Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I had you on the list already and moved you to the M race when you made A so you're good to go. Thanks.
  2. So you mind adding me to the list? Yatzee_Squirrel A78222 - 76.43%
  3. I have two guns that have frame work done by Zev. I havent had any slide work done yet. I almost did but changed my mind at the last minute. As far as the quality of the work done to my guns I am satisfied with how the guns turned out but with that said, I wont be sending another gun to Zev in the future. With both guns I had some issues with how things were handled that bothered me enough that in the future I will be looking to another company for any custom work.
  4. Thanks for the input. I guess since they are free it wouldn't hurt to just go ahead and get the heavy plate.
  5. I recently won a gift certificate for some Xtreme bullets and when I looked at there 180g offerings I see that they have two different flat nose bullets. One is I guess a normal plate and the other is listed as a heavy plate. I was just wondering if anyone had tried both and could see any need to use the heavy plate? I did call and ask about it and was told that either would be fine but I just wanted to see if anyone had any opinions on it. The bullets will be loaded to major and shot through my Glock 35 with a KKM barrel if it matters.
  6. I tried a Zev magwell and had some problems getting it lined up and mounted as well. Once I did get it on the gun I did not really like it at all so I ended up putting on a Dawson and have been very happy with it since.
  7. Same for me. Just wish they offered the heavy plug for it like they do for the gen 3.
  8. Thanks for the info. I was trying to find some lengths that other people had been using and something that would run through the magazine without hanging up and I figured it would be better to start a little long to try and keep the pressure in check before working up to major.
  9. Yesterday afternoon my Dillon taper crimp die showed up in the mail along with a box of bullets, so I spent some time setting up the dies. I loaded some dummy rounds to try and get everything set before adding powder and primer and I just wanted to see if everything seemed right before actually loading the first rounds. I pulled my barrel out of my gun to check the dummy rounds in since I dont have a gauge yet. The dummies I made up were 1.155" in length and loaded in my magazine without any issues. When put in the barrel they would drop in and out freely. I took a heavy piece of metal and really pushed hard on the dummy to see if it would set back into the case and did not get it to move, so I figured the crimp was good. Then I loaded the dummies in a mag and cycled them through the gun several times and did not get any hangups or set back. Is there anything else I should try or measure before loading a few and trying them?
  10. I ordered a Dillon taper crimp die this morning so in a few days when it gets here I'll try it out and see how it does.
  11. I just got an email back from Hornady if anyone is interested. The die set that I have, item# 546533 is in fact a roll crimp set. So I guess I am in the market for a taper crimp die.
  12. If you do try one be sure to let us know how it does.
  13. Thanks. I will give them a call and see what they say before buying another die.
  14. http://m.hornady.com/store/10mm-40-S-and-W-.400-3-Die-Set/ These are the dies that I have. They are item #56433 and I didn't see anything about a taper crimp on the box. I didnt realize there were two different sets when I bought them and the description is not very helpful. ttolliver have you ever tried the Dillon taper crimp die with the cast bullets to compare the leading issue?
  15. I have been reloading rifle ammunition for a while so I am not completely new to reloading, just to pistol ammo. So I was hoping someone could tell me if I am on the right track with things. I will be loading .40sw to shoot limited class with. The gun is a Glock 35 with a KKM barrel. I am going to try either 180g Black Bullets International or 180g Bayou Bullets to begin with due to cost. Due to availability in my area I will start with Titegroup and see how it does. Right now I have a Hornady 3 die set that is not listed as being a taper crimp set on there site so I assume it does a roll crimp? I am looking to pick up a Lee factory crimp die to help resize the brass, as most of the brass I will be shooting is once fired from factory Glock barrels, and to taper crimp the bullets. I am planning on starting at 3.8g of Titegroup and working up from there. I plan to load to a midrange Minor power factor for the first couple hundred rounds until I get the hang of everything, before trying for major. Does anything stand out as a being a bad idea or a potential problem? Thank you for reading and for your input.
