  1. I have a Range Officer 1911 so I am familiar with the 1911 platform but as you said there is an adjustment between the two. I only use the RO to shoot paper and I am considerable slower with it than the 35 when shooting pins. I find it more difficult to find the dot as compared the the 35. Perhaps its the grip angle difference between them?
  2. Hmmm, please elaborate as to why I would be slower? Perhaps because its heavier and slower to get back on target?
  3. First off I need to explain the intended purpose ... I don't shoot in organized competitions but I do shoot at the club level at bowling pins and heavy 8" steel plates. I ran the G35 last season and it worked great for pins. However, next year we are adding 6 steel plates with bowling pins. We race the clock and man on man eliminations so speed is key. 9's don't have enough oomph to drop the steel efficiently unless you hit them high and center. 45s are just too slow to get mack on target so 40 is my caliber of choice. Maybe I am nuts but I just like 40s.
  4. I have a g35 that I really like but also have a hankering for a 2011. What is the equivalent to it in the 2011 platform? I run a comp on mine but have not seen a comp on a 2011 .40. Seems I only see comps on 38 Supers. Does anyone run a comp on 2011 .40s?
  5. I noticed they dropped the .40 Hi-Cap from their website. Wonder if they are having issues with it? Anyone know?
  6. FWIW, I shoot a G22 and G35, both open guns. I've got 25K rounds through the 22 and 10K through the 35 and have never had a failure on either.
  7. Cut the guy some slack ... he's just trying to share a positive experience. There are lots of Glock trigger options out there and Johhny Glock's is just one of many. I too have tried many of the others as have been mentioned and also JG's. I also had a very positive experience dealing with JG's and his trigger is by far the best that I have ever used in my G35. Add me as another positive supporter of JG's triggers.
  8. 3.5 grains of Bullseye under a 200 grain home cast LSWC shoots ragged single holes for me. I recently installed a comp on my RO and had to bump up the load to 3.8, still extremely accurate.
  9. I've run several 1000 Xtremes through my G35 and they run fine. However, if you are looking for the highest accuracy then 145 grain LSWC is the way to go. Xtremes are no slouches but not as accurate (for me) as lead (through a KKM or LW).
  10. I've found that 3.8 grains of BE under a Lee 200 grain LSWC is the most accurate load for my Springer RO. I just added a Wilson comp to it so I may have to work up a new load in the next few days.
  11. Are you running a comp? This powder was designed for comp'd guns.
  12. I had leading with Allox and with Recluse lube (45/45/10) but some don't so YMMV. I solved my leading problem by going to a slightly larger bullet sized to .4525" and use Mike's 6-6-6-1 lube in a Star lube sizer. My barrel is shiny and clean now.
  13. I shoot a 145 grain Lee cast bullet and the bullet is so short it will only load to a max OAL of 1.100". Sounds like it may not be the best choice for a 2011 pistol? I just like the accuracy and extremely low coefficient of friction of SWC bullets but they can be finicky to feed properly.
  14. I shoot bowling pins with a Glock 35 but am considering adding a 1911/2011 platform as well. I have a Range Officer in 45 but prefer the .40 for some odd reason? Most of the guys are running 9s and a few .45s but they seem to have more mechanical issues?
  15. Just curious if anyone is running .40 S&W LSWC bullets in their 1911 or 2011 pistols? If so, are you having any feeding issues since the round is typically so short (1.080" - 1.100" COAL)? I thought I had read a while back where the .40 cartridge is the least desirable round in the 1911 / 2011 platform.
  16. I thought it was dangerous running LOADED ammo through a tumbler?
  17. I load .380, 9mm, .40 and .45 calibers and always use One Shot as a case lube. I put a couple hundred cases into a Zip Lock, spray case lube in the baggie for 1 second, shake the baggie for a few seconds to coat the cases and then cycle through my 550b. When my catch box is full I place the loaded rounds into Frankford Arsenal ammo boxes, The cases just feel sticky and gummy and it never seems to go away or dry up. Is this just normal for OneShot or should I try a different case lube? If you experience the same problem how do you clean your cases after loading? Its a real pain to wipe each one down afterwards.
  18. I have a slide mounted FF III on my G22 and a FF III on a Carver frame mount on my G35. Both work well but I am faster on the G35. Is it due to the frame mount or other factors? Who knows. Both work well.
  19. Oops, sorry I didn't mean to break any rules guys. I am not a commercial entity nor did I play one on TV
  20. 4.1 TG under 180 Xtreme or BERB, 1.135" OAL in a Glock 35. Very accurate and soft recoil.
  21. Is a pistol caliber carbine accurate enough for 3 gun competitions? If so what do you use?
  22. I have a Lonewolf .40 barrel in my G35. Same here, I have to load it to 1.080" or the boolit gets stuck in the end of the chamber.
  23. I ran a Burris FFIII on a G22 for well over 15K rounds and never had any issues with recoil abuse on the slide or mount. You just Locktite the mount in the dovetail and it will be there until you remove it. I never lost zero either. I have since moved on to Carver frame mounts for my FFIIIs but I don't notice any advantage of speed verses dot reacquisition on either style of mounts. The Carver mounts don't effect brass ejection. The only negative about frame mounts is you are extremely limited to holsters. I run a Carver modified CR Speed holster on my G35 and it works fine.
