent amnesia. He couldn't remember the names of his wife or kids. But he was able to remember the name of his dog.
  11. The book is called Machine Tool Practices. The Author is Kibbe. http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_gw/002-0...+tool+practices (second book down on the list). I'm not sure I would recommend the book to anyone. I'm sure the guys here know which books are good and hopefully they'll chime in. There is a DVD course you can rent from smartflix.com. It's put out by AGI and the machinist is Darrel Holland. I'm at work now, but if you're interested, I can get the information to you. I am planning to rent it. But since it's something like 14 hours long, I just haven't had time to devote to it. I have heard good things about it though.
  12. Matt, have you seen the Leeson sander? It takes sanding belts made by Dupont and looks like a serpentine belt on a car. I saw one in a guys shop and it did a really nice job at finishing metal.
  13. You FXXckers are a bad influence on me!!! But then again, I've never had friends that weren't. Aircooled6racer, I'll do some research into that "M" head. Doctor Doctor, The call schedule just came out. I've got ten days of vacation coming, and I can't wait- this trip is going to be AWESOME!! I'll be in town the 15th. If Gary is having a match, I'll be there- unless I can't get out of here on friday. I need to get in some trigger time before S&W.
  14. I hope this thread prevents some future threads in the "last shot fired" forum.
  15. I like how you guys think! Maybe I should just go buy some land, build something a lot bigger and make sure my wife has no idea where it is. All she needs to know is my cell phone # (only for an emergency).
  16. I just diagnosed another person with colon cancer. If you're 50 or older, do yourself a favor and go get screened. It's not that big of a deal. It's a lot easier to take out a polyp than to treat metastatic colon cancer. For some reason, the stories of what it used to be like in the old days are still lingering. The bowel preps are better. You don't have to drink a gallon of crap anymore. If your kidneys are working ok, you drink two small bottles of fluid, meet your doctor the next morning for happy hour, do some time travel, wake up in recovery, go home, eat a nice meal and take a nap the rest of the day. You might say weird things after the nurse gives you the drugs, but nobody will find out. If you start playing with yourself during the procedure, it doesn't mean you're gay. (I'm just kidding, no one has ever done that). Just go get screened! Send me a PM and I'll tell you exactly what to expect. If you've had a colonoscopy, please feel free to post your experience here.
  17. Thanks Matt. I meant to ask how you wired your Bridgeport. Building a garage is one thing, having 3 phase electricity seems a little over the top. I don't know much about electricity, but for some reason the guy that built the house I currently rent from the bank put in 400 amp service. I should have plenty of power to run a mill. Who in the hell needs 400 amp service?? I've got enough juice here to kill everyone on death row in Texas.
  18. What is Craig's List? I've never heard of it. Is it similar to this: http://www.locatoronline.com/machines/dealerbystate_MI.cfm (this was a link Matt Cheely sent me before I moved out to Iowa). I would love to find a good used Bridgeport Series I with powerfeeds and a DRO. But my first problem is where to put it and how to power it when it gets here. At least I've solved the problem with how to move it. So I've got that going for me.......
  19. Thanks Matt. I remember your post some time ago when you got your Bridgeport. At the time I thought to myself, someday that will be me. My time is coming. As far as space goes, I have been entertaining the idea of having a two car garage built on my property. I just get so sick of my wife telling me to turn the music down, you can't smoke stogies in the house, etc.. I need my own space!!! I've got some ideas that have never been tried before. I'm either going to come up with something really cool or come to the realization that it has been tried and there is a reason we haven't heard about it.
  20. I imagine I could lop off a finger in no time at all. Thanks for all the encouragement. A lot of people think I'm nuts for wanting to do this. I won't be taking any gun parts into the machine shop until I get the OK first. I have a mill project at the end of the course that I may have some input on. I'd like to do some machine work on one of my slides. It's the gun I'm planning to either hardchrome or Ionbond so cutting it up is no big deal. I have found a small Chinese made knee mill that has been in a humidity and temperature controlled shop for the last fifteen years. The guy that owns it is going to retire soon, and he claims that he hasn't used it very much. He builds custom rifles and claims that he primarily uses his lathe. I spent four hours with him in his shop one day so I got the feeling that he wasn't giving me the BS, but I"m not sure about this Chinese made stuff. In the end, I think I'd rather spend a couple thousand extra and get a Bridgeport. What would you guys do?
